Chapter 7

“White wolf”

POV Samatha 

    Gabriel wakes me up earlier than I usually get up. “If you let me go for runs, I’ll start talking to you,” she says. “What’s stopping you from tying running away to find our mate?” I ask. “ I promise I won’t try to seek our mate out until you're ready.” She answers. I get out of bed loudly to wake up Kyle.

    “What are you doing?” Kyle asks.

    I explained without going into great detail about my wolf ignoring me, and her morning request of going for runs. He agrees it would be a good idea to bond with my wolf. However, he wants to come with me, so that the pack doesn’t think I’m an enemy breaking into the pack. He gets up with me, and hands me a bathrobe and takes one too. We head out near the forest, pull off our robes, and I change first. I see my white paws and feel that my wolf is grateful.

    Kyle doesn’t change right away. He just stares at me. “You’re so beautiful,” he says," Do you know how rare pure white wolves are?" Then he changes into his wolf, Darius. A pure black wolf with black eyes. 

    Darius runs fast, but Gabriella catches up and passes him. They chased each other for over an hour. By the time we get back, and shift, and put on our robes, I’m exhausted. He tells me to go have a shower, and go back to bed, and to report to the kitchen at noon. You don’t need to tell me twice. I run downstairs. Have a hot shower, and pass out in my bed. My wolf wakes me up at 11:30am for work. She’s happy, not super chatty. Which is good. It’s just nice not to feel alone. Even when Kyle sleeps in my bed and cuddles me, I know he is not mine. He belongs to Melanie. 

    I get up to the kitchen. The omega is doing my job. She glares at me to make it clear she’s not happy about it. Gabriella growls at her, scaring the crap out of the omega. She practically flies out of the room. It’s hard not to laugh. 

    “The Luna was screaming at the top of her lungs this morning about Kyle and you taking your wolves out for a run together,” she laughs. “There's never a dull moment since Kyle became alpha. Kyle’s father had a mistress, but she got along well with the Luna," Amanda tells me.

    After the lunch rush, I go to the washroom. When I come out, there is Melanie standing in front of the kitchen entrance with an enormous axe, looking crazed. She goes to swing the axe. However, Gabriel lunges us forward into Melanie. Melanie falls hard on the kitchen floor with us on top. The axe falls out of her hand and slides under the dishwasher. Gabriel continues hitting Melanie until she passes out. Then we get up and continue doing the dishes. Like nothing happened. Eventually, Kyle comes in and shakes his head. Throws Melanie over his shoulder, and leaves. After work, I go downstairs, and there’s Kyle.

    “She’s back in the infirmary,” he laughs. "I just don’t understand why you two can’t get along like my dad’s wife and mistress did?" he asks.

    “Maybe because you two were together for so long before you became alpha. She didn’t have to share you before,” I tell him." Also, your dad’s mistress wasn’t your mom’s best friend growing up."

    “Dad figures you’ll get along eventually,” he shrugs.

    We continue like this until the weekend of the pack meeting. Every time Melanie gets out of the infirmary. She plans another attack. I found her in the kitchen supply cabinet, hiding under my bed, in my bedroom closet, and I even found her in the kitchen freezer one morning. I think they let her out of the infirmary too early that time. She obviously wasn’t thinking clearly. She was practically an ice cube when I found her. It doesn’t help that Kyle sleeps in my bed every night. I try to get him to sleep in her bed. He refuses every time. Kyle’s basically my glorified bed warmer.
