LOGINThe once silent room became more chaotic, footsteps rushing in from every direction. A miracle was occurring. Elera feels the air around her shifting, and more people begin to fill the room.
Elera sees nothing but shadows of people hovering around her; it shields her from the harsh light of the room. There was noise and voices in the background. “Move, Move…. Clear the line.
“We need to stabilize her and check vitals, they are spiking up,” Elera heard the voices of people who dressed in white address her. Eleara still feels disoriented about everything that is happening to her.
Someone standing close to her was shouting at another person; Elera could hear faintly what was being said due to the voice being so loud.
“How is she conscious…. She shouldn’t be conscious. Who made this mistake?”
Elera could feel more people gathering around her. They were all moving at once; some were checking her vitals, some adjusting the wires attached to her. She feels so overwhelmed with the sudden sensation.
Elera’s breathing became more erratic; she didn’t like the way they were all touching her, and everything felt too much. The noise in the background didn't make Elera feel relaxed.
Elera feels the sounds, the motion, and the noise in the background press against her senses. Everything felt so suffocating. Her breathing made her chest rise and fall sharply. Every breath Elera takes feels like a struggle to her.
Elera tries to focus on something in the room. She tries to understand what is going on around her, but she can’t even ask anyone for answers. Nothing makes sense to her at all.
Her eyes move weakly as she tries to follow the figures of the people in the room. She sees gloved hands, and their faces are blurred out of clarity for her.
Their faces are filled with uneasiness. They didn't look relieved that she was awake at all. One expression was predominant fear.
Elera can’t help but think to herself, “ Why are they afraid? What is wrong…. Did an error happen?.
A figure came close to her, trying to adjust something on her shoulders. Elera couldn't help but notice the handshake of the person. It was as if something would go wrong at any time.
Elera tries to swallow, but her throat just hurts the most. She parted her lips to speak, but she couldn’t make a sound. She feels her throat hurt. Elera tries to open her mouth to speak, but no sound comes out.
The only thing that escaped from her mouth was a broken exhale. And nobody could even hear her with all the chaos going on in the room. She feels like her voice is trapped inside her, like it is stuck in her throat. Her body was not even cooperating with her.
Frustration begins to build up inside her. She tries once again, her mouth moves this time, but she still can’t form a word. Not even a sound came out this time. It's like her body doesn't even recognise her.
Elera decides to try something else, so she moves her fingers weakly against the surface that was beneath her. This tiny movement caught the attention of the people around her. They were shocked.
“Is she trying to communicate with us?” someone in the room asked…..… t she can’t regain function immediately," another replied.”
“Her motor functions are showing unstable, we have to keep her still.”.... Another voice shouted in the room.
“Still. What….. What …” Elera’s mind, though still processing slowly, caught on to the word.
She didn’t expect that her little movement would cause so much panic in the room. Elera can’t help but notice slowly that the way they are treating her waking up is like she wasn’t supposed to be awake yet.
It was like they didn’t plan for it at all. Elera can’t help but panic inside. This time, she gazes around the room to try to read their facial expressions.
“Where am I?... What happened to me?.... why am I here?” These questions keep bugging Elera as she tries to process what is happening to her.
A sharp beep sound brings Elera back. The sound was getting louder…. BEEP…… BEEEP..BEEP.BEEP….. It was faster with every passing minute.
‘Stabilize her now…. Her heart rate is going up… we have to bring it down now…. Administer the stabilizer now…” Elera feels a cold pressure on her arm with a faint sting. She is being injected with something. She can feel it in her system.
Her body reacts to it immediately. The tension in the room eased a little. Elera feels her breathing has slowed; it was better than before, though she still feels she has to fight for it. Her vision also got better, though still a little blurry, but it was better than before.
Elera feels something pushing through her; she feels like she is losing consciousness again. “No…NO… I don’t want to go back to sleep”... Elera tries to fight what is trying to make her sleep. She struggles to open her eyes, but she just gets tired more.
The people around her are still moving around, and their voices are lowered. Just as she was about to slip back into her unconscious state, she heard one of the people talking, though faintly.
“This is not right, we checked the systems, nobody tampered with it… so how is she awake?" another asked. Elera struggles not to fall unconscious so she might at least have a bit of information.
“We need to cross-check the timeline again.” “What do they mean by Timeline?” Elera knows this is important information, but she can't hold on anymore; she feels darkness cover her eyes again. Elera tries to say something desperately,
Elera forces out a word this time; she pushes against the darkness and weakness. “What…” That was the only thing she could say before her throat tightened; the sheer effort drained the little strength she had.
Nobody answered her; it was like they didn’t even notice her, or like they were not listening to her. Everyone in the room was only focused on her, as if she were a problem that needed to be dealt with.

One of the scientists ran back into the room, panting. Heanced towards everybody in the room, “It was not on the timeline…. It was not scheduled at all….” He spoke with panic in his voice.
