Alpha Makael slammed the pictures on the table. “How is this supposed to help me?!” He asked the masked man in front of him.
“Look closer alpha. Isn't that woman your former assistant?” The masked man asked. Alpha Makael frowned, picking the pictures back up. He looked at it with anger and lust for blood. “Abigail.” He whispered. “Exactly boss. Isn't it strange she and the new alpha who bought your company are so close.” He stepped forward. “Hmmn, investigate further.” He growled. ~~~ Abigail stirred in bed. Her brows furrowed as her eyes opened. Her arms reached to feel Ethan by her side, but he wasn't there. She yanked the duvet over and lazily walked to the living room. The whole place had been swept clean and the broken furniture replaced. She smiled , sending a thank you text to Ethan. he lazily took her bath and brushed her hair while thinking of Liam's audacity yesterday. Thinking back to when she met Liam, she couldn't believe how wild he'd grown. He was the only wolf who was kind to a hybrid like her. Abigail was an orphan, she was lucky to be put in one of the Frey's orphanages. More lucky because she got a scholarship sponsored by the Frey's. She and Liam had been friends since they were kids. Every year, the Frey's would host a Christmas party for them at the orphanage,it was during one of such that she met Liam. They ended up in the same school and grew acquainted. Liam was the sweetest kid back then. Now,he's like a monster. Her parents had died way long ago,she couldn't remember a single thing that happened or if she still had any relatives. All she knew was that her father was a disgraced omega and her mother was a human. She was basically an abomination. She wondered what really went wrong between Liam and Ethan that drove a thick wedge between them. Whatever it was,it was better not to find out and open old wounds. Since it was the weekend, she decided to go shopping for groceries down the street. Dressed in her oversized hoodie and pants, she strolled down to the mall. She walked into the mall and headed to the grocery section. The scene she met twisted something in the pit of her stomach. An assistant was on her knees, pleading with a luxuriously dressed woman. Abigail sighed, she'd seen the scene too many times. The assistant was a hybrid, like all the other assistants. Hybrids were always discriminated against and made to do only the menial jobs. Abigail herself only got to be the CEOs assistant because her education was sponsored by the most powerful wolf family. The Freys. She shifted her gaze and went ahead to pick necessary things for cooking. When she was done, she walked over to the counter to pay. The assistant there was nice and had a warm smile on her face. “Pft! How can a hybrid like you afford something so expensive.” The luxuriously dressed woman she'd ignored the other time suddenly appeared. Abigail didn't even bother looking, she just handed the assistant her card. The assistant took the card with trembling fingers. He quickly finalized the payment and returned the card. Abigail walked out of the mall without sparing the woman a single look. It was best to avoid trouble. ~~~ Frey Mansion ~~~ The maids kept their disgust hidden as a disheveled Liam walked into the compound. His shirt was torn. His face, covered with bruises and cuts. He smelled of alcohol. He staggered into the mansion, just in time to meet Pa Frey walk into the living room. “You…” the old alpha started. “Where have you been?” He asked. Liam raised his head, his eyes still drunk.“That is a question you should ask your son.” The listening servants gasped,no one ever dared to talk to the old alpha like that. “What happened?” Pa Frey asked, containing his anger. “What happened? Your son stole my woman from me and he imprinted on her!” Liam shouted. He staggered forward. “I…I was going to marry her. Have cute little cubs with her! But my father stole her from me.” The old alpha wasn't really aware or interested in Liam's love life,he always viewed him as a broken wolf. A lost cub. A lost cause. But,if what Liam was saying was actually true,it could tear the Frey family apart. Liam fell to his knees. “He stole my Abigail from me.” He wept. Pa Frey sighed,it seemed Liam was obsessed with this wolf, whoever she was. “What pack is she from?” He asked, his brows knitting. Liam kept his head low, hesitant to speak.Pa Frey's frown deepened.
“What pack is she from?” He asked again, but Liam didn't answer,he just kept his head low and walked away. “Leonard!” Pa Frey called the butler's name angrily. The old lad ran to his master's side as fast as he could. “Get me every information about this…Abigail.” He ordered. The butler quickly nodded“Yes sir,I'll do that at once.”
