Chapter 5

“Why is she not awake yet?" Sammy questioned, breathing heavily on my face.

“ You could observe a little farther from my face," I said, trying to push her off of me.

“What the hell's that back there?" Sammy questioned 

“ What was what?

And since when have you been following me" I returned the question.

“ I followed you since you eavesdropped on that conversation back at home, I kept a distance when I noticed crush boy and his idiot girlfriend following too” she referred to Philip and Constance we both shared in the hatred for them.

“ Who was that girl and what did you do back there? 

Since when did you learn to control minds?" Sammy queried

“ I don't know how to explain it but it happened because I touched her and I have never seen her until then" I defended.

" Speaking of the girl, why is she not here?” I asked.

" We lost her on the way” Philip answered 

"Or maybe she parted ways with us" Constance replied, " I sensed the feeling of rejection, whomever she was, she never really wanted to go with us so let forget about her" 

" What do you even know?” I questioned Constance statement 

" You know I have mastered more emotions than you so trust me on this one” she replied in all honesty.

Noticing the blind boy at the corner "Does he speak?” I wondered about throwing the question at Constance.

" We were in the same cage but he never spoke a word. He seemed to have been there longer than we know,” she replied.

“How do we travel with a blind person?qcx. ,asß2ß3à" Philip asked with a worried look.

"I can see clearer than you with eyes, thank you for ea2saving me, I don't mean to be a bother I will leave as soon as I find a refuge” the boy said 

" Insensitive fool” Constance said smacking Philip on my the head

“Sorry, someone had to ask" he replied 

I walked closer to the boy waving in front of his eyes, he instinctively caught my hands in motion with a firm grip.

“Woo woo, I'm impressed" I exclaimed trying to loosen from his grip.

“ Hi call me Hernia, I'm a Superior wolf" I said boastenly 

He reached for my hand and we shook “ You can call me Kelvin, I was birthed by a witch" he explained.

The news shocked my colleague and I , I turned giving them a flabagasted look, they too looked astonishment.

“ Witches do exist?" Sammy said in disbelief.

“There is time to catch up on the way" Philip said as he picked his belongings ready to set out.

We all pick up a bag a continued on our way.

We all warmed up with our divas, I clinged to Sammy troubling her with endless questions.

“We have the seas of creatures ahead" I announced to the group after observing the map.

“What lies in the sea of creatures?" Constance threw a question at me.

“Thought you were the smart one, you should know" I replied 

“A monster of illusion, we need to work together to get past” Philip urged us.

“No need to be scared, we have practiced something like this in class…”

" And you and your diva didn't stand a chance” Constance jokingly cut in as I spoke.

She felt pleased sensing the humiliation coming from Sammy and I.

The rest of the trip was a quite one.

~The River of illusion ~

A man stood at the bank of the river on a boat.

"This is no place for kids, return now and prevent further disaster” the man discouraged us with his warning as we progressed.

Phillip moved closer signalling us to hault where we stood. We did as we were told.

The warnings of the man echoed in my mind, I watched as Philip matched closer and spoke with the man, returning to give us feedback 

“We are to give a coin each before we board the boat, and we board one by one" he said

“What an outrageous condition, why should we trust the old man" I questioned 

“Do you have another path?" Constance returned my boastful statement with her question.

I gave no further reply.

We all sourced a coin.

I had a few in my pocket, I extended my hands to aid the blind boy but he declined my offer.

“ I will go first” Kelvin the blind boy said.

Such boldness and bravery caught my attention, I sensed no fear.

He matched towards the man, handed a coin and boarded the boat.

I watched as the paddled into a distance till I couldn't see them in the fog.

“Does anyone realize we are going each without our divas?” Constance said and a sense of realization hit the group left behind.

"Your father will kill me if anything happens to you Hernia, don't die out their” Sammy sounded a warning.

I could feel her seriousness from within 

“Chill already, I don't die easily just look out for yourself” I reassured her.

Soon the man returned. We each looked at each other waiting for who would volunteer to go next.

No one seemed willing.

I was pushed from behind, look back I it was Constance. I gave a quick gaze to the rest and gave in.

I matched forward towards the boat.

I felt no emotions from the man as if he wasn't existent.

“ He must be dead" I thought to myself as I handed him my cold.

He slap onyop my palm hard with a cold stare into my face.

I saw his face having an inside down look…his mouth nose and eyes were upsidedown.

His palms were cold and hard. “Get on board" he said giving off a strong breath. I couldn't stand being closer so I quickly got on the boat.

He handed me a paddle and we both paddled hard with the tides. The boat soon left shore.

I watched my friends as their figure disappear from sight.

Turning to where the man was sitted I saw he was no longer there just a bare skeleton looking ages death.

I sprang up in shock causing the boat to rock with unrest, the tides became strong and I soon lost balance from the repeated rocking of the boat, I fell into the river.
