Chapter 7

I was sitting on my couch with my anatomy book open to study for my next test. I hear a knock on my door and knew it was Ellie. I jump up to answer the door and to my surprise Ricky was standing there.

“What are u doing here” I say blocking the door so he can’t come in.

“I came to see what was up. You haven’t been to the house or answered my text” he says stuffing his hands into his jeans pockets.

“I have been busy and I heard you are almost done with PT so there was no reason for me to hang around there”

“That makes no sense you use to hang out before my accident so why not now” he asks?

“I’m just focusing on school. I only have a few more classes left”

“So why won’t you let me in and we hang out now”

“I am studying and you are bothering me” I say closing the door in his face. I hear him knocking on my door while I collect my things and go to my bedroom to study.

Latter on I text Ellie to reschedule our hang out. I just wanted to be alone.

About a month had passed since I seen or talked to Ricky. Me and Ellie are going to lunch to celebrate me graduating nursing school.

When I get to the restaurant she is there waiting for me outside. I immediately pull her into a hug.

“I have missed you Ell” I say taking a seat accorded from her.

“I have missed you too. I am so happy for you graduating nursing school that was a huge accomplishment” Ellie says picking up her menu.

“Yeah I am happy that this part is over now I have to study for the NCLEX”.

“Well I’m glad we get to spend time together just the 2 of us. So what is going on between you and my brother. He said he stopped by to see you and you slammed the door in his face”.

“I was busy studying” I shrug.

“You and me both know you have feelings for him and he is too clueless to see it” she says

“It doesn’t matter anymore he has a girlfriend and u need to focus on more important things than the 2 sucking face. I heard them when I was getting my stuff from your house the last time I was there” I say. Her face goes ghost white!

“Thats why you haven’t been around isn’t it. God I am so sorry you had to deal with that” she sakes her head. “I know this is awkward timing but my mom wanted me to ask you to come to the racing season end of the year bbq. It’s next weekend and I really want you to be there”

The bbq how could I have forgotten that it was coming up, I honestly didn’t think it was happening this year because of Ricky’s injuries.

“I don’t think it would be a good idea if I come. I don’t want to see your brother or his girlfriend”

“They broke up” Ellie says. “The day after you slammed the door in his face. She was being to clingy and he hated it”

“Oh”. I said. What did she think I would be happy they broke up.

“I’ll think about it okay. I’m not making any promises”

“Thank you” she says. We both dig into our and we enjoy our lunch god I have missed her.
