Aiden’s POV::

The air was crisp and sharp against my fur as I moved through the woods, my wolf reveling in the liberating freedom of the breeze. This was where I belonged—in the wild, unchained and unchallenged.

Wikh fell into step beside me, his form just as imposing, his eyes scanning the forest ahead. Neither of us spoke; words weren’t necessary when we were like this. We moved as one, our senses heightened, our instincts in sync as we covered the terrain.

We sniffed the air, the earth, every scent in the breeze as we patrolled the perimeter. The forest was alive with sounds—rustling leaves, the occasional scurry of prey, the distant hum of the highway—but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

We neared the edge of the woods, the cliff overlooking the city visible through the thinning trees. I slowed, my claws digging into the earth as I peered down. My sharp vision scanned the landscape, searching for anything unusual, but the scene was annoyingly mundane.
