THE COVENANT

When we got back to school, no one said anything, it was almost ten o'clock at night. That is, I hadn't been in class all day because I had spent most of the time following clues and hiding evidence. The five of us were in the cafeteria, sitting at a table near the pool. Everything was half dark and no one was there. Not one student.

-What do we do now? -Karla broke the silence.

Wade was staring blankly, perhaps processing what had just happened.

-I don't know, pretend nothing happened? -answers Flavia.

-No one will talk about this," Elder says, "We'll make a pact. This day never existed. No one knows anything. Burn her clothes, do whatever you can with them, but make her disappear.

-Pretend nothing happened? -There are two girls who will never return to their homes, one was almost a child and the other... was Amara's age. The two of them... they deserved more than to be burned in the woods.