Pa Frey's frown didn't waver,he wouldn't allow all he built for years to sink overnight. “And call Ethan back home.” He added. The butler quickly left to perform the assigned task,he didn't want to anger the old alpha. Unknown to them,Clara had been listening all along. When she heard the news that Ethan was with someone, she got angry and scared. She couldn't allow her well built empire in the Frey mansion as the house mistress to go to waste. She couldn't let Ethan marry someone,no matter the cost. She quickly went into her room and dialed a number. “Hello,I need you to help me investigate someone.” She said.Ethan took Abigail's hand.“I really want to show you in every way that you're my choice,” he said. “So, I'll stay with you tonight.”“And tomorrow?” She asked, teasingly. “Every other night…till forever.”It felt good hearing that. Ethan figured he would deal with Bianca's problem by morning of the next day. He was so sure that she wasn't pregnant and after the test result had confirmed that, his would send her away, a mistake he wouldn't make again. He pulled her to himself, just to taste the sweetness of her lips. “I've missed doing this,” he confessed. “I've missed your laughs. You have no idea.”Abigail slapped his chest with mock annoyance. “You left me all alone.”He wrapped her with his arms. “I'm sorry, my pigeon.”“Pigeon.”“‘cause you're cute and smallish.”Abigail smiled. “It was you, wasn't it? The person who did my job.”“Stayed all night for you.”Her smile widened. Then she raised her head. “Oh my gosh! It was you. You sent me that money.”Ethan didn't affirm but hi
Bianca's heart had been racing erratically ever since Ethan requested for a proof of pregnancy, and worse, Alex, his over keen assistant was right there with her to ensure she didn't doctor the result. She sat there, hoping for an escape. If Ethan found out that her pregnancy claim was a lie, he would be mad at her deception and lock her out. She played with her fingers nervously while Alex sat there, waiting for her to go in. He had received clear instructions from his boss to follow through the process. And seeing how nervous she was, he knew she was hiding something. But for the life of him, he would never understand why his boss had decided to go back to his ex wife. Alpha Ethan had been barely alive until he found Abigail. He had seen how much he changed and he didn't care about the age difference. And the past few days without her had been torturous for him.He could never understand Alpha Ethan.“Why are you here anyway?” Bianca barked at him. “Isn't Ethan coming?”She was des
Ethan held her hand and moved dangerously close to her. She felt his warm breath against her ears. It spoke of burning desires, a call that awakened hers. But Abigail wanted so badly to resist, yet, she wanted more badly to give in, to forget about everything even for the moment and fall into the arms of the man she was still obviously in love with. “Why are you doing this to me —to us?” Ethan's voice, laced with deep desire, croaked into her ear.She shut her eyes and held her breath. With him so close, it was difficult to decide, to remain angry, or to say no.She moaned with need. Even her body couldn't deny that she missed him, and more than ever, she wanted him, yet there and now.Ethan took cue from her moan and found her lips. They crashed into each other, each touch, a reminder of the passion they ignited in one another and a testament that they were meant for each other. Abigail didn't remember Bianca and her pregnancy and Ethan didn't think of Daven and what relationship h
It was too late for regrets, Abigail knew that. So she didn't apologise. She glared at him like how she wished she could glare at every wolf who had called her a hybrid or looked down on her. He was bearing the brunt because he couldn't mind his business.Despite the gravity of her words and the way it made him feel initially, Daven realised he wasn't really mad. It soothed him, strangely.Wasn't it the truth?Besides, he had never had never had anyone speak to him that way. Even abroad, the ladies always kept their thoughts to themselves because of what they could gain from him. And back here, he was the Alpha's son.“You insulted me first,” Abigail declared. “Do you not realise it? You don't respect my decision because I am a hybrid.”Daven nodded. She was right. He had overstepped. He started the car and took the opposite lane, returning back to the office. Abigail didn't want this ride home. She didn't want to be in the space of someone who constantly ridiculed her existence. Wa
It was a relief to Abigail. For one, she had thought she had been set up. And she really needed a new card after Daven rudely broke hers. She was actually on her last cent and she knew how excruciatingly difficult it was to get a card at the bank.Well, unless your blood screamed pure wolf. She could afford to frown now.“You made me beg for nothing.”It was infuriating being around someone who enjoyed making fun of others. But for now, Abigail kept her cool. She needed him to help her sort her card issues. After then, she would tell him to stay the hell away from her. She wasn't a hybrid that needed some pure wolf’s shadow to navigate her way around. She had been doing just fine before every one of them.Daven chuckled and led the way. “I didn't know you had a tear in you,” he said as he turned towards the bank. He owed Abigail a new card. But that was now really the reason he had decided to help her. Truth was, he couldn't stop thinking about her and desiring to hold her. And his
Daven held the steering, feeling proud. He had the woman he wanted, seated beside him. And even though her face was moulded into a scowl, a win was a win.Abigail sat quietly, wondering where Daven was taking her to. The day was bright and a public place was a huge no. She didn't want to be in another scandal. Mia had told her straight. She would abandon her. She couldn't even survive another scandal, being looked at as she walked the street and hated by even the unloved - the hybrids. She faced Daven. “Lunch break is thirty minutes,” she reminded him. He probably had never worked, she thought. And had no regard for time. “Where are you taking me to?”Daven flashed a smile that grated on her nerves. “Chill. Will ya? And don't worry, it's my company. No one can sack you.”“It's not yours if you're not CEO,” she shot quietly. She understood boys like Daven. Always having things done for them their whole life and even too lazy right now as a grown adult to reason with their brains. The
