Chapter Six

They arrived at a tiny waterfall with a beautiful lake glistening in the evening sun.

Jaesung had taken Yihai's hands again and led him up some small rocks as the gingerly made their way behind the water fall. There was a small cave there. The evening sun reflected an orange light in and it smelled like damp dust, but not too bad.

"This is my favorite place to watch the sunrise or sunset," Jaesung said. "It's beautiful through the waters."

Yihai looked out through the waterfall and was captivated by how beautiful the rays of the sun looked through it.

"It's good."

Jaesung found a dry patch of ground and sat down while Yihai stood awkwardly, toeing at the ground.

"How was China?

"It's good," Yihai said then corrected himself as he sat down beside Jaesung, watching the dimming sun through the waterfall. "It was good."

"You changed a lot, Yihai," He could feel Jaesung's stare burning into the side of his face. "You're nicer for a start."

Jaesung laughed, a melodious sound Yihai wanted to hear over and over again.

"How come I don't remember who you are at all?"

Jaesung shrugged, picking up a stone and scratching irregular patterns on the ground. "I wasn't significant to you."

There was no bitter undertone in his words, it was just like a fact he'd accepted and there's nothing he could do about it.

"Oh.." Was all Yihai said.

There was a short silence as both boys watched the sun. It had started setting but Yihai didn't feel like leaving Jaesung's side any minute. Right here, beside him was better than his suffocating room.

Suddenly, Yihai's phone rang and Jaesung glanced at him. It was his father.

"Where are you?" Was the first thing he heard. "The maids informed me that you've been gone for over three hours."

What!? Has it been that long?

"I went for a walk." He stated simply, feeling infuriated but trying to contain it. He hated it when his father acted like he cared.

"Go back right this instant. I have some business partners coming over and you have to be present."

"I don't want to. Goodbye." Yihai said and dropped the line, immediately switching off his phone. "Aargh I hate him so much."

"Who?" Jaesung asked.

"My dad," Yihai sighed. "I really don't like him."

Jaesung went silent.

Yihai stood, dusting his rear end, "It's late, I have to get going. Won't you too?"

Jaesung shook his head, grinning brightly. "I'll stay a bit more. Do you know your way out?"

"Yes..."

"Just keep straight from that brush we came out from, it's not difficult to find the main road."

"Okay..." Yihai said, then added tentatively. "See you...later?"

Jaesung perked up. "You want to see me again?"

Yihai blinked. "No. I mean... well yeah... no... I was wondering-"

Jaesung released a laugh. "Yes, you'll see a lot of me around...for sure."

"Okay..." Yihai said again. "Then...goodbye."

"See you later." Jaesung smiled, giving a small wave.

"Yeah, see you later." Yihai replied and walked out of the little cave, feeling Jaesung's eyes on him.
