Alessia's Pov
My head pounded like a bass drum when I finally came to reality. The silk sheets beneath me weren't mine, and the ceiling I stared at belonged to no room I recognized. I bolted upright and instantly regretted the sudden movement as nausea rolled through me. Memories from last night flooded back at the bar, Leo Costello, the drugged drink. My clothes had been changed; I was wearing an oversized men's shirt and nothing else. "Fuck," I whispered, scanning the room for an exit or a weapon, anything. "Good morning, detective." Leo stood in the doorway all dressed in a tailored charcoal suit, holding two cups of coffee. "Thought you might need this." I pulled the sheet up to my chin. "Where am I? What did you do to me?" "Relax." He set one cup on the nightstand beside me. "You're in my penthouse. And I didn't do anything you're imagining. My housekeeper changed you after you... got sick." "You drugged me," I accused. He shrugged with no flicker or remorse . "I needed a private conversation. Couldn't risk you making a scene." "So kidnapping was your solution? I'm leaving." I moved to stand, but my legs still felt weak. "I wouldn't recommend that." Leo's voice remained casual, but his eyes hardened. "Especially since your friend Marco is eager to see you." My blood ran cold. "Marco? What have you done with him?" Marco was my colleague at the district attorney's office—one of the few people who'd believed in my innocence when Matteo was arrested.. Leo studied me over the rim of his coffee cup. "Follow me when you're ready. Bathroom's there if you want to freshen up." He pointed to a door on the right. "Don't try anything stupid, Alessia. This building belongs to me. Every exit, every person works for me." He left and closed the door behind him. Not locking it, The message was clear: I wasn't getting out unless he allowed it. Ten minutes later, after splashing cold water on my face and finding a robe to cover myself, I followed the sound of voices down a hallway lined with modern art pieces that probably cost more than my yearly salary. I froze at the entrance to a spacious living area. Marco sat tied to a chair, blood seeping through his pants where a bullet had torn through his thigh. His face was bruised, his glasses were missing but his eyes widened when he saw me. "Alessia! Thank God. Are you hurt? Did they—" "Shut it, counselor." A burly man with a gun pressed it against Marco's temple. "Let him go," I demanded, my voice stronger than I felt. "He has nothing to do with any of this." Leo looked up, amused. "Nothing? Your boyfriend here has been helping build a case against my family. That makes him very much involved." "He's not my—" "Save it." Leo stood, walking toward me with predatory grace. "We've been watching you both. Recording you, All those late nights at the DA's office, the files you've been collecting." He circled me. "Did Matteo know you were planning to flip on him before he got pinched?" Marco struggled against his restraints. "Don't tell him anything, Alessia! He's just trying to—" The crack of a fist connecting with Marco's jaw echoed through the room and I flinched, rushing forward only to be caught by Leo's iron grip. "I wasn't working against Matteo," I said quickly. "I didn't know anything about his... business until yesterday." Leo's laugh was hollow. "Yet here you are, conspiring with a prosecutor." I watched in horror as the camera captured Leo helping me from the bar, my body limp and pliant. The footage cut to the inside of a car, where I was conscious but clearly drugged, answering questions about everything, every damn thing I wasn't supposed to be saying about the operation and Marco being in love with me could be the only reason why he was diligently working with me. God, I was clearly speaking gibberish about my Husband, Marco and even Leo. Marco's face flushed with humiliation as Leo paused the video. "That's not—I didn't say—" I stammered, but Leo raised an eyebrow. “What do you want Leo, kill and drop some trails of bodies for you before you release Marco and stop this madness?” His laugh was cold. "No, cara. By marrying me instead." The room went silent. Even Marco stopped struggling."You're insane," I finally managed. "I'm practical." Leo pulled out his phone, showing me a photo of Sofia Ricci leaving the police station. "Your mother-in-law made a deal this morning and threw you under the bus entirely. Said you were the brains behind Matteo's operation, that you pushed him into the family business." "That's a lie!" I shouted. "Of course it is but lies told by the grieving mother of an accused criminal carry weight. Especially when backed by the Costello family lawyers." His smile was razor-sharp. "By