Chapter 0009

#Chapter7

Good or Bad?

I ate silently, turning to stare at Corey's sleeping figure once in a while. His mum stayed quiet too, just sitting down in thought. The food was good, and I was enjoying it but I was also thinking of the next step to take.

I had been chased away from my home for a false reason by my mate. My forever. I shook my head in fake humor when I felt a little singe in my throat as I swallowed hard. My eyes were already becoming blurry again and I hated it. I didn't want to cry, I didn't want to admit that I missed my home, I didn't want to admit that I was broken and hurt.

The only person that I could trust right now, was my wolf. We were the ones we had left.

I dropped the empty plate and cleaned my eyes as she turned to me due to the sound. She came closer to me with her face filled with pity, not sure if she could hug me.

"It's okay, I already rang Daniel's land phone, he will come and pick-"

She stopped for a second and her eyes flashed the familiar blue color that I saw at the lake.

"-he's here, I just let him in." She completed and she raised my head to look at her. My mouth widened when I realized she was mouthing something slowly.

"Don't trust him," She mouthed and I nodded, "See me and Corey before you leave."

I nodded at her again and she stood up, heading to the door and opening it quietly. Someone stepped in and they exchanged bows.

I stood up, looking at him and he froze as he stared at me. He had the face that Iziah's friends used to have when they looked at me, then. The kind I wanted to squash in.

He was good-looking too with his sandy blonde hair but there was a way I felt uncertain on the inside, and I suspected that feeling was from my wolf.

"Hi, I'm Daniel," He introduced and I bowed like I saw them do earlier, realizing that I hadn't told anyone my name.

"Everest," I said, feeling good to use that name. Just like the name implied, I wanted to be the best and I intended to remain that way.

"But you're pretty short," He joked and stopped when he saw my bored expression. I wanted to pound him in. "Let's get going Miss Everest."

I nodded and the woman came to me with a necklace-like thing in her hands. On instinct, I just bent down so that she could put it on me.

"No one will know you're in the pack, I use it at times to get something from the market. It stops working after twelve hours so please be out before seven, because it's activated now," I bopped my head and bowed my head in gratitude.

"Thank you, ma'am," I expressed and she shook her head at me immediately.

"I'm Bonnie," She corrected and I smiled at her. "Alright, you two should get going before it gets dark. The guards are extra mean at that time."

Daniel breathed out and started walking towards the door. With a final glance, I smiled at Corey's sleeping figure again, knowing that, that was the final chance I would get to see it again. There would be no time to stop by and say hi.

We stepped outside and I saw the red sand part again, which we went through immediately. He didn't seem to be raising any conversation so I felt better as we walked but I couldn't help but wince once in a while whenever I felt the disturbing pains around my body.

He looked back once in a while but still didn't say anything. We passed the lake and I started forward, pretending like I didn't have a single idea of what happened there as we passed the dead wolves. I smiled to myself when I noticed the unconscious rogue was gone.

I felt sort of good for having it at my mercy and I hoped it didn't make me look crazy. Our legs scrunched into the sand as we passed over one of them that had the branch in its heart. I stared at Daniel, surprised that he wasn't saying anything. Maybe he was used to these kinds of things, who knows?

He stopped abruptly and I stopped in the same manner. My ears perked up when I heard water, and I noted that the stream had continued not so far off. I picked no sound of footsteps so I wondered why he was cautious all of sudden.

"We are here, notice the trees. I always want you to notice the blood on the trees, they are used to mark a border," He taught and I looked around, noticing the red 'M' written with blood.

"Okay, I see no guards," I replied and he nodded.

"Midnight Pack is pretty lenient, unlike the Undead. These are the outlands, like the outskirts and it's okay to stay here. But you see those trees, once you pass them, you'll have a bunch of wild guards on your trail," He continued and I nodded, practically in class. So that was why I was given this chain then.
