Selene’s POV

I stood rooted to the spot when it dawned on me that the healer and the guards returned to the palace safely. My men were nowhere to be found. I had paid the men from Trevor’s Den a huge amount of money to carry out the attack perfectly.

‘What could have happened?’ I thought.

I tried my best to keep a straight face as the healer approached the palace. I was shocked to see that the healer was very young. Darius looked so happy as though he had won a jackpot when he saw them.

He kept chanting ‘Thank you moon goddess, thank you moon goddess.

I quickly entered my room unsure what to do as I pace up and down around the room. I wondered why all my plans kept failing. The men had promised me that they would try all they could to stop the healers from coming to the palace.

But they arrived looking unscathed as though there was no obstacle during their journey. I figured that I had to go to the Trevor’s and confirm what happened and why their mission failed.