this time tomorrow, your face will be all over the news as the mastermind who seduced Matteo Ricci and pushed him into a life of crime." Marco spoke up. "We can fight this. Alessia, don't listen to him." Loe didn't give a damn about Marco's existence, his main focus was on me and when Marco was trying too hard to convince me, he ordered his men to shut him up. "Stop." My voice cracked. "Just stop. What exactly do you really want from me, Leo?" " He lifted my chin with his finger. "Marry me. Become Alessia Costello. I'll make the charges against you disappear, give you everything Matteo promised but never delivered." "And if I refuse?" His eyes went cold. "Then I release the video of you admitting to working with a prosecutor to the press. I leak evidence showing you knew about Matteo's business all along. I destroy your reputation, your future, and your friend's career. After that..." He shrugged. "People who betray the family tend to disappear." "You'd kill me?" "I'd have no choice." His tone suggested genuine regret. "Business is business." I looked at Marco, bleeding and desperate. At the men with guns. At the luxurious prison Leo had brought me to. "How do I know you'd keep your word? About Marco, about the charges?" "Because unlike your husband, I'm a man of honor." Leo took my hand. "Say yes, and Marco walks out of here now. Say no, and I put a bullet in his other leg." But I saw the truth in Leo's eyes. There was no fighting this. There was only survival. "If I agree," I said slowly, "what would be expected of me?" Leo's smile was triumphant. "To be the perfect wife in public. Support my business interests. Give me children. In return, you'll want for nothing." "And Matteo?" "Will remain exactly where he is. Prison." Leo's eyes hardened. "Make your choice, Alessia. Time's running out." I looked between the devil before me and the good man bleeding for me. The choice was impossible, yet crystal clear. To save one life, I would have to surrender my own. "I need your answer," Leo whispered, his breath hot against my ear. "Now.”Alessia's Pov "Yes." The word left my lips like a death sentence. "I'll marry you." Leo's smile spread slowly across his face as victory gleamed in his eyes. "Smart choice Alessia, I've always known you're a genius.." Marco thrashed against his restraints and glared at me as if I've gone mad"Alessia, no! You can't do this!" I couldn't look at him nor bear to see the disappointment in his eyes so I turned to Leo. "Let him go first, that was the deal." Leo snapped his fingers, and one of his men cut Marco's bindings. Another produced a first aid kit and roughly bandaged his thigh. "Get him out of here," Leo ordered. "Drop him at the emergency room downtown." "You can still fight this," Marco said desperately as they dragged him toward the door. "Witness protection—" "Enough." Leo's voice was ice. "She's made her choice and consider yourself lucky to be walking out of here at all." The last thing I saw was Marco's anguished face before the elevator doors closed, taking away my f
Alessia's Pov The Costello estate sprawled across five acres of pristine Connecticut landscape— it was a modern fortress disguised as a luxury mansion. As the car pulled through wrought iron gates bearing the family crest, my stomach twisted into knots. "We're here, Ms. Costello," the driver announced and this is the last time anyone would call me by that name. Leo waited on the steps and changed into casual clothes that somehow made him look more dangerous—dark jeans and a black button-down with sleeves rolled to reveal muscular forearms. His smile when he saw me held genuine pleasure, as if I was arriving for a date rather than my own imprisonment. "Welcome home," he said, opening my door and offering his hand. I ignored it and climbed out on my own. "This isn't my home." "Not yet." He took my elbow anyway, guiding me inside. "But it will be." The interior was a study in old money and power—vaulted ceilings, marble floors, priceless art. A team of staff appeared, taking my b
The rest of dinner passed in a strained conversation. When it finally ended, I felt like I'd been holding my breath for hours."I need some air," I told Leo as the others dispersed. He hesitated. "I have some business to discuss with my father. Don't go far." I wandered until I found a stone bench near a small fountain, collapsing onto it with shaking legs. The cool night air helped clear my head as I processed everything I'd witnessed."Rough first night with the family?"I startled at the voice, turning to find a man watching me from the shadows. Tall, with sandy hair and an easy smile, he didn't look like the Costello security I'd seen earlier. He looked soft and nice. "Who are you?" I asked, still feeling tense as I didn't trust a soul to be here alone."Ryan." He stepped forward, hands in his pockets. "I work for the family. Security consultant."Something about him seemed different with the Costello operation—too casual, too approachable."I didn't know Leo allowed his staff t
