(Annalise)

Lucas has staked his claim earlier and now, the different one, Landon, was here to claim me as well. From my reaction at the prom, shouldn't they understand I wasn't fucking interested in getting involved with their lives? I already had enough problems, finding a perfect donor and saving up money for my mother's surgery. And they think I still wanted to get involved in their tiresome lives? No, thank you.

I shook my head and faced him head on, even when my heart slammed violently against my ribcage, “Leave.” I whispered, never tearing my gaze away. With each second that passed by, I felt a chill running down my spine, coupled with standing outside during a cold night.

Perhaps he didn't hear me.

I inhaled a deep breath and repeated my words, “I don't know what you're talking about. You're interrupting my privacy.”

I had never seen him smile, Landon, not even while being entertained by a woman. He was like a cold ball of ice, a nonchalant asshole, but right now, his lips curled into a deadly smile, “privacy?” He sized me up, pointing at me with a ridiculous smile, “you think you need privacy?”

My jaw tightened.

I balled my hands into fists, “then leave if you're so irritated by my ridiculous presence. The issue of being your mate is none of my business.”

He smiled again, but it was more terrifying. He raised his fingers and pointed at his chest, “so you're telling me you feel nothing in there?” He hardened his gaze and I felt a whirlwind of emotions. My skin tingled with warmth as he kept his eyes on me, his majestic green eyes. Sucking in a breath, I lowered my gaze, “I feel nothing.”

“And do you think I care?”

I raised my brow, stunned by his revelation, “if you don't care, then leave my home. I have a whole lot to get to as you can see, I've got a sick mother and my grades to take care of.”

Landon tucked his hands in his pocket, “you're my mate, it's as clear as day. I'm going to claim you with your consent or not.”

“That's impossible!” I snapped, “I don't want to be Involved with you or your brothers!” They were terrifying beasts, I'd leave them for the girls. I tried to walk away, but he grabbed my wrist and yanked me backwards, “what's impossible? We're triplets, you are involved with us.”

“I don't want to be involved with a werewolf.” I whispered, staring at his hands tightly wrapped around mine. Why was his skin so fucking cold? I was freezing on the inside. He was good at making people uncomfortable, I could already feel the unease seeping into my skin. “I don't want to be involved with three werewolves.”

“There’s a first time for everything, dear Annalise.” He cooed, snaking his fingers around my waist. Being attracted to a beast was normal right? Because I couldn't stabilize my heartbeat or tame my emotions from going haywire. He shouldn't be touching me. There shouldn't be desire in his eyes. I'm Hollymore’s loser. Placing my palm on his chest, I tried to push him away, but he pulled me even closer and sealed my lips with his.

My eyes widened with shock.

My body went numb in his arms. I literally couldn't process a single word. While his lips moved above mine, I just stayed still, watching as he completely devoured my lips like they were meant to be his. He leaned closer and inserted his tongue, turning the kiss from a passionate one to a fierce one, his large palm holding my head in place.

His scent filled my nostrils, his different scent, and even as hard as I tried to hold on to my sanity, I could gradually feel it slipping away. Landon pulled away and planted a peck on my lips, “don't tell me you feel nothing, it's written all over your face.”

I couldn't deny his words.

It was so hard to push him away.

Landon's arms were still tightly wrapped around mine, his green eyes filled with lust and desire, like he couldn't wait to rip my evening gown into pieces. My legs almost lost their balance when he leaned closer again, “you're mine, Annalise. I'm giving you a chance to run. If I don't see you tomorrow, I will find you. And if I do, you're never leaving my side.”

He moved his hands from my waist, tucked his hands in his pocket and licked his lips, “c’mon, go in.”

My cheeks heated up as his words pulled me from my reverie. I gave him one last glance before proceeding to step into my apartment. With my fingers around the doorknob, his deep voice filled my ears again, “your mother's hospital bills have been footed, a donor shall be found immediately.”

I squinted my gaze, unable to believe what I was hearing. I just returned from the hospital and neither the doctor, nor Rosie told me anything like that.

“Do you mean—-” He disappeared before I could complete my statement and the next thing I saw was his car in motion.

