In the shadowed alleys of Ravenwood, Celeste Osborne finds herself irresistibly drawn to the enigmatic and dangerously alluring Lucian Bathory. Hired as an au pair for the mysterious Bathory family, Celeste quickly discovers that Lucian is no ordinary man—he’s a centuries-old vampire with a thirst for blood and a hunger that goes far beyond the physical. As Celeste is pulled deeper into Lucian’s dark world, the boundaries between fear and desire begin to blur. Her days are filled with tension, but it’s in the secret hours of the night that their passions ignite. Lucian’s touch awakens something wild within her, something she never knew existed, but it comes at a price. His world is one of power, danger, and ancient rivalries, and loving him means embracing a darkness that could consume her whole. As their forbidden romance intensifies, Celeste must decide if she’s willing to surrender to the seductive pull of Lucian’s world, where every kiss could be her last and every touch could bind her to him for eternity. In this tale of love, lust, and immortality, Celeste will learn that some desires are worth risking everything—even her soul. "Crimson Shadows: Forbidden Thirst" is Book I of the Crimson Shadows series. It is a dark and passionate story where love and danger entwine, pushing the boundaries of what it means to surrender to desire.
View MoreUniversity starts in three days. I am excited and a little nervous at the same time. Nervous, because I have just started at Ravenwood and I don't know anybody. Excited, because I can't wait to start classes!
My plane landed yesterday, in the evening, and the only thing I have seen of the town so far is this horrible motel room. As I am exhausted I could have slept anywhere. Thanks to jet lag, I slept until noon.
Today, I have to settle my registration formalities. For that, I have to go to the admissions office at the University. What a program! I think I’ve got everything I need for my registration in my little shoulder bag.
I am trying to explore the city, but it will have to wait. I pause for a moment in front of the university.
WHOAAA!!!!
Amazing! The architecture of the building facing me is really impressive. I love this mixture of modern and antique styles. Between the red break building and the sculpted columns, the atmosphere is really different, chic and studious.
I look at the paths lined with trees and areas of grass. It is very welcoming. I feel immediately in harmony with this place. I can already imagine myself spending my time here!
The campus seems huge. It looks like a neighbourhood in its own right. I hope I don't get lost. Thanks to the signposts, I manage to find my way and push open the doors of the administrative building.
But after about fifteen minutes, it becomes obvious: I have no idea where I am. All the corridors look the same, I feel a little lost. Which way should I go?
I hear footsteps coming up behind me. A young girl comes forward. She is very beautiful. She’s got an eye-catching trendy look about her. I can feel her energy.
Unlike me, she seems to know exactly where she is. Maybe she could help me?
“Excuse me….?”
She strides over to me. Everything about her exudes self-confidence. “Hi, are you here to enrol?”
“Yes, how did you know?”
“It’s the only valid reason to being here before the school starts!”
I chuckle at her wit. “I’m looking for the admissions office, but I’m having trouble finding my way…”
“You’re new?”
“Is it that obvious?”
“Let’s say I haven’t seen you around before and I’ve lived here forever. So it’s not hard to guess.”
“That explains why you seem so at ease.” I comment.
She laughs and links her arm through mine. “Don’t worry, I'll show you where it is. I have to go there too…. By the way, my name is Sarah.”
“Celeste Osborne” I introduce myself.
She takes me to the admissions office. Once outside the door, I take the papers out of my bag and Sarah grabs them. “I want to take a look at the options you’ve chosen!”
I watch her until she lets out an excited squeal. It startles me and I stare at her with round eyes. She’s a little weird, this girl.
“You’re enrolled on the course Myths and Legends! Me too!”
“Awesome!” Well, I think it is.
This girl is mysterious, playful and explosive at the same time—the complete opposite of me. I’ll have to adapt. As they say, opposites attract.
Given our differences, this is perhaps the beginning of a great friendship!
