Chapter 2: Come, Let's Swap the Groom

The expressions of everyone in the room changed dramatically.

Suppressing his voice, Rupert Forster said, "With so many elders present, don't speak rashly. Go back and get ready; the wedding is about to start."

Elizabeth Forster did not respond but instead took out her phone and showed it to everyone, speaking coldly, "I think Cherry Forster would be more suitable as Edwiin Kingsley's bride."

On the phone screen, the naked bodies of a man and a woman were glaringly visible.

Rupert Forster refused to give up. "Elizabeth, men are bound to make mistakes. Grandpa Lin definitely only recognizes you as his granddaughter-in-law! The wedding is about to start, and all the important figures in N City are here today. You mustn't act recklessly!"

Being born into such a family was truly tragic. In Rupert Forster's eyes, his daughter's lifelong happiness was less important than his so-called face.

Elizabeth Forster stood tall, her pale face even more pronounced against the white lace dress, with a heavy sorrow flashing in her eyes.

"Grandpa Lin, you already know what has happened. I'm sorry, but I really can't be your granddaughter-in-law anymore."

Everyone knew that Grandpa Lin liked Elizabeth Forster.

Pete Melville!

Elizabeth Forster's eyes lit up, and she walked toward the man.

"Mr. Melville, may I have a few minutes of your time?" Elizabeth Forster stopped in front of the man, politely asking.

Seeing her, the man's originally calm black eyes suddenly flickered with a different emotion.

Why did Elizabeth Forster call him "Mr. Melville"? They had known each other for years...

Pete Melville forced down his displeasure and made a gentlemanly gesture, indicating for her to proceed.

Gathering her courage, Elizabeth Forster said, "Mr. Melville, can you stand in for Edwiin Kingsley as my groom?"

Be her groom?!

After so many years without seeing each other, the first thing Elizabeth Forster did upon meeting him was to treat him like a stranger and ask him... to pretend to be her groom?!

"I want to marry you!" Elizabeth Forster's heart raced as she waited for his response.

Pete Melville looked her up and down meaningfully, feeling that rushing to attend her wedding was worth it. He raised his handsome eyebrows.

"What problem has arisen between Miss Forster and Mr. Lin?"

Pete Melville had no interest in being a stand-in for another man.

"Edwiin Kingsley cheated on me with my sister, and I caught them in the act just now. I wanted to cancel the wedding, but my family wouldn't agree. So, I thought of temporarily going through the motions with you. As long as you can help me this once, I will do everything in my power to assist you in the future!"

The man pondered for a long time before his thin lips parted slightly. "One last question: with so many people here, why did you choose me?"

"Because your status and position are something the Su and Lin families can only aspire to. They dare to be angry but dare not speak out!" Elizabeth Forster blurted out.

Just because of that? Pete Melville's eyes narrowed slightly, feeling somewhat displeased. Suddenly, he didn't want to help so easily...

Elizabeth Forster felt anxious, sensing that his next words would be a refusal. What would she do then?

A low voice came, "I can help you, but..." The man paused. "I want all the shares of the Forster Group under your name."

Pete Melville knew that the shares of the Forster Group were left to Elizabeth Forster by her mother, and they were her most precious possession.
