Eva was halfway through reviewing the three positions she had found for Sophie when her phone rang. She glanced at the screen and paused when she saw her mother's name.

For a moment, she simply stared at it because her mother rarely called without a reason, and whenever she did, that reason usually had something to do with Sophie or the family.

Even when she had called months ago, the conversation had quickly turned into another request concerning her sister.

She finally answered. "Hello, Mum."

  • Forced to Wear My Sister's Wedding Dress   What He Wouldn't Let Her Take

Dinner had wound down to its last quiet minutes when Beatrice set her glass down and looked around the table. “Damien will be here Thursday,” she announced, and before anyone could say much about it, she had already reached for her phone. Her thumb moved quickly across the screen as she began making a mental list of everything that needed to be arranged. “That gives me four days to sort out the guest rooms, the menu, and whatever his fiancée expects from a proper introduction. Victor glanced at her with a faint smile. “You've handled less time before.”“I've never had to prepare for a stranger walking into this house and expecting to be welcomed like family,” she replied, already pushing her chair back. “I need to speak with the staff, and I want the rooms checked tomorrow morning. I don't want everyone scrambling around when they get here.”Lucien leaned back in his chair with an amused expression. “You haven't even met the woman, and you're already planning her arrival.”“Someone h

  • Forced to Wear My Sister's Wedding Dress   It Wasn't A Perfect Reconciliation

By the time Friday evening arrived, Eva had changed her outfit twice, and she was beginning to wonder why she was treating dinner with her mother as though she were preparing for an important business meeting. She stood in front of the bedroom mirror, adjusting the earrings she had finally decided to wear, while the two dresses she had rejected lay across the bed behind her. There was nothing particularly complicated about the evening. But the thought of sitting across from her mother made her more nervous than she wanted to admit."You're changing again," Julian said from behind her.She glanced at him through the mirror. He had closed his laptop and was watching her from the edge of the bed. "I'm trying to decide what to wear.""For dinner?""Yes."He raised an eyebrow. "It's your mother, Eva. You're not going on a date with me," he said with amusement."That's exactly why I'm nervous," she admitted, turning away from the mirror. "If it were a date with you, at least I'd know what w

"Hello, Mum.""Eva."Her mother's voice sounded different from what she expected. She didn't sound upset."I hope I'm not disturbing you.""No. I'm busy, but I can talk."There was a brief pause before her mother spoke again."I wanted to thank you."She frowned slightly. "For what?""For helping Sophie."Eva looked down at the documents spread across her desk. "I haven't actually helped her yet. I only told her I would look into some positions.""I know. She told me."Her mother's voice carried a sincerity

  • Forced to Wear My Sister's Wedding Dress   A chance

Eva read Sophie's message again before answering, taking a moment to think about the request. She typed her response carefully."I can't really promise I'll have something for you, but I can look into it."Sophie's reply came almost immediately. "That's more than I expected. Thank you."Eva smiled faintly before typing again."Don't thank me yet. I haven't done anything""I know. I just appreciate that you're willing to try."She placed her phone beside her plate and thought about the request for a moment. She wasn't going to ask Julian to simply give Sophie a position at Castellan Group. She wouldn't want that for Sophie either. She began thinking about the kind of work Sophie might actually be suited for. Sophie had always been comfortable around people, and she had a way of making conversation even when she didn't know someone well. She was also good at social situations, which made her think that something involving clients, events, hospitality, or public relations might suit Soph

  • Forced to Wear My Sister's Wedding Dress   The Request

Morning light had begun to filter through the curtains when Beatrice opened her eyes. Victor was already awake beside her, resting against the headboard with his phone in one hand. He had been going through a few messages, but the moment he noticed her stirring, he placed the phone on the bedside table and turned his attention to her.Beatrice stretched beneath the sheets before turning toward him."You've been awake long?""Long enough."She studied him for a moment before resting her head against the pillow. The room was quiet, but her thoughts had already returned to something she had been wondering about for the past few days."How did the meeting with the former legal adviser go?"Victor's expression changed slightly."It gave me more than I expected."Beatrice turned fully toward him. "That sounds promising.""It wasn't exactly promising." Victor leaned back against the headboard. "But it confirmed something.""What?""That people are paying attention to Eva."Beatrice's eyes na

  • Forced to Wear My Sister's Wedding Dress   The File She Found Agay

Eva arrived at Castellan Group earlier than usual the following morning. The building was still quiet when she stepped through the executive entrance, with only a few members of staff moving through the corridors while most of the offices remained unoccupied. She had several things to finish before the day's meetings began, but as she walked toward her office, her attention was drawn to the archive corridor. She slowed when she reached the cabinet. She had not come looking for the file. At least, that was what she had told herself when she left home that morning. She had come to finish some outstanding work and clear her desk before the next round of assignments, nothing more. Yet somehow, her feet had carried her back to the same cabinet she had stood in front of more than a month ago.She remembered what had happened the last time. She had been reading an old internal file when Henderson appeared and immediately told her she should not be looking at it. At the time, she had let it g