Once the formalities are over, Sarah drags me to exit. I have a hard time following her. “Hey… Not so fast!”
Once outside, she drags me along. We sit on a bench in the shade of a large oak tree. “I have a feeling this is new year is going to be thrilling!”
I stay quiet. Unlike her, everything is new to me. I’ll need to find my marks before I feel so enthusiastic.
Her brows furrow. “You seem a little anxious…”
This girl reads me like an open book.
“It’s not easy to move to a city where you don’t know anyone.”
“Well, that’s not quite the case… You know me, now!” she beams. Her enthusiasm is contagious.
“Anyway, thank you very much for guiding me through the labyrinth! I thought I was going to get lost!”
“Don’t worry, I know my way around here, tell me, what do you say to a little tour of the city?!”
“Maybe later, I already have a busy evening ahead…”
“Really, you landed in town yesterday and you already have plans? You don’t waste time, do you!”
“I committed myself to something before arriving. But when I arrived yesterday evening I was so exhausted that I rushed into the first motel that I came across.”
“Judging by the look on your face, it couldn't have been that great!”
I laugh with her. “Thank you!”
“If it’s that bad, I can put you up, until you find something else.” she offered.
“That’s kind of you, but don’t worry. I’ve found a place as an au pair in a local family. I’ll take care of their little girl and, in exchange, they give me accommodation, and it’s also a good way to help pay my school fees.”
“Well, that’s lucky.”
I smile. “I think so too.”
“Won’t it be too far from the campus?” she asks.
“I don’t know, I’m going tonight for the first time.”
“Who’s the family? Maybe I know…”
I hesitate about telling her, I hardly know her. Why is she interested? Well… After all, it’s not top secret… “Bathory, an old family, born and bred here, from what I understand.”
Sarah is transformed before my eyes. She looks like she has seen a ghost.
I put my hand on her shoulder. “Everything okay?”
She gets up quickly and backs away from me. “No, no… It’s nothing, I’ve just remembered i have something to do…”
“Something to do…?”
Sarah is really weird all of a sudden. Well… even weirder than before.
“Yeah, stupid, huh? Sometimes I'm a real airhead!” Yet that’s not the impression she gave me.
She’s already a way off when she gives me a wave. This didn’t sit well with me. I catch up to her and insist. “There seems to be a problem. Did I say something I shouldn't have?”
She pauses for a bit and says, “We’ll see each other in three days when classes start!” And with that, she literally flees. I just don't get it!
I watch her go off feeling doubtful. Ok… she’ll get over it, as my grandmother says!
I slowly get going myself. I’m in no rush, I want to make the most of the sun before nightfall.
Next minute, we're immersed in the Manor's pool, just under my window. When I emerge, still hanging onto his neck, I try to catch my breath."I'm going to kill you!""Come on, little thing. Admit that you loved it, I can feel the excitement vibrating inside of you." We stare at each other lovingly for a long while in silence staying perfectly still. I reach out and touch his cheek. I'm worried that it's all just a dream. But no, he's really here in front of me."I missed you so much...""We shouldn't... Draven is going to kill us.""No he won't! Come here..." He suddenly draws me against him and keeps me nestled in the hollow of his arm. I am happier than I've ever been.I move away slightly and plunge my eyes into his. His eyes are gentle. I can read all the tenderness he has for me. I embrace him and lay a gentle kiss on his mouth. He slides his tongue over my lips. I sigh with pleasure. Each touch brings my body a little closer to burning point.I arch my back pressing myself again
By the end of the day, I still haven't seen Lucian! If Sarah hadn't been there, I don't know what I'd have done. I'd probably have drowned in sorrow. I am nevertheless, quite depressed. His absence leaves a gaping hole in my chest. I miss it terribly.Sarah had a very good idea organizing this night in. I couldn't have gone back to the manor. Everything there reminds me of Lucian. Every room, every nook and corner. Despite my disagreement with Draven, I am grateful to him for allowing me to get out and breathe away from them.WHEN I arrive at Sarah's, I immediately collapse on her bed."I bought some mint chocolate ice cream, just get your mind off things.""It won't be too much!""Nothing like a little sugar to make a sad girl feel better!""It doesn't work, miracles either!""You never know!" Sarah goes to the kitchen and comes back victoriously carrying the tub of ice cream. She sits beside me and hands me a spoon."Go on, let it all out!""What do you mean?""It's a girl's night i