Elera had a long sleep; she could hear the movements around her, but she couldn’t move her body. She felt trapped in her body again. Meeting Cassian and finding out he is her son was too much for Elera to bear. Though she was unconscious, her mind was still active. She finally was able able to open her eyes. Her eyes moved around the room to see where she was. The room was dark except for the city lights that shone beyond the glass walls. The city sounded so alive, just like the first time she was moved to the room. It still felt very strange to her. Nothing about this world felt human to her anymore. What disturbed her the most was not the technology but Cassian. Her son. Elera couldn’t even imagine having a son that big.Elera remembered the way he looked at her, spoke with her. She remembered the longing in his eyes. Elera sat up slowly in bed. Reminiscing about Cassian. Her gaze stared at the city lights. “Cassian knows something; they all do,” she whispered.“And somehow I’m
Elera lay on the bed, still unconscious, as the medical staff tried to find out what was wrong. The older director turned to the guard who came with news concerning Cassian, “How many minutes more before he gets here?” “In less than five minutes, sir.” his answer made everyone in the room feel tense. They haven’t prepared for a day like this; everything was going out of control. “Is there a way to stall him?” one of the directors asked. Nobody could answer that question because they all knew there was no way to stop Cassian Hartwell. Although young, he has established himself as an immovable force. As they were all contemplating what to do, they heard heavy footsteps outside the door. The directors and the medical staff all stopped their actions, there gaze shifted to the door.“He is here already”, the older executive mumbled in his breath. The atmosphere in the room was very tense, and all gazes were fixed on the door. The door to the room finally opened, and bodyguards rushed in,
Elera was shocked; she couldn’t comprehend what the man had called her. The noise around her became distant in her ears, and the words kept ringing in her ears. Elera couldn’t believe the man called her his mother. Her mind flashed back to the information she saw previously, the reproductive files. Elera couldn’t remember ever being pregnant before she was frozen. The staff members beside Elera also stood stunned; they didn’t expect Cassian to share such information with Elera. It took them a while to regain control of themselves. Elera tried to move the wheelchair she was sitting on closer to the room, but it won’t bulge. She could still see Cassian standing there watching her. His entire gaze was fixed on her.Elera raised her voice a little for Cassian to hear her. “Why did you call me that?” Cassian paused a little before he responded again, “That’s because… You are my mother.” His voice was heard again from the speakers. Elera still found it hard to believe what he was sayin
There was a change in the atmosphere before he even arrived. There was an unusual silence in the air. The type of silence that comes before a storm. Elera could help but observe way the staff members moved. Elera had been sitting near the archive room doorway with two medical staff members behind her. Two guards stepped in front of her without any explanation. “Doctor Voss, we need you to return to your designated area,” one of the guards said with a hint of hostility in his voice. Elera felt angry, first, because nobody answered her questions, and now they are restricting her movements. Elera responded angrily, “I didn’t leave my designated area. Besides, you can see me with the medical staff. The guards didn’t respond; instead, they signaled to the medical staff. The staff had no choice but to obey them. Elera knew there was nothing she could do at that moment, especially not in her weak state. The medical staff guided her forward; there was no room for negotiations. The wheelch
The medical staff helped Elera into her wheelchair. Elera turned to the nurse,” I want to tour the facility.” The nurse hesitated at first: “I will have to ask for clearance first.” The nurse typed a message into a device she was holding. “She wants to tour the facility. Do we have permission to go ahead?” They all waited in an awkward silence before a response came in. “Permission granted.” “Doctor Voss, we have been granted clearance.” Elera didn’t look fazed; she just wanted to leave the room. She needed to understand the world around her. The two medical staff stood by her side to support her and also monitor her vitals. The doors of the room slid open, and the wheelchair moved on its own as if knowing the direction Elera wanted to go.As they moved along the Corridor, Elera’s eyes moved quickly across the corridor. Seh still felt amazed with how ar the world had advanced. The corridor was so clean that one could see one’s reflection in it. Machines floated past er without even
“She doesn’t know about the children,” the Doctor replied to the Nurse. Elera could not describe what she felt at that moment. Those words keep echoing in her mind, “Children, when… when did I have children?” Elera could feel a sharp pain in her chest. She could not believe the information she was hearing. “But I have been in a coma for twenty-five years; there is no way I could have had children then, right?” Elera lay in bed, frozen from shock. Elera felt maybe she misunderstood them, but deep down, she knew she didn’t. The way they spoke, they sounded sure of what they were saying. Elera, enduring the pain, turned her body to the other side. She felt a cold shiver as she focused on the skylines of the city. “Children, but how…” She could not wrap her mind around it. She tried to remember events from twenty-five years ago that made her fall into a coma, but she couldn’t remember anything. Her mind was blank.Elera couldn’t help but feel fear and a strong feeling that something w
BEEP BEEP….. That is the sound Elera wakes up to. Darkness covers her entire vision. It pressed her from all sides. BEEP BEEP….. That is the sound Elera wakes up to. Darkness covers her entire vision. It pressed her from all sides. The darkness Elara feels is just about the absence of light; it fe
Back at the facilityThe lights in Elera’s room grew dim. For a while, Elera was trying to process what happened to the light. The mechanical hub she was placed in suddenly changed its pitch. The sound is increasing every minute. “What is happening? Are they doing something to the machine?” Elera
After a while, the voices faded away. Elera could no longer hear their arguments anymore, as if they had moved further away. The distance between them grew. There was silence in the room again. The only sound in the room was the steady hum of machines and the sound of her heartbeat. Elera lay sti
The numbers displayed on the screen remain the same. Elera was still trying to wrap her head around what she was seeing. She stared at the screen till her eyes became blurry. “TWENTY-FIVE YEARS, How did this happen?” The words kept echoing in her head. Elera was having difficulty processing the in