Alessia's PovI stood at the window of my new office, staring at the city below. Just yesterday, I had been planning a future as Leo Moretti's wife. Today, everything has changed as I stared at the space before me "This isn't what we agreed on," I said without turning around, feeling Leo's presence behind me."Plans change, Alessia," he replied with that infuriating calm tone that made me want to scream. "Most people would kill for this opportunity."I spun around with my eyes flashing. "Let's call it what it really is—you want me to be your spy in the International Crime Department as your insurance policy? You're fucking insane."Leo approached my desk, that half-smile playing on his lips. "I need someone I can trust in that department. They've been investigating my operations for months.""And instead of going legitimate like you promised, you're planting me as your mole?" I laughed bitterly. "I thought I was going to be planning dinner parties, not becoming an accessory to your c
Alessia's Pov Glass shattered somewhere in the penthouse. I flinched as Leo shoved me behind him, drawing a gun from his jacket in one fluid motion."Stay down and stay quiet," he ordered with a voice barely audible above the chaos erupting around us.A burst of gunfire sent me ducking behind a sofa. Despite everything, Leo positioned himself between me and the door, his body a human shield."Isn't this ironic?" I hissed. "Protecting the woman who just ruined you?"Leo's eyes flashed in the dim light. "You didn't ruin me, Alessia. You just complicated things." He checked his weapon with practiced ease. "And despite what you think of me, I don't let people I care about die.""Since when do you care about anyone but yourself?" The words came out more bitter than I intended.A humorless smile crossed his face. "We'll discuss my many character flaws later—if we live through this."The door to the study burst open. One of Leo's security men stumbled in, clutching his bleeding shoulder. "T
Alessia's Pov He didn't answer me or spare me a glance as he was angry. "What happens now?" I asked, fear creeping through me as I thought of my mother who felt vulnerable and alone."Now," he answered from the doorway, "you pay for your betrayal."My breath hitched in fear as I twisted my hands nervously and waited for the worst to happen as long as it had nothing to do with my mother."Your mother is safe," he said finally. "She's being transferred to a private wing in my hospital as we speak. No one will find her there."Relief flooded through me that I nearly collapsed. "Thank you," I whispered."Don't thank me," Leo said coldly. "Not when your recklessness put her in danger in the first place." He moved further into the room, tossing his bloodied coat onto a chair. "Do you have any idea what you've done and the forces you've unleashed against me?""I was trying to free myself," I said, my voice small."Free yourself?" Leo laughed as the sound was harsh and without humor. " We fu
Chapter 9Alessia's Pov “Leo...” I whimper, arching my back, unable to suppress the pleasure I feel when he goes lower and takes a nipple in his mouth, all the while playing with my other breast. God. Oh, God. He sure knows how to put his mouth to good use. I wasn't supposed to feel this way, I'm supposed to push him away but if this is the punishment he wanted to give kefir messing up, I'd rather take this.“These beauties have been taunting me since the fucking night you entered my car. So fucking gorgeous,” he admires in a voice calculated and tranquil, low and guttural. If this is supposed to be wrong, why does it feel so right? Leo lifts my gown to my thighs and kisses a trail from my legs to my inner thighs. My breathing becomes uneven as I anticipate what is to come. He finally gets to where I need him the most and I nearly jump out of my skin at the sensation it ignites. “Fuck!” I cry out, my hips bucking in satisfaction. Leo adds two fingers to the mix, finger fucking me sl
