The intensity of Lucas's voice never ceased to give Ryleigh goosebumps. If Abby did not intervene and stop her, her knees would likely buckle and she would fall at any time. Luke then simply walked away, but Rye knew that once Abby was gone, she would have to face whatever he had planned for her.

The following day, Lucas left his residence early to accompany Hannah to the airport. Abby will also go at 5:30, as her departure is at 8:30 and she must arrive at the airport two hours in advance.

"Don't let Luke treat you like you're a scrap. He is your husband, even if it's just on paper. You maintain the right. And if your mother finds out about everything, I'm certain she will force you to divorce Luke," Abby remarked as she applied foundation to her face.

Rye expelled a heavy sigh. "I am aware that we still have a chance. Don't fret. Luke won't harm me. He may be impolite to me, but he never—"
