The Threat

"You've seen my descent.

Now watch my rising"

Her King's Point Of View

3rd POV

Nothing was working. Calix was still restless after a week. Rosalya wasn't waking up. She was still in a coma. The pack doctor had said that it was a medical induced coma so she could recover better. It was up to her, really.

Her sister wasn't any better. They were both so close to death. The thought angered him. He had ordered for the rest of the rogues to be chased away and those who wanted a fight were the ones who got a fight.

Calix would always go and pay Rosie a visit every night. His wolf would always calm down when he was near her. He didn't exactly hate the girl, but he didn't want to get close because he knew the consequences.

It was just something about...her. He was always involuntarily thinking of her. Even without realizing it he would be thinking about her. He really didn't want to do anything with her. He was gonna wait for her to get fixed and then she'd be as far away from him as possible.

Then, he also noticed how complaining about how he was always thinking about her was, in fact, still thinking about her. There, in the middle of the huge hallway, he facepalmed.

Stupid mate bond.

Or was it?

Calix huffed and ran his fingers through his untamed auburn curls that somehow still managed to make him look handsome. He came to a stop in front of a door and hesitated before pushing it open.

The room was located in the hospital wing. Inside was a bed and two night side tables with a lamp. Lilo had come a day ago and decorated the room. It was Rosie's - as Lilo calls her now- room.

She lied on the white, twin sized bed. The covers were hugging her little form as the AC was on. To Calix, she looked like a delicate flower more than ever. An angel, even.

He carefully approached the bed and sat in a cushioned seat next to her. His fingers caressed her soft cheeks and tentatively hovered over her slightly chapped lips. He could never deny her beauty. That would be considered a sin. No matter how little he wanted her, he wouldn't lie about something so obvious.

He stared a little bit longer and made up his mind. He'd leave and resume his work that was piling up on his desk.

A frustrated sigh escaped his parted lips, his fingers still caressing her delicate face. After what seemed to be minutes, his hands retreated from her face.

His eyes found the fairy lights that were hanging above her bed. Lilo said it would give a magical effect to the room and help Rosie have good dreams. "You never know what could be going on in her head. You need to try and make the turmoil turn into peace", she said.

True, the fairy lights were a nice touch to the room too, Calix wouldn't deny the fact. He has been trained and prepared for anything and everything.... just not his mate. He wasn't prepared for his mate.

'Alpha, an unknown wolf had managed to trespass into the mainlands. Claimed to have a message for you' Jonathan's voice rung in his head.

Calix released a low growl in rage, his whole demeanor darkening. 'I'm on my way',With that, he dashed out the room, the thought of resuming his office work long gone.

His temper worsened as he kept thinking on who dared to cross his territory. A foolish wolf with a death wish, he thought. His beast was raging in his head, displeased on how they were interrupted.

Another growl sounded through the castle walls as the King marched his way down the halls like the royalty he is.

Once outside, Calix's wolf took over and shifted. A thunderous, ear piercing howl left its mouth before breaking out into a sprint.

He swiftly ran through the forest, avoiding the trees that would get on the way. The wind caressed the dark grey coat of fur. His ears would twitch once in a while at the different sounds of the forest.

It wasn't long until the King reached the small clearing where small houses could be seen in the distance. A short one.

This was a worrisome situation. How could a rogue get this far past his warriors? It was close to the village, where innocent commoners live. Where his people live.

In front of him, Jonathan stood with two other warriors. He recognized the black haired one as Dante and the redhead as Silas. The two wolves who were in charge of the eastern north side of the border.

In front of them was a bound woman kneeled with her hands tied to her back. Her black, curly hair was pointing at every direction with dirt and leaves on it. Her face was scratched and slightly bruised while her honey brown eyes narrowed on him.

The King frowned at the sight in front of him. It was normal to get rogues, but not female ones. They practically didn't exist. It was almost always that the male was the one who craved freedom or rebelled. Females were the gems of a pack. Contrary to most believes, packs were claimed strong based on the amount of females and children they had.

She-wolves were the ones who birthed the pups and kept the pack going. It was thanks to them there was even a pack.

Calix stepped closer to the female, inspecting her with calculating and angry eyes. She dared cross the borders to his pack.

The she-wolf glared as her lips curled into a snarl. “What? Never seen a women being a rogue? Sorry, not all of us want to birth a bunch of pups and clean the laundry for a living” She asked mockingly.  The act only angered the King further. She wanted to die now, didn't she?

With his pointer finger and thumb, Calix cupped her chin and pulled it up to him roughly.

"State your last words, rogue" He lazily and emotionlessly commanded. The woman didn't even flinch at the tone he was using on her. After a slight pause, she smirked with a dark purpose.

"The clock has started, Alpha. The moment you found your mate was the moment her death sentence was made. My King, the past is close and it's thirsty for her blood. The throne will be returning to its rightful owner. Watch out King, the games have begun"

The speech was not welcomed, but confirmed one of the many worries Calix had. He could kill her, but he could also use her for information and it was vital for him to make a wise choice.

The beast inside him growled in anger, clawing Calix's inides in order to be let out. "Don't let her escape. Take her to the dungeons and get as much information as you can. Silas, report to me after"

Both guards that intently listened to the instructions nodded their head and walked away with the female who was violently struggling to get out of their grip.

Calix stated off into the distance and spaced off for a little bit. Jonathan noticed and Pat him in the shoulder, bringing him back to his senses. They didn't say anything, but they both started making their way back to the castle.

His past was close.
