CHAPTER 236

Author: Pria Ambre
last update publish date: 2026-09-19 20:16:55

Hi, everyone. ✨

I know many of you have been asking for updates, and first of all, thank you. Seeing how excited you are for the next chapter truly makes me happy, and I never take your support for granted.

I also wanted to be honest with you about something.

Many readers think authors simply disappear when there isn’t an update, but that’s rarely the case. Writing is my job, but it’s also something I genuinely love. At the same time, I’m still a human being with a life outside of my books.

For those who don’t know, I’m a contracted author. Every month, I write and submit over 50,000 words, which means I’m usually updating for around 25 days every month. So when I go quiet for a few days, it isn’t because I’ve abandoned the story or forgotten about you. I literally can’t. My contract doesn’t allow me to disappear for months, and honestly, I wouldn’t want to.

The past few weeks have been especially exhausting because my family and I have been apartment hunting and preparing for a move. If you’ve ever searched for a new home, dealt with paperwork, packed your belongings, and tried to organize everything at once, then you probably know how mentally and physically draining the process can be.

Even through all of that, I’ve still been writing.

But here’s something I want to share from the heart.

I could sit down and force myself to write just to post a chapter. I could publish something simply because there’s a deadline. But that’s not the kind of author I want to be.

When I write, I want every chapter to carry emotion. I want the conversations to feel real. I want the characters’ choices to make sense. Sometimes that means spending hours rewriting a single scene because it just doesn’t feel right.

And yes… authors get writer’s block too.

Writer’s block doesn’t mean we’ve run out of ideas. Sometimes our minds are simply exhausted. Sometimes we know exactly what should happen next, but we can’t find the right words to make readers feel what the characters are feeling.

I never want to give you a chapter that feels rushed just because I wanted to meet an update. I’d rather spend a little more time polishing it than post something I’m not proud of.

If you’ve been reading my books for a while, you already know that I do my best to stay consistent. I take my work seriously, and I care deeply about every story I write.

So if there are days when updates are a little slower, I hope you’ll remember that behind the screen is a real person balancing writing deadlines, family responsibilities, and everything else life throws our way.

Thank you for being patient with me instead of giving up on my stories. Your comments, your support, your excitement, and even your impatience to read the next chapter remind me that these characters mean something to you, and that’s one of the greatest gifts an author could ever receive.

The next chapter is almost ready. I’m just finishing the final edit, and it should be up within the next hour.

Thank you so much for your patience, your support, and for believing in my story. I’m truly grateful to have each and every one of you here. Your love and encouragement mean more to me than words can express.

With love,

Pria Ambre 🖤

Girl, I’m so glad to only be on chapter 234 because i won’t have to worry about having to wait for an update! But I do need to read the book before this one and others you’ve written. It’s hard to come across writers like you, unfortunately. You hooked me from the first chapter <3

Sebastian stayed there a second longer, licking her through the last of it, then pulled back. His mouth was wet. He wiped it with the back of his hand and stood up. He stepped between her legs and looked down at her. Viola’s eyes were half-closed, lips parted, face flushed. For a second he just stared at her like that—breathing hard, jaw tight. Then he bent down and kissed her. It wasn’t soft. He took her mouth like he was still hungry, deep and possessive, sucking her tongue into his mouth with a wet sound that made her whimper. She could taste herself on him—tangy, sharp, mixed with the heat of his breath. Her hands came up and fisted in his shirt as she kissed him back with everything she had left, meeting every pull of his mouth, every wet drag of his tongue. He groaned into her, one hand sliding up into her hair to hold her still while he kissed her harder, deeper, until her lungs burned and the only thing she cou

Viola gasped, her hips jerking against his hand. He stretched her slowly, his thumb keeping up a punishing, circular pressure against her clit while his mouth moved up to her ear, his breath scorching. He slid a second finger in, pumping into her with a slow, heavy cadence that curled her toes and made her head spin. Suddenly, he pulled his hand out. Viola let out an involuntary sound of protest, but before she could open her eyes, Sebastian stood up in one fluid, powerful surge, hauling her off his lap into his arms. "Sebastian!" she gasped, grabbing his neck. He didn't reply. He kicked his heavy leather chair backward and laid her down flat onto the mahogany desk, sending a stack of thick folders crashing to the Persian rug below. He leaned over her, his breathing thick and ragged, dark strands of hair falling across his forehead. His amber eyes were nearly black, his pupils blown wide with raw, feral hunge

Sebastian raised one of his eyebrows. A dark, crooked spark of amusement cut through his fatigue. "Are you scolding me, wife?" At the word wife, Viola's cheeks heated up instantly. A sudden flush crept all the way up her neck, warming her face. She pressed both hands against the front of his shirt, feeling the slow, heavy thud of his heart beneath her palms. "Don't change the subject," she muttered, trying to keep her expression flat. "You need food." "Just this," Sebastian said, his voice dropping an octave, thick and low. "Let me finish reading this." His left arm stayed clamped around her waist, keeping her pinned firmly against his torso, while his right hand returned to the laptop trackpad, his fingers clicking steadily. Viola sat still, her head resting just beneath his jaw. Through the thin silk of her gown, she could feel the thick, rigid length of his arousal pressing hard against her hip.

Ten minutes later, the rubber wheels of a service trolley clicked over the threshold. Sofia wheeled it in, looking tense. A domed silver cloche covered the main plate, flanked by a carafe of water, a glass, and silverware. "Thank you, Sofia," Viola said, stepping up to take the trolley handle. "Go to sleep. You've been on your feet all day." "Are you sure, Madam? I can leave it outside the door—" "Go rest," Viola told her with a small, firm nod. "I'll take care of it." Sofia bowed her head and slipped out into the corridor. Viola waited until the door closed, then turned the cart around and pushed it out into the quiet hall. Two guards stood stationed at the corner leading to Sebastian's private study, their holsters strapped tight over dark suits. As Viola approached, the white silk of her hem whispering around her ankles, both men immediately dropped their heads, clasped their

Inside the room, the sound of weeping stopped instantly.Octavia lowered the handkerchief. With steady, deliberate strokes, she blotted the dampness from the corners of her eyes. Her shoulders straightened, shedding the fragile slump in an instant. Her face smoothed out, settling into a stillness as she walked back to the bay window, looking down at the gravel driveway below with dry eyes. For the rest of the afternoon, Viola’s mind was an exhausting, noisy mess. She walked through the southwest wing like a ghost. Every time the room went quiet, Octavia’s wet eyes flashed in her thoughts, followed by the broken rasp of her voice saying Theodore’s name.Is it possible? a traitorous whisper rose in her chest. Viola didn't move an inch. A cold knot twisted in her stomach, heavy with suspicion."Why?" Viola asked, her voice dropping lower, wary and sharp. "Why are you saying this right now?"Octavia let out a shuddering, broken exhale. Her head dropped, her shoulders caving inward for a moment before she forced herself to look back up through her tears, her eyes red and streaming."I had a dream," Octavia whispered. Her voice was thin, hollow, trembling like dry paper. "Your father... Theodore was standing right there. He didn't raise his voice. He just looked at me with so much sorrow... and he asked me what I had done with his little girl. How I could take my own misery and use it to destroy you."A heavy drop fell from Octavia’s chin, darkening the grey wool of Viola’s sleeve."I woke up in the dark and I couldn't breathe," Octavia went on, her fingers curling tighter into Viola's arms.
