Alina's POV

I moved uncomfortably on the chair. The wood felt harder on my body than it should have felt.

The court was full, fuller than it should have been. People I did not even know existed had all come, sitting down, watching. The news shouldn't have spread, but it did, and now everyone knows Aria Vale is having a court case, and everyone wants to witness what drama the whole Vale family is involved in.

Alina's POVI moved uncomfortably on the chair. The wood felt harder on my body than it should have felt. The court was full, fuller than it should have been. People I did not even know existed had all come, sitting down, watching. The news shouldn't have spread, but it did, and now everyone knows Aria Vale is having a court case, and everyone wants to witness what drama the whole Vale family is involved in.Of course, Edrick tried his best to limit the crowd and make sure many people were not allowed in, but then he could only do so much.Sitting beside him, I tried not to shake. I tried not to tremble, but I could feel my body go cold. Edrick's hand softly held mine, squeezing it time after time, reminding me to breathe. But it wasn't enough to comfort me.Sweat beads formed on my forehead. Still, I tried to look forward. People kept marching in, one after the other.I knew my mother would be here. And I knew which side of the court she would be sitting on. But seeing her walk in, m

  • Forced to Marry my Sister’s Fiancée    Court Case

Aria's POVI waited. For a sign, for hope. From the moment Mom left the station, all I did was wait. I paid no heed to the headaches planning to drive me nuts. Or the terrible hunger that churned my stomach. Or the cold biting my skin. All I focused on was my wait."Two days to your court hearing," Mom had said. Now, I was just hours away from it, and there was still no sign of hope. No sign of Mr. Vale.Hope seemed farther and farther with every passing second.I closed my eyes, wanting to pray, but heaven knows I had no idea who to pray to.I turned on the cold floors, playing with my fingers, hoping to distract my brain. But how can I be distracted when tomorrow I would be dragged to court? And worse? Sentenced. The headaches were coming back.No.I squinted my eyes."Nooo!"A knock on the cell doors snapped me out of the prism of pain."Mrs. Vale." I stood up.It was that same cop who takes me to see visitors.I stood to my feet and waited for her to open the door. Then quietly fo

  • Forced to Marry my Sister’s Fiancée    Not Welcome

Alina’s POVI sat at the table across from the study room window, where Jamie and Clover were taking their lessons. My fingers tapped slowly against the table as I watched them. They looked so happy in class, working on their maths.“No, no, Clover. It’s eight, not four,” Jamie said, helping Clover with her quiz.“Jamie, let her solve it herself,” the teacher said.Clover frowned.Clover never liked maths. And it was so sweet seeing Jamie trying to save her, even though he wasn’t supposed to. It was a test, after all.“Alina?”Hannah’s voice came from behind me, ruining the moment.I turned, my smile slowly fading.“Hannah?”“Good morning,” she said.“Morning.”“I’m heading to the office, and I thought… I don’t know, maybe you’d want to come check on some stuff.”I took a deep breath.“I’m still not ready to resume, Hannah,” I said, my eyes drifting back to Clover. The main reason I hadn’t gone back to work was because I wanted my daughter to heal. But now that she was better, I didn’

  • Forced to Marry my Sister’s Fiancée    Sneaky Bastard

Aria’s POVJamie. Jamie. My Jamie. It wasn't just the tears in his eyes or the fact that he was crying for his mother. It was the fact that I hadn't even thought about him all this while.I had been so focused on getting out, on the pain and betrayal from Alina and Edrick, that I hadn't thought about my own son.My own son. They made me forget my boy.I hate them for this.I'll get back to you, Jamie. I promise. His cries followed me as I was taken back to my cell. I forced myself not to look back, not even to peek, until I was back in the stinky hole they called a cell. The door locked behind me.My back hit the cold wall as I slowly lowered myself to the ground.Alina.You did this to me.You ruined my life.I didn't want to think about her anymore. The more I thought about her, the more I felt my heart being ripped apart. She's a monster. She's a monster. My head started throbbing. The cell room spun around me, and my vision began to blur.I didn't want the pain to come back. The p

Edrick’s POV“Mommy… Mommy. I want Mommy.”His eyes were closed. He was deep asleep, but he kept repeating the words, tossing and turning beneath the covers. His face was scrunched up tightly, as if he were trapped in some terrible dream.“Mommy!” he cried again, his little voice breaking. His eyes fluttered open.“It’s okay, Jamie. I’m here,” I said, wrapping my arms around him.“Mommy. I want to see Mommy,” he repeated. My heart stopped.“It’s okay, Jamie. I’m here for you,” I said again, trying to soothe him.He had been like this all night.Crying in his sleep.Calling for his mother.Aria, this is the life you chose for our son.I will never forgive you for this.I pulled Jamie closer, holding him tightly against my chest.“It’s okay, Jamie. I’m here. You can go back to sleep.”“No.”His little hands tightened around my arms.“Mommy,” he whispered again. His eyes finally began to close.I ran my fingers through his hair, stroking it gently.“It’s okay, Jamie. It’s okay,” I repeat

Anna’s POV“Well, well, well. Mr. Kislov has started growing some balls.” I said it as I stepped out of the room, pulling the door shut behind me.Adrian raised his eyes to meet mine.“You need to get out of here,” he said.“Why?” I asked, moving down the stairs. “Edrick is gone. He doesn’t know I’m here,” I explained.“Yes, but I don’t want to be caught in your sibling drama. Go fix whatever it is that’s wrong between the two of you.”I stared at him, my arms folding across my chest.“Adrian, thank you,” I said. His frown remained firmly in place.“Thank you for helping me. I had nowhere else to go.”“Hmm.” He nodded.“Just please let me stay a little longer. I won’t stay too long, I promise. I’ll go somewhere else.”“Why are you running, Anna?”He turned, his eyes meeting mine.I shrugged.“I’m not running.” I paused. “Um… it’s complicated.”My fingers flexed nervously.“And you can’t tell me?.”“You wouldn’t understand,” I said, turning away.I headed back toward the room, but st
