Chapter 1 Unexpected Encounter with Celebrities

As I exited my vegetable greenhouse as usual, I suddenly found myself face-to-face with a group of people. Specifically, it was a woman accompanied by several crew members with filming equipment.

"Excuse me, could I hide in your greenhouse for a while? We're shooting a show and I'm the only one left on my team. I am the team's last hope!" the woman stated without waiting for my permission and attempted to enter the greenhouse while crouching.

I immediately seized her and pulled her back. "I'm sorry, but you cannot enter. The vegetable seeds inside are extremely valuable."

After I locked the gate, a hint of annoyance appeared in that woman's eyes, yet she didn't lose her composure.

"Ma’am, I implore you to allow me inside! If I fail this mission, there won't be any ingredients for making tonight's dinner."

I had been informed earlier that a production crew would be filming a variety show around. However, I didn't pay much attention to this notice, and I certainly didn't expect them to show up at my place.

"If you need a hiding spot, you can come to my house, but not the vegetable greenhouse!"

I believed my stance was already quite firm, but this woman placed her hand beside her face and put on a cute expression.

"Ma’am, please let me enter the greenhouse. If I stay at your house, I'll surely be discovered by other teams. You must know who I am, right? Once the mission is completed, I can endorse your vegetables!"

To be honest, she would be better off finding another hiding spot with all this time she was spending persuading me!

However, before I could decline, two men suddenly appeared.

They hurled sandbags filled with colored powder at the woman, and the crew swiftly declared her mission a failure.

I wasn't interested in their antics and was about to walk away when the woman blocked my path.

"Ma’am, why didn't you let me hide inside for a while?"

Unwilling to entertain her any longer, I directly pushed her aside and prepared to leave. However, she persisted, grabbing onto my arm and refusing to let go.

"Wait, Ma’am, I'm Anita Sinclair! I've been quite popular on TV shows lately. Didn't you recognize me earlier?"

I couldn't comprehend why she was still holding on to me despite her failed mission. What was the purpose of it all?

"I don't know you, please let go!" I firmly reiterated, pulling my arm away from her grasp.

After a short rest at home, I headed back to the vegetable greenhouse to thoroughly inspect all the plants once more.

To my astonishment, upon reaching my house late at night, I discovered a large number of people present, with Anita leading the group.

"How did you manage to get inside? Leave immediately! This is my private residence."

My home was located far from town, almost bordering the desert. The people in this area were simple and honest, and we rarely locked our doors.

Moreover, most of the items in my house were cultivation containers used for growing salt-alkali vegetables.

Thieves seldom ventured here, let alone burglars breaking in.

As soon as I stepped inside the house, I witnessed the group of people curiously handling the soilless cultivated vegetables in my yard. Some even plucked them out, intending to cook them.

I hurried over and snatched the vegetables away, only to discover that their roots had already been damaged.

"How dare you lay your hands on my belongings! Get out!" I was visibly agitated by their audacity.

Anita approached, putting on a fake, endearing expression and pleaded with me.

"Ma’am, please don't be angry. We will compensate you for the money spent on these vegetables once we finish filming the show. You caused me to fail my task earlier, and we didn't have any food for tonight, so that's why we came to your place."

Even as she spoke, a camera trailed me, capturing the entire interaction.

Infuriated, I quickly shielded the camera from view.

"“Stopping panning your camera at me! I warn you to leave immediately."

As I attempted to usher them out, the instruments in my research lab suddenly started alarming.

Startled, I rushed into the lab, only to find two celebrities playing around with my research equipment.

"What on earth are you doing? Get out of my way!"

I pushed them aside and hastily restored the data within. It was then that Anita approached me again.

"I apologize, Ma’am. I had no idea your house had such advanced equipment. We didn't mean any harm. I mistook it for some kind of steaming sauna apparatus and was simply curious."

Was this person lacking common sense? How could she mistake this large incubator for a steaming sauna apparatus?

However, I didn't have the luxury of time to address her at that moment. The contents of the incubator were crucial to several graduate students' theses.

Seeing that I continued to ignore her, Anita turned around and burst into tears.

"Why are you being so harsh, Ma’am? We've already apologized. What more do you want? If you want money, just say it openly. Your attitude really baffles me!"

Two other male celebrities, who were presumably on the same team as her, joined in, blaming me as well.

"Ma’am, you're being unreasonable. Anita didn't mean any harm, and it's just a temperature control device. We can compensate you with a new one."

But before these celebrities could fully express their anger, the sound of police sirens rang out from outside.

By this time, their filming equipment had already been switched off.

The incubator in my house was connected to the local police equipment, triggering an immediate response from the authorities.

Soon, the police arrived and swiftly escorted the group of people out.

The leading officer apologized to me and assured me that they would ensure such disturbances wouldn't happen again.

However, to my surprise, I encountered this variety show's members the very next day.

"Ma’am, we sincerely apologize. We were actually live streaming the entire time last night, and the viewers may have misunderstood your actions towards me, causing them to become so agitated... In order to clarify the misunderstanding, we would like to invite you to participate in the show together!" Anita stated.

I scoffed at their audacity. The crew never mentioned anything about live streaming from the beginning and simply captured everything happening here.

I wasn't an avid internet user, and had it not been for my friends informing me, I wouldn't have been aware of the online backlash. Apparently, netizens had labeled me as a "drama queen."

As I looked at Anita's insincere expression, I couldn't help but sneer.

"Sure, perhaps this way my vegetables will sell even better!" I agreed to her invitation.