LANDON’S POV“What was that?” I squinted my eyes at him, barely concealing my anger. Logan looked at me like I’d just asked the most ridiculous question ever. “What do you think? I just asked our mate to be my date to the end of year party. Got a problem with that?”“Guys, let’s not do this,” Annalise implored gently. Normally, I’d have listened to her. I didn’t want things to go more sour between us than they already were. But my brother was clearly doing everything he could to spite me. We were born like that—with a natural tendency for rivalry against each other. My mother said we’d been born with Logan holding firmly to my ankle on the way out of her womb. If I hadn’t come out first he’d have been first. So even before we were born, we’d been competing against each other. “Actually, I do have a problem with that, Logan,” I stated bluntly, my tone short and clipped. “Well, that really isn’t my business,” Logan answered dismissively. “So, Anna, love.. What’s it gonna be? Will y

LANDON’S POVI couldn’t concentrate the whole time. I stole occasional glances at Annalise who seemed to be oblivious to the turmoil she’d flung me into by walking away from me earlier. I’d shouldered the weight of my father’s message by myself the whole time. It’d always been like that. I was going to take over after my father and so it came with a pressure to always live by his books. But I’d been on a rebellious streak lately, at least for as long as we’d been away from home. It as my idea to leave home for the normal world, to go to high school with normal kids. I wanted to spite my father—and I succeeded. Now, he’d held me by the scruff of my neck, knowing I believed too much in my destiny to do otherwise. To become alpha king, I had to return home—with a mate. I sighed for the hundredth time, looking down at my wristwatch. Annalise was taking too long inside the classroom. Knowing her records, she was a straight ‘A’ student, and she never spent any more time than she had to

ANNALISE’S POVLandon never fully explained what the situation was with his father. He avoided the topic completely on most occasions and gave very offhanded explanations when he did attempt to answer my questions. But he couldn’t hide the worry eating away at his subconscious. I could see it whenever I looked at him, like a yellow speck in the middle of the beautiful green of his eyes. The exams dragged along to the final day and everyone was filled with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. I pressed my books on my chest and shut my eyes as I leaned backwards against the locker. “Hey, pretty face,” a voice interrupted me from up close, startling me in the process. “Logan?” I squinted my eyes in surprise. “Sorry. Did I scare you?” he smiled softly. “Did you? You’re the mind reading supernatural being here so why don’t you tell me,” I rolled my eyes. “You’ve grown quite the sharp tongue,” Logan commented with a playful smirk. We’d barely spoken a word to each other since the las

(ANNALISE’S POV)I gulped nervously my throat drying up rapidly. Hard as I tried to answer the teacher who’d begun approaching my desk, I just couldn’t get my tongue to work. While I was still thinking, I heard the sound of an object hit the floor by foot. A pen—Landon’s pen. He nodded at me reassuringly and turned to face the approaching teacher. “She was saying that I’d dropped my pen, sir,” Landon offered. “What?” the teacher frowned in a mix of confusion and disbelief. “I dropped my pen and she pointed it out to me. That’s what hat happened, isn’t it, Annalise?” Landon asked, rising from his seat to pick the pen. “Umm.. yeah. That’s what I was trying to say,” I stuttered nervously. The teacher squints his eyes at us skeptically, his eyes assessing us with utmost scrutiny before he pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. “Be more quiet about that in the future, Annalise, and Mr. Wayne do well to hold on to your writing materials in my hall. I hope I’ve made myself

(ANNALISE’S POV)The air was still and quiet for a moment that stretched for an eternity. Logan’s eyes were squinting shut in rage, while Lucas held on a confused expression. Landon looked calm—too calm for the situation I’d just thrown him into. It felt like looking at a three way monitor showing the same person with the red different facial expressions. I felt a wave of goosebumps sprout along my forearm. Landon let out a sigh and turned to face me. “You shouldn’t have said that, Anna?”Logan didn’t seem to take his fist statement in to heat of the tendon so well. “What do you mean she shouldn’t have said that? What’s your problem? Why do you always feel special like you’re better than the both of us?”“Logan, we don’t have to do this here. Not in front of her,” Lucas leaned into his brother, trying to keep his voice down towards the last statement. “But I haven’t said anything wrong no ow, have I?” Logan cut in. Lucas slowly turned to face Landon and I. “Well if you haven’t mar

LANDON’S POVI snow very wide once I spotted her walking out of the house. My eyes instinctively traveled to the window I’d only climbed out of moments ago. She rolled her eyes as she waited while a taxi shuttled down the street at the pace of a constipated sloth. I jumped out of the car and went round to the passenger side of the car to hold the door open for her. “You changed your mind, huh?” I teased. “My mum saw you, Landon. And I have a feeling she didn’t do that by accident. How else could she have missed the flashy teal colored sports car parked across the street,” she answered with heavy sarcasm. I shut the door and climbed back into the car after her. “Did she now? I thought she’d have known me already from our previous encounters.”“What previous encounters, Landon Wayne?” she queried, an eyebrow shut up in skepticism. “I may have left her a card or two back at the hospital,” I smiled sheepishly as I turned the keys in the ignition. Annalise looked at me like I’d ju
