LOGIN“Don't hurt a hair on them” a man said, striking me unconscious with a pin he spat from a flute.
I woke up tied to a pole with a silver chain. I was completely helpless and couldn't break the chains.
Our kind was weak to sliver and sliver could harm us greatly.
I felt little effects of whatever I was tranquilized with.
Looking around I found myself in what looked like a lady's chambers.
So a fair lady dressed in white walked in, she wore feathers on her feet and fangs of different animals seemed to be her necklace.
She was beautiful as the sun and her aura filled the air, each step she took closer to me looked like she carried a wind. She sang a melody that weakened my defenses.
I swam in her grace and lost my self will.
A soft voice echoed “you shouldn't be here,
Your species have been believed to be dead.
What you seek lies blood on the path, you have been warned" she said as she went to sit on a mat at the center of the room.
Soon a man came in and announced to me that I should be dressed for the ritual, cutting my chains loose and bounding my legs instead.
“ What ritual?”I ask l, collecting the white garment he offered me.
Your friend has been found worthy and pleasing to our fathers and she will be slaughtered tonight at full moon.
“What? Slaughtered?" I pounded to understand what I heard.
“The lady will see that you are bathed and dressed. You have been found worthy of being our master's mate , after the slaughter, you will go in with our master"
Those words struck hard as I heard them.
“No sir, you have the wrong person. You can slaughter whomever you want but why should I mate with someone I don't know, I am not even of age yet"
“It has been decided" he turned and left, ignoring my words.
“ Father, I should have stayed home…” I cried with tears rolling down my eyes.
~ An hour to full moon ~
I had been bathed and dressed up for the ceremony.
My heart skipped a beat as time drew near. It was a full moon and being under 18 we couldn't transform into our wolves self yet.
But our senses will be heightened and without our divas we would be very vulnerable.
The lady earlier who seemed to be a witch judging by her aura instructed me to follow her.
Witches were extinct creatures but if I was right then there was a lot I was quite to discover
She placed a veil over my face. I followed her to the assembly.
Men were already dressed in animal skin coats.
At the end of the gathering was a huge throne, the lady took her seat and I stood behind her.
I saw everyone rise as a huge barbarian walked in. He was bare on the chest with a spare in his right hand and many scars on his back.
They had a frightened gaze, I didn't dare look twice into his eyes. Everybody had a sense of fear for him, this fear gripped me fast.
He sat on the throne and he commanded them to bring me forward.
I was led to his feet and struck to my knees by one of the guards
“Raise your veil so that I can behold your face" he
Ordered.
Without hesitation I did as I was told. He smiled at me looking pleased.
With a wave of the palm I was taken back to my stand.
The drums went off and guards dragged 5 individuals into the gathering. They had bags over their heads counseling their faces.
The master stood to make a speech,
“ The gods have seen Worthy candidates to fill our bellies with,
We will feast and drink blood tonight" a cheers came from the crowd as he finished.
With a wave of hand their faces were unveiled.
A blind boy was first unveiled, then Constance was next, the third person was revealed to be my diva Sammy.
The shock caused chills to run through my body. I gave a worried and happy smile
But Sammy wore an angry look fixing her eyes straight to my direction.
I raised my hands to wave in my little moment of excitement but then my body stiffened as I turned to see the fourth unveiled.
We had striking resemblance, she was as identical as I am.
Long beautiful hair, same feeble eyes, outstanding pointy nose.
Our eyes locked and our gaze didn't wither, she seemed as shocked as I was.
I could sense a lot of unhappiness and hate coming from her.
The sight left the master uneasy.
He halted the fifth unveil. He stepped down and moved closer to the girl with the same face as mine.
He became furious.
He then ordered for the fifth person to be taken back and for the ceremony to start .
It was almost full moon, Drums beat began and the witch stepped forward and started a ritual dance after which she drew the blood of each person to be sacrificed into a bowl with a slit on the palm.
She moved towards me and slit my wrist too. She whispered to me “your fight has begun” she then placed the bowl over an altar and continued saying some rites.
The ritual was complete, it was time for the slaughter.
The fourth girl was to be first. I watched her being dragged to the alter.
His sense of fear overwhelmed me. At that point I felt all her pain. It seems as if we were one body.
It was already a full moon. With the unbearable surge of emotions and pain everywhere darkened. I could see through my nocturnal lens.
The blade was welded against her head. I saw the blade go upward into the air.
Without thinking I ran towards the girl, immediately I touched her, I felt myself channeling all her fear.
I channeled fear and hate into the crowd, soon an internal commotion set in. Everyone was at each other's throats. The men began killing themselves.
I saw Phillip charge towards the man with the blade striking him down with a spear.
I set the girl loose of the chain by pulling them apart.
I pulled the sliver blades apart for the first time. Sammy watched in surprise.
Soon I freed my other colleagues including the blind boy.
The witch grabbed me and put a bracket round my wrist.
It was a blood bath, I watched as the master defended himself against his men who attacked him. We both locked eyes and I gave him a dead look before turning away.
Philip set fire on their shades and we fled out of the town.
The moon died and I felt weak and fainted.