Chapter 10"Miss Alessia, the laundry needs folding."I looked up from my laptop to see Greta, Leo's housekeeper, standing in the doorway of my room. Her thin lips were pressed into their usual disapproving line, her gray hair pulled back so tightly it seemed to stretch her skin."I'm working, Greta," I replied, gesturing to the security reports I was analyzing. "Leo asked me to review these by this afternoon."Her eyebrows rose slightly. "Mr. Moretti may indulge your... position here, but the household still needs maintenance or perhaps you think yourself above such duties?"I bit back a sharp retort. Greta had been with Leo's family for decades, practically raising him after his mother died. She ran his household with military precision and wielded her influence like a weapon—particularly against me. She's been a pain in the ass type the past few months, I didn't sign up for covering his ass at work and also turning to a household who offended the gods at home."Our agreement was th
Alessia’s POVMy head throbbed like someone had been using it as a damn drum. Everything felt too white and too bright. My body felt too light like I’d been floating in limbo and just got slammed back into reality.Where the hell was I?The soft beeping of machines and the sterile smell of antiseptic hit me all at once. I blinked, squinting against the brightness overhead. The ceiling wasn’t familiar as It wasn’t the mansion. The sheets weren’t silk and the air wasn’t thick with cigar smoke or tension.I jerked up as panic crawled down my spine like ice.“Leo?” My voice cracked, barely a whisper. “Leo!”There was nothing, Just the quiet hum of a heart monitor and my own ragged breathing.Where was he? Where was I?I tried to move but something tugged at my arm. An IV, Great. Just great! Something looked so wrong and I couldn't even remember what happened. I ripped it out, hissing at the sting. I swung my legs off the bed, but the second my feet hit the floor, the door opened the l
Nina’s POVI knew damn well Leo would lose his shit if he found out what I was doing. So I kept it quiet and didn't say a word about Alessia'l when I went to see her and found out that she had already passed out from consciousness. I called in a few men I trusted, or at least thought I did because I had to get Alessia out of the picture. The girl was a walking headache with a pretty face, and Leo… Leo wasn’t seeing clearly when it came to her. I've been in the mansion for years trying to get him to see me and just when I thought I'm having that favour, she crushed it before it began. She had to go and it was as simple as that.I didn’t need to lift a finger—just made a few calls, gave a few orders, and watched from my bedroom window as the bastards did exactly what I told them to. Quiet and Clean like she was never there, no even Leo could suspect a thing in his own mansion because he's already too busy handling other important deals.I called my mother after, expecting a lecture may
(Alessia’s POV)“You act like you don’t want it,” he growled, his voice hoarse and desperate. “You pretend you’re not like the rest, but you’re just another tease in silk.”“I’ll scream,” I warned, heart pounding. “I’ll gut you.”He laughed, dark and broken. “Try.”And then he lunged.I barely had time to move. He caught me mid-turn, shoving me back until I hit the bed. His weight pinned me down, hands grabbing, fumbling.I thrashed, kicked, screamed bloody murder—but the room felt too far away from reality. My skin was on fire from the earlier drug, my body moving slower than my mind. I felt like I was swimming in cement.“Let go of me!” I shrieked. His hands were on my wrists now, forcing them above my head.“You don’t say no to me,” he spat. “Not tonight please.”He leaned down. His breath hit my face, sour and wild, and I swear I felt my soul leave my body. But just as his lips brushed my cheek—BANG.The door didn’t open. It exploded. And there, standing in the smoke, eyes darker
Leo's Pov I knew today was going to be shit the second I walked into the warehouse and half my men looked like they were about to start praying.Word spreads fast in this world, very fast especially when you’ve got a woman like Alessia doing things she wasn’t supposed to—like leaking footage of me to the goddamn press. One little leak, one blurred face, one inch of bare leg on camera and suddenly, every business partner I had was acting like I gave them herpes. My Meetings were pulled and Money paused. It was as if we were suddenly on a thin fuckin’ ice, and all because my lovely wife had a moment of rage and forgot she was married to the devil.Rico kept pacing behind me like a nervous rat, while I sat there staring at the same spreadsheet for the third time. Nothing was moving as there was no shipments, No intel or clear route for our next hand-off. “Boss,” Rico muttered, voice low, “Viktor’s here.”I didn’t move. Just tilted my head slightly.“Send the bastard in.”Viktor walked
