Lina’s POV
“ What do you think you are doing?” I asked Josh when he tugged me away, everything had happened so fast. How was it possible that he had been able to ditch Emily so fast and my brother as well, Max? Oh my God. I clasped a hand against my mouth, scared at what was going to happen. If we were found here together. “ What do you think you are doing?” I asked again when I didn't get an answer to the fast, he was pulling me so fast that I didn't know what to make about this. Why was it that he couldn't even think? And why does it have to be now? “ I needed to get your attention, you left without saying a word to me” he said, shutting the door. “ That's because I don't have anything to say to you, you know that” “Lina, I had to explain, you know we had things planned out, I never knew that was going to happen, I never wanted the engagement, and you know about that, you know I have someone I love, someone I want to keep by my side for the rest of my life and that isn't Emily” “ I don't care,” I lied. “ You know there is nothing that is going to change this, your engagement with Emily has happened and that's it” “I don't want her and I'm serious, give me enough time to get rid of her and until then, we can go out on our date, two months Lina, don't you want to know what it feels like to date me for those months?” His lips were so close to mine, and even when all I wanted to do was pull him against mine, I knew I couldn't do so. It wasn't even part of the plan. His body leaned against mine, his eyes penetrated mine and I was so scared he would see I hadn't meant all of those, that they were all lies. That I craved him, wanted him so much it was heart wrenching to even think. “ Josh” He slipped a finger on my lips, still looking at me. “ Lina, I will do whatever you want me to do but don't tell me this is over before giving this, us a chance. We deserve our real chance at love, we do” “ But there is no way she will know, the person you love wouldn't even know” “ Leave that to me” he held my gaze, his honey brown orbs doing things to me I never knew existed. His fingers grazed my shoulders, while he never pulled away. “ Two months Lina, that's all I ask and I will get out of this engagement soon enough” Chewing on my lips, I tried to think straight, tried to hide how much effect his words, his eyes and even his fingers had on me. I had to clasped down the filthy thoughts in me, the one where I imagined his fingers in between my folds instead of mine and his taking me to a higher height than mine would ever give me. “ Fine,” I answered. “ Two months and I don't want you with Emily, you have to break it off with her” “ I promise to do that, Lina” I chuckled in a laughter, thinking about how nice it would have been if I had to do this behind Emily's back, where her betrothed had been sneaky with me. I would have loved that. “ Thank you” his minty breath fanned my ear, before he pulled away. “I have to leave before your brother comes searching for me” he leaned closer, brushing his lips over mine for a bit before walking away. My hands dug into my skirt, the wish I had of him slipping in-between my lips, locked in my heart, maybe it would happen but for now, I had to do with what I had. His scent filled the air as he shut the door behind him after stepping away, bringing me back to my senses and that was when I knew where exactly we were, a hall in which anyone could have seen us. Racking a hand through my hair, I pondered on when exactly I had turned so reckless when I was never one for that. I had thrown all caution to the wind, and I knew so well that if he had wanted more and by wanted more, desired to touch me, not just on my lips but down there, I would have let him. Leaning against the wall, I let it all soak in, his promises, his lips and maybe, this short time I had to spend with him, I wanted to believe that he will do just what he had said, he will find a way to get out of the engagement with Emily. She didn't deserve him, not that I was sure anyone who wasn't I deserved him anyways. The chattering drew closer, taking a glance at my outfit, I ran a hand across it, making sure there wasn't going to be any crested part which would give something away. Padding across the hall, I pushed the door open, attempting to walk out when Emily stood in front of me, peering through what I had on. I swallowed the lump stuck in my throat, before trying to move past her when she gave me a shove that had me finding myself back inside that hall. “ What do you think you are doing?” I questioned, taking note of the Jimmy Choo heels she had on, who exactly would wear a heel on her uniform? Well, there you go, Emily will do something such as that. “We weren't done talking when you left yesterday” “ That is because I have nothing to say to you” she made sure I saw the ring, the one with a little diamond embedded in the midst of it, which shone when the sun struck it, how it would have felt to rip that out right away, it would be blissful. So blissful I had tried again to walk past her when she grasped my arms, forcing me to look at her which I did, disdain coursing through my features. “I wouldn't do that if I was you” I retorted at her, still trying to get my arm from her claws, they were beginning to dig in deep and I didn't like that. Anything that would end up scalding me was out of it, I couldn't let that happen. “I am sure your brother doesn't know what happened last night, with you and Josh in the garden all alone” I seethed with rage at the words she had uttered, sighing deeply to calm myself before staring at her. “You think I have something with Josh? Really? Why will I ever be interested in him?” “You don't?” “You should know Emily that I am the least person you should care about when it comes to Josh, do you actually think he will think of dating me? He has always hated me” I lied to her, anything to make her believe me. It will get her off my back while Josh comes up with a way to get out of their engagement. “You really mean that?” Peeling her hands up, I took note of how students were beginning to draw closer and how we were beginning to garner attention which was the last thing I really wanted at this point. “ You have him all to yourself, why are you acting this way when you got engaged to him? Does this mean you don't really think he is capable of falling in love with you? Or you just think you pale compared to others he has been with?” “ You know that isn't true” “ Then don't come close to me with anything that has to do with Josh because I don't like him, I have better things to do and besides…” “She is in love with me” Darren screamed from the end of the hall. “She has my jacket, isn't that enough reason for you to see that she doesn't have an interest in him?”Josh's POV I was unable to take in the cookie I had in-between my finger immediately I heard the word Darren had just said. What exactly does he mean by Lina was in love with him? Or had interest in him?Has he even taken a proper look at himself in the mirror to consider if he was her type first of all? “Let me have that” Max slipped the cookie off his finger, throwing it in-between his lips before he closed his eyes shut, savouring how sweet and perfect it tasted. “That is good, your mum right? I have missed her cooking” My mother was hell of a cook but that wasn't what I was here for, what I was here for was the sudden interference of Darren, why exactly does he think he can just step in here, say words like that and be left alone? Eyes were already on me and Max, because everyone knew what exactly happened whenever anyone professed their love for Lina, we made sure whoever it was immediately detoxified such feelings or so called love for her. We had always been doing that, a