The sun had already gone down on us, clouds formed slowly in the sky looking like it would rain." My baby, Hernia Amber” she called out to me by my name. Watching her cry caused my heart to ache. The way her lips trembled when she spoke my name and the gut-punch of familiarity I felt, sent a jolt of electricity through me.I turned to my dad, he stood with his eyes widened and shivering like he had seen a ghost. His face that was once filled with fire of fury was now gray like a stone carving.“My child, it's me. It's your mother" she sobbed uncontrollably while trying to speak.I signaled the guard to stand down.I was only a few meters away, her lovely cedar scent filled the air. Her shadow followed behind her. She looked different, she didn't have the white garment on. She was draped in expensive high official heavy slick. Her hair was packed in a bun with a jewel piece. Her face bore the elegant tragic lines of someone who survived a lifetime of noble intrigue.I looked in her e
Every instinct in my body screamed at me to confront him.I met him standing arms crossed, facing the low fence.“Why do you enjoy keeping things away from me dad?" I angrily questioned my father as he stood outside staring into thin air,my voice hard as ice.“Hernia! I will not tolerate that tone" he revolted like a wave, his eyes shot at my friend who stood behind in awe of the clash out.“Then talk to me, talk to us dad. I'm your daughter yet I don't even know you dad" I began crashing out not minding my tone.He stood by the fence, his eyes scanning four of us as if scanning casualties on a battlefield. His sharp gaze bore into me with evident contempt“Two months," he whispered, the quietness of his voice more terrifying than a shout.“Two months of silence and searching for you and your friends. While you chased a ghost that didn't want to be found" I blinked occasionally scanning through my conscience. I watched my dad and couldn't recognize the man who I had forced into an ou
“Sir Crisent Herpens!" the king yelled angrily with every vein in his body standing out from increased blood circulation. That unholy name quickly rings a bell, king of the old werewolves, divider of our clan we finally meet eye to eye. I settled into the chair more reserved than ever without fear. For a long time I have heard tales about Lord Crisent. A man greatly feared that commanded all the old werewolves packs. Oppressors of humans and wolves. I turned to the king, he restrained himself greatly suppressing his anger and humiliation. His hands were clenched into his fist, a clear sign of fuming rage. The king was only a puppet, a veneer of authority he wielded as he please.I turned back to Lord Crisent as I read the room. The man’s gaze still mixed with cold rage and animal instinct. His werewolf eyes glowing with dangerous intensity “Careful what you wish for little girl" the masculine growl released from his voice.I remained poised, settled into the chair and let out a mocki
“Dad, I have to go. I will meet you all at Kael's place” I restrained him, pulling him away from the guard who was almost running out of breath.Dad's shoulders relaxed as he stepped away from the guard with eyes darting between me and the guard and his temper still sparring within.Dad grabbed my hand gently still with a flushed face “Don't delay to come to me, understood?" his tone filled with heartfelt concerns." Yes father” I replied with a heavy breath gently pulling away from his grip.…I walked into the king's personal study room. The room has a welcoming scent of old scrolls and heavily burned beeswax oil. The chaos of outside walls halted as the doors were shut by a servant that led me in.The floor was graced with an enormous furry carpet that spread across the room. My feet danced in the softness and relaxation the carpet had to offer.I looked at the wall and was astonished by the painting frames of war and nature. I was so distracted by the aesthetics that I didn't not
The king's face burned in pure awe as he approached, I could tell he was going to harm me. His emotions were of punctured ego and defeat. His sword rested on my shoulders, I felt his panting from the distance he stood. “I accept the results of this challenge and I promise to honor my word and grant your three wishes" he pausedPointing a sword to the crowd. I grew anxious not knowing his next intention “ But, we will feast and make merry with the animals from the hunt. You can appeal to me tomorrow." The people cheered upon hearing the king's decree. He moved closer to me at the position I knelt and whispered “you and your friend have gained my attention and so will no longer be prisoner" He called in the guards to show us where to freshen up and join the party and offered a seat at the official's table.…“I saw my dad in the woods" I whispered to Philip with a mouth full of meat chewing gently. His eyes bulged with surprise. He words as he chews. We both ate like starved dogs. “We
The man swung his sword into the air ready to strike me off.“Nooo!" A voice echoed from a distance plunging the man high into the air.Another beast, a werewolf. It roared at me and I immediately understood. “Get out of here" it said.I recognized that roar. My dad, how is he here? I sprang up with what strength I had left as I wondered. My healing ability kicked in, I limped as I took off and soon my body was in shape to run on both feet. I fled not looking back.I took the direction the elk had headed earlier.I soon felt its strong scent as it had bled heavily and sensed its fear and weakness. The beast lost its will to fight and was about to give up.I latch on the beast throat again and pin it to the ground. It wrestles continuously and I deepen my grip. Its horn gets caught up in the woods and its struggle lessens.I felt its vital artery as it steadied and lounged it out causing blood to splash all over the elk and on my face. The beast finally gives up. It soon goes cold and
Constance wasn't having it. She let out a jagged snarl of grief that rippled through my bones like hot iron forced into my narrow. I felt her grief growing strong and powerful, she was clearly out of control and wasn't thinking straight. She didn't wait for the suspense to settle, she ran out on u
I got to know the city we were in from the little information. It sure was a big city ruled by a king and his ministers handled different sectors and affairs of the state. It wasn't like back home, dad was the leader of our clan and nobody had to pay taxes or be oppressed. Everyone was treated equa
“What?" Constance, who was silent for a while, exclaimed in shock.“Break in?” she sprouted up from where she sat with her jaw dropped. I quickly shut her with my palms against her mouth, quietly sitting her down.“Shuhh, someone might hear" I whispered looking around to make sure there was no one
I quickly pulled the second pole and aimed for the guard whom was about attacking Philip but missed. The fire pole struck off the blade he wielded. It was long that Kelvin sat up and started mubblig loudly. This time his chants were working. Each guard fell to the ground and soon there was calm.I
