Chapter 56

Layla POV

I came out of the restaurant and walked straight into my cab. The audacity Ethan had to talk down at me perplexed me.

“Take me to this address,” I told the cab man, pointing a paper to him. I needed to see my friend Annabeth.

I prayed within me that she would forgive me as I dozed off.

“We are here, madam,” the driver said. He was waking me from my sleep.

“Thank you,” I said as I alighted from the cab. I looked at the house and hesitated for a while.

I finally summoned courage and walked towards the door. I knocked as I held my breath.

The door opened, and a beautiful young girl looked at me and said, “ Aunty Layla?”

“Cho?” I asked

“Yes, it’s me, Aunty Layla,” she said as she burst into tears.

I also burst into tears and heard a voice say, “Layla?”

“Annabeth,” I said amidst tears, and I couldn’t help but jump at her.

“I missed you so much,” I said to her

“I miss you too,” Annabeth said

“I’m so sorry; I didn’t mean to leave you alone without any explanation,”
