Chapter 2: Piercing gaze

Emma's POV

The wedding was still on and I stood with the less sulking Nancy while smilingly chatting with the guests who came to congratulate me, I saw many of them checking me and Nancy out not even hiding it, it seemed like they couldn't help it making me chuckle and Nancy to smile from ear to ear, this was one of the things that she thought that she would miss once I get married, but seeing the men not even caring to know whether I'm in a wedding dress or not added to her happiness.

"Maybe I will try to get married too and check if they will still gawk at me I'm front of my husband, and after I will divorce him" She smiled so brightly as if she had made the best plan of her life since she started thinking for herself, but I know she was joking, if one meet this Nancy and the Nancy that's in her office whilst signing deals they would thought that she was a different person.

"Congratulations gorgeous, you look looked the best today" Mrs. Selena Harrison, one of the wealthy family here and a business partner to Jose's family congratulated, she looked me up and down and finally smiled, Nancy scoffed by my side at the woman's behavior whilst looking away, we Know this time of people, if she didn't know me and my businesses she would have 'tag' me a gold digger and chose not to know my name but now I'm 'gorgeous', I ignored Nancy behavior and smiled warmly at her, my pretty face brightened as if I was so happy for her compliment, she laughed lightly in a good mood, whilst grumbling something about 'if his son would have chosen to be in a relationship with a wealthy and pretty girl such as me she would have been happy' I ignored her as if I didn't hear anything she said and answered "Thank you so much, Mrs. Selena, I look forward to your parental care and advises in the future" she smiled and happily left to meet some of her friends and I heaved a sigh of relief.

Even though as a CEO who has met with many types of people, I found it hard conversing with this type the most, I turned to look at Nancy with a questioning gaze "That was disrespectful Nancy, even though she didn't hear your scoff and you didn't like ber, you should at least smile at the woman" I said, I swear if I haven't seen how this girl beside me smiles at business partners 'Sincerely' I would have believed that this spoilt character is her real character.

"That's one of the things I don't like about marriage, sucking up the people like her every day? I can't suck up to them at work and then suck up to them again at home, for fuck sake I would die untimely death" she feigned extreme exhaustion making me laugh out loud and drawing some attention, I swear this girl is a comedian.

As I was about to wave to the people that I unintentionally distracted an wave, my eyes caught the sight of s male staring at me, his blue piercing eyes seemed to see every one of my secrets, his black hair cascading to his face, almost covering his eyes but the blue eyes was still prominent, I can see from here that the male was devilishly handsome, his tall frame that was a little above six feet was resting on a wall, he wore a black pants, sleek black shoe, and a shirt, his upper chest button was open revealing his drop dead, nose bleeding and arousing collarbone and his muscular chest middle cut, that was so deep and sexy, I subconsciously gulped my eyes unable to leave his gaze, and I saw something like a smirk from his well-proportioned lips.

There was something about him that looked familiar yet strange at the same time, for a moment I forgot that I was at my wedding, the male looked dangerous, yet I wanted to know more 'Wait what?!!, know what?!' I screamed inside my head and shook my head multiple times as if I wanted to remove his image from my head but the more I tried the more it became permanent making me remember what my mom told me once "...the more you try to forget, the more it will become vivid" I shuddered.

I haven't tried to forget anything in my life, not up to this moment, I teared my gaze away from his and back to Nancy, but I could feel my body burning from our earlier encounter, Nancy noticed my condition and frowned "What is wrong Emma?, your body seems so flustered?" she asked but I shook my head "It's nothing Nan" I replied looking around the hall to avoid her gaze and also avoiding that particular area that caused me distress earlier, but when my curious-cat eyes curiously looked back to that spot, he has already left and I heaved a sigh but deep inside me there was a slight disappointment that I was feeling, leaving me puzzled.