Lina's POVI sauntered down the stairs, humming a song when my eyes twitched at the crowd pulled close to my locker, cheering and chanting. My feet halted as I glanced up, my eyes melting into his when our gaze locked, warmth pooled underneath his, the gentle thud of my heart against my rib cage as it pounded had me running a hand over my chest. He tore his gaze off, peering at whoever he was standing with, I was lost in my thoughts when a hand hook itself around me, pulling me with her. “ Are you just going to stand here? Aren't you going to watch the biggest proposal of all history?” Emma, my best friend asked. She pulled me alongside her, dragging me feets ahead as I watched. Josh stood, eyes on Emily, the cheerleader as she handed him a paper, before chewing on her lips nervously, while twirling a strand of her hair. My eyes watered as I took in what was happening, Josh was my brother's best friend and my secret crush, but I couldn't bring myself to tell him about it. He ha
Josh's POV The words were out before I could force them back, it had been out of rage, and fear, the fear that had stemmed from whoever that man was. None of her admirers had stood up to me in the way that he had, not one of them had even had the nerves to look me in the eyes, until he came along. Her eyes contorted into a scowl as she flipped her head to the side. “ You don't mean that,” she said.“ I do” I confirmed with every ounce in me. “ I mean it, I will give you the experience you need, I am ready to let you know what it feels and…”My heart shredded into pieces at the next word she uttered, disgust roaming through them. “ I don't even like you” “ Lina” I groaned at her when she attempted to walk away. “ Lina” I drawled, my voice reverberating across the field. “You said you wanted to know what it felt like, to be in a relationship, I am ready to help you, as long as you don't go out with Darren” Her hands clenched her back before she spun around, eyes gazing into mi
Lina's POVThat this could be the worst mistake I would be making had occurred to me a dozen times, but I pushed it off. I was certain that I was going to make him come to love me, a two third part of me was certain that he loved me, just like I did. Pushing myself off the bed, I went through the daily ritual of taking my bath before slipping into my skirt that hung just above my knees and a white shirt over a blazer. I hummed alongside a song that had drifted into my mind before I picked up my Gucci bag, strolling down. My feet came to a stop before my parents who seemed to be munching on breakfast and breakfast seemed to be a whole lot. “ Mother, father” I kissed them on their cheek, pushing off the startled looks they both had on their faces off my mind. “ What?” I lifted my shoulders, while slipping a shortbread in-between my lips, the soft delicious biscuit melted in my mouth. They exchanged glances before my father placed the day’s paper on the table. “ Was I dreaming or
Josh's POV It was those eyes, her hazel orbs that pierced through me as she whispered my name with so much pain, that had started all of these, these feelings that wouldn't just fade. My hands wrapped firmly around her, the surrounding fading out for a bit before she shook my hands off, standing upright on her feet. “ Father, what are you saying?” I asked, hoping with everything in me that he hadn't meant what he had just said. He had promised me that I was going to choose my Luna, and that was after I had mentioned how much I loved the relationship he had with mother. This was clearly contradicting that. He let out a sigh, a hand on my shoulders, before he said. “ Come with me, let's talk” I gave Max a wry smile, one that didn't get to my lips before storming off. The door shut behind us when I stepped in, waiting for what would be his excuse. “ Josh, you have to understand that I didn't have much say in this, I heard Emily likes you and…”“ And what?” I was intercepted. “
Josh's POVEmily's eyes travelled between I and Lina, her eyes dimming in on us before she tore her gaze away. “What are you both doing here?’’ Lina took a step back, attempting to walk away when my hands wrapped themselves around hers, jerking her toward me. “Josh!” Emily called out, barely taking a gasp as she questioned. “ Is this what is it? Does Max know? What you are doing?’’“What do you think we are doing? You found us talking, that's all”Her hands went underneath her boobs in a fold before her words rolled out of her lips. “Weren’t you talking about getting rid of the proposal, which you know well enough that you won't be able to? I won't let you to anyways, and you have no other choice than to go along with it”Lina heaved behind me, before rasping out. “I'm leaving, I have to find Max, my parents will be worried, congratulations Emily, Josh loves you a lot” she whispered before walking away. My hands clasped together, watching her footsteps, each short and angered. “We
Lina’s POVI should have been ready for it, but the announcement had come so quickly that I wasn't expecting it. I didn't know what to do nor make a move but I stayed, watching every single thing. I wasn't going to lie but I hated it, hated the fact that Josh's eyes had remained on me while he stood on the podium getting engaged to someone who wasn't supposed to be his wife. Maybe, I had been thinking too much or I must have expected too much of myself, what do I have that Emily didn't? She was always going to be the perfect match for him, the one who he had always wanted, to him, I will always remain the little one who kept straddling in whatever function he was in, the one who was always going to make a mess of herself, the one he always had to look out for so she wouldn't make things worse than they already were. “I will leave first” I mustered up a smile on my face, sauntering out of the hall while Darren was fast on my heels, the music had resumed and the last I had seen was J
