Chapter 1

The bright light of the sun shone brightly welcoming the start of a new day. I watched from my window, my father and his pack training out in the town's main training field. It is so peaceful here in the hills. My long time childhood friend looked up at me and acknowledged me with a stiff nod. I gave him an army salute and both of our faces broke out into a warm smile. My father barked at him to pay attention and just like that, I was no one again. I heaved a sigh and walked away from the window.

"Madam, would you like me to take your order for breakfast?" Jasmine said from behind at my room door way acting like my maid.

"Wow, you would make a perfect maid," I teased turning around to go into my bathroom.

"Noooo!" She scoffed dramatically.

"Well, as they say, practice makes perfect." I said turning on the warm shower as I entered the bathroom and closed the door.

"I am never becoming a maid, so there is no need for your supposed compliment" she said casually, no doubt that she felt insulted.

"Who said it was a compliment?" I asked not stopping the mischievous smile that made its way on my face. I love troubling my chubby faced cousin. It is so tempting to get under her skin. She easily gets fiery-tempered.

"Oh, don't get all smartass with me" she threatened.

"And what is Miss Future-Maid going to do about it?" I argued stepping out of the shower after bathing and wrapping a towel around me.

"Aren't you bathing with no clothing right now?" She quizzed mischievously.

"Isn't it too early for you to be taking pictures of your family? Don't you know that will only bring shame upon the family which includes you, may I add?" I responded coming out of the bathroom in a floral two piece yellow dress.

"Madam, your family wanted me to tell you that family dinner is tonight and they'll be having guests as well" Hakeem, the family butler said as I slipped on my shoes.

"Sure thing Hakeem." I saluted. Why am I in the saluting mood today?

He gave me a glimpse of a smile on his hard features and walked out.

"Sooo," Jasmine drawled grabbing my attention.

"What is it?" I sighed brushing my hair from in my face as I looked up at her on my bed from finishing to put on my shoes.

"I heard the Alpha and his family of Black Diamonds Pack will be having dinner with you guys tonight," she said slowly trying to measure up my expression.

"Sooo?" I gave her a skeptical look.

"C'mon Lovely, we all know you don't like the Black Diamonds Pack. Why do you hate them so much?" She looked at me with pity.

"First things first, I don't hate the Black Diamonds Pack. Don't tell any lies on me." I said defensively.

"Or is it jealously?" She gave me her you-are-jealous look.

"No," I said feeling a little angry. "They are salvage killers. They killed innocent children and they rip the child from their mother's womb."

"Don't get so hot Miss Thunderstorm, but in case you forgot, they saved your father's life as well as this pack." She snapped.

"Oh please Jasmine. May I remind you that they are the reason why our Alpha was kidnapped and our pack attacked at its weak point." I folded my arms angrily.

"How can you blame them? They didn't know that their third in command was doing that to our pack." She exclaimed.

"Or did they just don't care because it wasn't their pack being affected?" I retorted.

"They are friends Lovely. Why would they do that?" She said outraged at my smart response.

"Not all friends are trustworthy." I breathed grabbing my bag and walking down the stairs.

"Where are we going?" She asked eagerly.

"School. Where else?" I muttered.

"God Lovely! You are so boring," she exclaimed. I chuckled at her dramatization.

"We are not skipping school again Jas." I replied. My family is really bipolar. One minute we are arguing and the next we act back to normal like nothing happened.

"C'mon Lovely, wasn't it fun?" She drawled.

"Yes Jas, but it ain't happening. Now get in the car." I replied shaking my head.

"I am going to get myself my own car and drive where ever I want to go," she said grumpy.

"I would have believed that if you weren't so lazy," I said playfully reversing out of the garage.

She gave me a glare, but said nothing. I couldn't help but snicker at her expression. She was way too funny.