Alessia’s POVThe next day was even worse especially at the fact I was supposed to be working but Leo won't say a word about it, I know I messed up but who wouldn't do what I did if they were in my shoes. Nina stood in the hallway with two glasses of champagne, she smiled at me and it was clear to know that it's fake. She arrived here yesterday and was already calling me names, flirting with Leo and acting like an angel again but she held the glass out to me like she came in peace.“I’ve been a total bitch,” she said with a fake little pout. “I’m sorry, it's just so weird to see someone else in the mansion aside from Leo and my mother.”I didn’t respond right away, I just stared at her, wondering if drinking anything from her hand was basically asking for a death wish but I was tired of the glares and the silent treatment I was putting myself through concreting more enemies wasn't an ideal thing to do, So I took the glass which was Stupid despite my subconscious mind was screaming a
Alessia’s POVI didn’t see Leo the entire morning, and honestly, I preferred it that way. After what happened last night and watching him hand over the key to Ricci like I was some idiot playing checkers with a king, I didn’t want to breathe the same damn air as him. I stayed locked in the guest room he assigned me to. Every small sound outside my door had me flinching like a scared mouse. Leo hadn’t touched me or yelled, he hadn’t punished me yet and that’s what made it worse. He was silent like a loaded gun you knew was about to go off.By noon, I was losing my mind. I stared at the cracked screen of my burner phone when a soft knock landed on the door that made me almost scream. My heart punched my ribs as I tiptoed to the door and cracked it open, half expecting Leo’s cold glare but it wasn’t him. It was a young girl in her twenties, she was definitely the same age as mine or maybe older. "Hi," she said sweetly. "You must be Alessia." I nodded at her as I stared in confusion
Leo's Pov I wasn’t stupid because one doesn't build an empire from blood and bullets by ignoring the twitch in your gut when something feels off.And Alessia? She was screaming off these days louder than a snitch in a confession booth. She thought she was slick, flashing that pretty little smile and batting those gorgeous eyes at me like I didn’t see the way her hands shook every time she touched me or I didn’t notice her jumping at every goddamn shadow and hiding things plus locking herself away like I was the monster under her bed.Cute.Real fucking cute."Keep an eye on her," I ordered Marco and Vito after breakfast, low and cold so she wouldn’t hear. "Don’t spook her, just tail her tight. I want to know where she goes next."Marco grunted before nodding. "You think she’s running boss?"I gave a cold and sharp smile while drinking the wine on the table. "I’m thinking she’s already halfway gone."And by noon, I had the answer I didn’t want.Vito’s voice crackled through the burner
Alessia's Pov I knew what I had to do to bring an end to all of this shit but my mother was on the line and any mistake of any kind would send her dead.Leo was dangerous when he was suspicious and right now, he was a hair-trigger away from tearing the city apart for me. If I didn’t move fast, my entire plan would crash and burn.I waited until after dinner and made sirte he was relaxed. I watched him quietly as one hand nursed a whiskey, the other flipping through a stack of intelligence reports. I waited until he let his guard down and he looked at me with that dangerous mix of protectiveness and desire that made my body betray me every time.I thought of the punishment he said I was going to give to him and even though it sounded so awkward and silly, I was ready to do it now, anything to distract Leo Ricci from finding out about my scheme qothmybex husband who was after my life.I slipped onto his lap without a word and his brows furrowed as he looked up, amused. "Starting troubl
Leo's PovI was reviewing the shipment ledgers in my office as my head was pounding from back-to-back meetings, when the faint sound of heels echoed down the marble hallway and it was no other than my wife, Alessia. I didn't need to look up to know it was her. I didn’t need to look at all to know something was wrong. The moment she walked in, everything in me snapped to attention. Her movements were way too careful, too fucking deliberate that she didn’t meet my gaze the way she usually did, didn't throw that smart mouth at me either. And when she did glance at me, her hand shot up awkwardly to her neck, like she was trying to hide something.I leaned back in my chair and jaw clenched in displeased. "Alessia," I said slowly. "Come here."She froze, then moved toward me, stiff as a damn soldier and I didn't miss the way the housekeeper, Greta, lingered around her, unusually tender and offering her a plate of food like she was nursing a wounded animal. Alessia barely looked at her and
