Chapter 3

Selene p.o.v

[Broken pieces] 

I followed him to his suite and my eyes kept scanning the room for the surprise. “Babe, where is the surprise you got me, I'm tired of waiting” I said grabbing his arm. 

The room was neat and clean. There was a kitchen and a balcony nearby. I couldn't help but admire the room. 

Jace turned to me, smiling weirdly at me. Then he whispered. “Well, the surprise is….you. Now get on the bed.” I laughed, brushing him off. 

“I know you missed me but I didn't know you missed me that much” I said grinning, lighting the tension. Jace clenched and unclenched his fist. He pressed his eyes shut and sighed heavily. He looked at me, studying me. Then stepped away a little, carefully counting his step. He faced palm himself then he moved towards me. Kneeling to my size, he cupped my face and kissed my forehead. “Are you hiding anything from me?”

“You know you can tell me anything,” he said sweetly. His voice was warm, brushing his lips on my cheeks playfully. My heart did a thud. At that moment I felt like telling him the truth but I was too scared. I didn't want to lose him, I thought. My head tilted down and I held his hand. “Calm down babe, I promise I've been a good girl during summer break” I replied, raising my hands up dramatically. I earned a chuckle from him and my heart warmed. “Okay, okay I believe you now but I'm really serious about what I said.”

“I can't wait anymore.” He muttered, his voice lower and his smile replaced with a dangerous grin. 

“I thought we agreed to wait till we're married. What changed now?” I asked. “Why have you been acting strange?” I asked again looking into his eyes, finally admitting my worries.

“I don't want to wait anymore  and I want to do it now!” He muttered. He moved towards me and started kissing me roughly. His hands move to my boobs pressing them hard. I couldn't breath, I tried voicing out but my mind was failing me. I didn't feel any sense of security and Jace didn't seem himself. “P–ple..ase stop I'm not in the mood for this” I finally said, finding my voice. 

“Why?” he asked. “You don't like my touch?’ He spat angrily, already raising his voice. 

“No, that's not what I mean. I'm not ready yet a-and everything is moving quickly” I said, trying to sound calm. I chewed on my cheeks and played with my hands to show my resolve. I was getting scared each second that passed.

He smiled darkly at me and stepped back. looking at me like he was trying to figure out something. Then he grabbed my hand vigorously. “Enough of the act, you don't want me to check huh!” He yelled at me. I flinched and my body froze. My breath caught on my throat and I blinked. “What the yell are you talk about”

“Don't raise your voice at me.”

For goodness sake, what is your problem?"I yelled back. I look at him straight in the eyes and I exhale loudly to calm myself. 

“If you're not hiding anything then let me check! Let me check that pu$$y you gave out for free”

“Tell me how much did they paid you”

“You're so cheap,”he whispered.

“Jace Maclerin" I roared, slapping him hard on his face. “you really think I'm cheating on you?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper. My eyes brimmed red and my throat felt dry. I was choking on my breath and I could feel my heart breaking into pieces. “Why are you doing this?” I cried, hugging myself.

Jace held his face stunned. His veins pop out and his fist clenched. His eyes darkened and darted towards me and I immediately felt regret. He took his phone out then pressed a few things before showing it to me. All the blood drained from my face as I saw a picture of me and a guy kissing. “I-I…is not what you think.”

“How did you get that picture?” I stammered uncontrollably, voice strained. “It happened so fast and, and…”

“Just drop the act,” he scoffed. “I'm done with your bullshit”.

“Listen to me, I didn't mean for it to happen”

“He tried kissing me and I slapped him”

“I know I lied but don't say stuff like that”

“I'm sorry for lying to you” I admitted, my lips trembling. Yes I went to a party three days ago and a guy from nowhere tried to kiss me but I slapped him. I decided not to tell Jace because he would get mad and I was guilty.

“So now you're telling me what you've been doing behind my back huh?. I've asked you where you've been but you seemed like you couldn't tell me because you were enjoying yourself with him” he muttered through gritted teeth. 

“This relationship means nothing to you right?”

“I-It does” I tried speaking but jace cut me off. 

“No, I don't want to hear any of your excuses. You like it when you get attention from those men right?.”

“I'm done Selene!" He yelled loudly. His voice was stern and his eyes held no emotion. He stared at me angrily and I could see his pain but it vanished to pure coldness. I just stared back at him, I couldn't breath properly. My knees suddenly felt weak and my mind went numb trying to process his last words. “Is he done with me?”. “He can't be serious right?” I asked myself. 

“I'm done with this relationship” he muttered. He walked past me, preparing to leave but I grabbed him in his arms. Tears filled my eyes. “Please don't do this.” I said to him with pleading eyes.

 “He's joking right?” I thought to myself. “If you don't believe me then you can check just like the way you wanted in the first place.” I barked at him. He didn't even look at him. He removed his hands from me like I was the most disgusting thing and I blinked away tears. “I don't plan on going there, it's already wide enough," he said coldly, his tone never shifting.

“You can't do this to me, Jace!” I yelled. “I'm sorry, okay?”

“I love you”

“You're hurting me jace…please” I sobbed loudly. “You can't do this to me, you can't do this” I cried, beating him on his chest with my small fist. 

 He turned and left, ignoring all my pleas, every step shattering my heart. He left me in his suite. No remorse, no care about how I feel. I didn't see the gentleness in his eyes anymore. The way he looked at me like I was dirt and wasn't his precious gem like he always told me. 

Suddenly my phone buzzed to life and I checked the caller ID. And it was saved as “MOM”, I tried declining it but I mistakenly accepted it. I came face to face with a scream. “Where are you? Have you forgotten we have dinner right now?” she demanded from the other end. 

“I can't mom, I don't want to attend” I mumbled slowly. “No way Selene, I want to see you in the next five minutes or I'm blocking your credit card!” she screamed, ending the call. “Oh god classic Italian mom,” I muttered.
