Chapter 015

Alpha Kael was beyond livid when he heard that his precious wolf daughter, Ariana, had been locked up by Alpha Ethan, in a dungeon.

Sure, Ariana could blow up any building she wanted to, if she was mad. It was their fault that she was upset. 

And worse, they locked her up in a dirty, cold, stinking cell.

But the moment he stepped into the presence of Pa Frey, he ticked his tail behind his legs. He knew Pa Frey was influential and was literally the head of the pack even if Ethan was Alpha. But he also knew that making a wrong move would make an enemy of the patriarch. 

That was the last thing he wanted.

So, he suppressed the injustice and anger he felt and greeted Pa Frey respectfully. Pa Frey, unaware of what had happened, smiled and set a table for him.

“No,” he told Alpha Kael. “We have to discuss over a banquet. After all, my grandson had marked your daughter already.”

Alpha Kael but down on his anger and watched as the table was set. He sat opposite Pa Frey, too vexed to eat anything. But the old man urged him on.

“How can I eat when my daughter is locked like a common thief in one of your dungeons.”

The expression on the old man's face told Alpha Kael that he had no idea. So, he softened up.

“Alpha Ethan had her locked there,” he continued.

Pa Frey dropped his cutlery and stared at the Alpha, dead face..

“What do you mean?” He asked. “Ariana spent the night with Liam.”

Alpha Kael shook his head. “If you'll follow me to the dungeon, you'll see what I say is true.”

Pa Frey slapped the table angry and stood up. “How can he do that? Doesn't he know Ariana is mated to his son?”

Alpha Kael figured it was best to skip the part where she exploded a building. It was his building so it didn't matter.

“She was only trying to put that hybrid in her place seeing she keeps chasing after Liam.”

That was enough to stir Pa Frey into action. Of course, he knew his son would lose his senses with anything having to do with that hybrid. But he had set things in place. His empire could not crumble. Not while he was alive. 

So, while Bianca tamed him, Ariana was going to make sure Liam stopped embarrassing him. The video of him kissing a hybrid had been enough blow to their empire.

It was an insult.

One he was ready to put to an end.

“I'll handle it,” he told Alpha Kael. He beckoned for Leonard. “I want you to instruct for the immediate release of Ariana from the dungeon. I'll be waiting here for her to appear before me and she must be well groomed and pleased.”

Leonard bowed and exited the room. The war between the men in the pack was beginning to wear on him. Obeying Pa Frey’s instructions was going to attract a punishment from Ethan. And disobeying was going to have his head. 

So, he hastened to the dungeon, searching for the room where the Alpha's daughter had been locked. 

“Pa Frey wants her released,” he told the prison guard. “And he's waiting for her.”

The guard frowned. But that was all he could do. He gave way for Leonard, and soon, he was standing in front of her cell.

Ariana scoffed when she heard the jingling of keys.

“You should have kept me here for one more minute! I'm the Alpha's daughter and I'm mated to the hit of this pack. I can't believe this.”

Leonard, always shying away from trouble, bowed his head. “I apologise, Lady Ariana. The Patriarch and your father are waiting for you.”

He hissed. “And Liam?”

He hadn't even bothered to check up on her or have her released. And she had spent a night in a cold dungeon all because the Alpha was in love with a hybrid.

“A hybrid!” She spat as if the word was an abomination. “A hybrid is driving father and son crazy. I'm insulted.”

Leonard led her out of the cell. She was heading to the main house when he stopped her. 

“Pa Frey wants you refreshened before you appear before him.”

She flung her hair at him, dismissing him. Liam wasn't in his room when she got there, and for the sake of the lowlife hybrid, she hoped he wasn't in her dingy apartment. If not, she was going to do worse the next time she laid her eyes on her.

All this time, she had endured while Liam dated the hybrid secretly. Her crush for Liam was never a secret affair. But the hybrid was always in the way. Things were different now. She had a mark on her next, scarred by Liam. He belonged to her now and she would make sure Abigail takes her last breath the next time she sees her with her mate.

She pulled off the clothes she had worn since the explosion, angry that Abigail had survived it. Even more angry that Liam had gone into the building to rescue her and Alpha Ethan had locked her up.

For a mere hybrid.

Her friends would laugh at her now. But she had Pa Frey on her side. And she was going to use every weapon in that arsenal. Her meeting with Pa Frey was going to come with a condition. After all, she wasn't the only one going to benefit from the union. She loved Liam but Pa Frey needed her to stop the rumours about his grandson secretly dating a hybrid and to put him in check.

Now, she was in charge. She rinsed her hair over the bathroom shower. Her hand fell to her neck where the mark was and the thought of that night made her heart throb. It was a secret she couldn't whisper, one she couldn't even let herself think about. But she knew one thing. She had done everything to make Liam hers.