"Still, I don't think it's necessary for you to forbid us from seeing each other. We're not kids!""Yet you both behave like one.""That's not fair! I made a mistake, one little mistake! I think your punishment is cruel!""Oh yeah? Tell that to the poor man you nearly killed last night!""Yes, but I didn't!""You were lucky, it could have been much worse, I had to use my power on him to cover you and protect the family! So, until I can trust you again, you don't see each other outside the manor and that's final!" With these words, he gets up and leaves the room without a goodbye.I feel terrible. My stomach is in knots again. I'm not sure I eat anything."Don't fret Celeste... He just needs a bit of time, you really scared him!""I didn't want to... I didn't see him coming and...""I know, you'd never do anything to hurt anyone intentionally and slip-ups happen, we've all been there. Now, eat up!""I don't feel like it...""I told you human food wasn't good!" Laura forces a smile out
Once in my room, we remain silent for a long time. What just happened is horrible. Anxiety comes over me as I fix Lucian, speechless. I discover with horror aside to my gifts which I hadn't imagined. I just cause a car accident and a man may have died because of me...My mind drifts to my parents who died in a road accident. All of a sudden my legs give way and I collapse to the ground holding my head in hands. There's a bitter taste in my mouth and a lead weight in my stomach. I tremble like a leaf, I feel so bad... Lucian immediately rushes towards me and puts his arms around my shoulders, drawing me up against him.I want to cry. I'd like to go back in time before this all happened, but it's impossible. I know only too well, you can't fight death."Don't worry. Everything work out fine.""You think so? My God. I feel so bad...""Believe me, Draven will take care of everything.""Draven... He warned me but I don't listen... It's all my fault! It's my fault if that man doesn't come b
I fix for a moment the cars parked below and rub my hands together. I slowly make the power inside me rise, containing it in order to prepare myself. If Draven hears about it, I'm dead meat! As for Lucian, he'll have all eternity to suffer his wrath.I close my eyes and focus on a car with increased attention. I try to move it but only manage to make it shake on the spot. I realize that it's extremely difficult to try this kind of magic trick at such a distance and on such a heavy object. I try again but it still doesn't work, I sigh."If you get annoyed, it won't work at all. Be patient.""It's so frustrating to know that I'm capable of it but that my power doesn't obey me.""The more you train, the easier it'll get, you have to give yourself time." For once, I don't listen. A bit annoyed, I concentrate again.Only, instead of being calm and posed as Draven advised me, I let myself be overwhelmed by my emotions. I'm soon invaded by a great force, whirling in me as if ready to fight.
"You should see the look on your face, the whole lecture theatre knows what you're thinking of, or rather, of whom...""What's it got to do with you? Go see Logan if you're desperate!""She's right, you know, you are very... Transparent." Sarah"You aren't going to start too, are you?" I asked the bitch."Oh come on, was it that good with Lucian last night?""Better than that!""Uh... That explains the great eyes and rosy cheeks." Sarah"Rubbish!" I listen for a few minutes to the boring monologue of the teacher, then I retort."How can you expect me to concentrate? It's the weekend in a few minutes.""Have you got something planned?”"Lucian's planning something...""Wow... What a perfect man this Lucian!""I'm crazy about him..." She contemplates me, thoughtful."As I can see." I wish she could understand and be happy for me. But I understand that the situation is difficult for her, as her friend's going out with a guy that she hates. Complicated situation!"So why all the fuss?""H
