"Tell the wolves I'm home"

Her King's Point Of View

3rd POV

His wolf was going frantic now.

He'd put guards all over the castle, but apparently none were there when she went to the dungeons and then out.

Of course they escaped. He should've locked his little mate as well.

"Get the trackers to track them down and the warriors to also go looking for them. We will find them" Lilo quickly nodded and walked away, but not before taking notice of how he looked slightly worried.

I will find them myself if I have to, but they'll be here before tomorrow morning, he thought.

Calix made his way out the castle, but before he was out, Jonathan was standing there, looking at him questionably "Tell Gracie, to come with me" Jonathan stood there, frowning.

"Why do you need my mate for? It's raining and there haven't been any rogues around the borders" The quise took annoyed Calix, but he understood why his Beta would worry for his mate's safety and well-being.

"I need her to help me find my mate" ,he snapped. Jonathan nodded in understanding before mind linking his mate.

She was the head warrior, but Jonathan was still protective of her and didn't like when she had to go towards danger.

'Yo, babe?'

'What's up?' She quickly answered.

'Calix needs your help on tracking his mate'

'I'll be there in ten' she responded and cut off their mind l**k.

"She'll be here in ten minutes" Calix nodded, his steps not faltering.

"Where did you tell me that the rogues moved to?" If his mate and her sister were to be found by them they would be in serious trouble.

"The northern side of the border" Jonathan answered.

Calix nodded. The castle was not that far from the northern side of the border and Calix's adrenaline started to spike up.

Once outside, they were met with a small group of trackers and Gracie. She had her black cargo pants on, a jacket and and a simple dark green top. She looked like she was going to fight.

Jonathan went to her side as soon as he spotted her and hugged her from behind. Calix looked away from them and focused on the task at hand.

"In case you don't know why you're here, two of the girls who were brought from the village escaped and we're going to track them down. Any sign you might find, tell me. Questions?" Calix stood there, waiting for them to answer. They all responded with a "no Alpha".

All of them shifted into their wolves when Calix gave the command, and followed him through the woods, smelling around in hopes of catching a scent.

The beast inside Calix was angry at him and the situation. He blamed Calix for everything that was happening.

'You are a terrible mate, human. I want mate' the beast growled. The distaste he had for the situation and his human right now were evident and clear. He didn't like the fact that his mate was trying to run away, but he understood that it was also the human's fault that this was happening

'Not now, wolf' Calix snapped at him before blocking him out of his thoughts. The animal stuck up its ears straight up and bared his long canines. It walked around and huffed before retreating to the back of Calix's mind, showing its displeasure before doing so.

The King wasn't in the mood for anything. At least not until he knew his mate was safe.

Why did she have to go now? Stupid, stupid girl. He, once again, thought to himself.

Her delicious scent still lingered in the air, meaning that her and her sister had been there not too long ago.

The dead leaves scrunched under the wolves' paws as the rain poured and a small breeze blew. The woods were quiete, as if waiting for a fight to break loose. The air was tense and the rain soaked everyone's furs, weighting them down a little. Every now and then they would shake their furs to get rid of some of yhebwater, but the rain drops only fell faster and harder.

His little mate must've been soaking wet by now. The beast ached to touch his her. To engulf her in his warmth. He was growing sympathetic over the girl. Of course, if anything happened to her he would also have consequences. It was a selfish interest mixed with unwanted feelings.

'Hurry up and track them. They must be getting wet under this rain'. Calix mind-linked his trackers and warriors.

He needed to know that the little flower was safe. He wasn't a good mate, but he still wanted her to be safe.

The King and his trackers abruptly stopped. A growl emitted from him, making the whole forest shake.

'Is it what I think it is?' Jonathan mind linked linked.

'We have company' ,Calix confirmed.

The wind changed its course, blowing towards them and that's when they smelt it.

Rotten flesh.

Some of the trackers shivered in disgust. The smell was horrifying and hurt their sensible noses.

'How many do you think there are?' Gracie asked.

Calix lifted his nose into the air to get a whiff for himself. His heart stopped. The smell of human blood was also mixed with the horrid stench.

'About eight rogues. The girls aren't safe. They've been found. Come on, we must hurry' Calix's thunderous voice boomed through the mind l**k.

As soon as they got to where the rogues were, Calix immediately saw red. His little mate was on the ground with a rogue on her. Her eyes were barely open and her body was all bloodied.

'Attack. Now'

Calix and everyone else charged at the rogues who were too focused on the girls. One of them noticed them and barked to alert the others. Their furs bristled and backs arched. Their lips curled back and they snarled.

A mighty growl ripped out of Calix's beast when their flower's eyes closed completely, her body going limp.

That's when all hell broke loose.

That's when he broke loose.
