Chapter 3 - Fearlessly Cared

Andrei's POV

Part of my plan in visiting the western border military base for inspection was to go hunting.

The forest in this western border was renowned as the best hunting place in the nation.

I love hunting. So I never let the opportunity pass by.

Though I have my own personal bodyguards with me, General Rossini insisted on sending twenty soldiers to protect me.

Excitement rushed through my veins as I smelled the forest air.

Ever since I became president, I had not had a chance to go hunting.

And it's been years since the last time I went hunting.

After an hour being in the forest, I finally spotted a wild boar.

Hunting really needs patience.

I aimed my gun at the wild boar and shot.

Knowing that there was no decline in my shooting skill, I got elated.

Because of my excitement I did not wait for my bodyguards or the soldiers to clear the place for me.

I slung my gun on my shoulder and hurriedly made my way to the wild boar.

I crouched down to inspect how big the wild boar was.

And all of a sudden, I heard a growl coming from my back.

"Mr. President!" I heard voices calling me.

In an instant, I took my gun. However, I was late as the bear had already swatted his foreleg, injuring my abdomen.

I fell on the ground with my hand on my wounded torso.

Before the bear could attack me further, I heard a gunshot and the bear fell down sideways.

I heard one of the military personnel phoned General Rossini while the other soldiers came to help me.

I heard him say, "Yes sir."

I was carried to the car and the military personnel who called General Rossini drove the car.

The other cars were tailing us.

I frowned when he turned left after driving about two miles instead of going straight. "Where are you taking me?"

"Sir, we have a military surgeon residing here, we will be there in a short while."

We waited for a minute in front of a big country house before a girl came out.

My body froze as I saw the girl with purple eyes.

Her voice echoed in my head and heard words ringing in my ears. "He's a beast."

She was the only person who scolded me mercilessly aside from mother.

My mom scolded me whenever I did things deserving scolding when I was a kid.

Now that I am an adult, no one dared to scold me.

Only she dared to scold me.

She knocked on the car window as soon as she was near the car.

Her other hand was on her back. I know she was alert and had a gun tucked at her back.

I wound down the car window and clearly saw her beautiful face and she whispered, "Mr. President?"

My coldness vanished instantly at her voice, I heard the care in her voice.

She ran back to the house like a thunderbolt. And soon the garage opened.

As I was being helped getting out of the car, she ran to help.

I felt her warm palm hold my arm and she flung it around her shoulders.

I could smell the fragrance of her shampoo. I breathed in deeply, savoring her fragrance so that I could not smell the stench of my own blood.

She held my waist and felt her warmth but pretty soon, pain shot through my body as she pressed my injury.

I wanted to scold her but she spoke before me, thereby swallowing my anger.

"Bear with it Mr. President, I have to stop the bleeding," she said.

My anger didn't linger that long as she began to amuse me when she scolded her fellow soldier for not protecting me well.

The worry and concern she had for me touched my heart.

I am a cold person. I became like this because of that person.

She made my heart stone cold. Unable to feel anything but anger.

But this girl warmed my heart.

It is because I know she doesn't have ulterior motives in showing her concern.

She cared for the woman on my bed.

Reprimanding me fearlessly because she felt I was being inhumane.

She didn't care what would happen to her.

She fearlessly cared.

I understand her heart. She has a soft heart.

I hope she won't meet someone that would turn her tender heart into a stone heart like mine.

I wished someone would protect and take care of her heart.

As I lay down on the surgical table, I heard her instruct her comrade to bring blood for me because I might be needing it.

I admired her presence of mind. I wondered how long she had been a surgeon.

From her looks, she was just in her early twenties. Twenty one? Perhaps twenty two?

I didn't know how long she tended to my injury.

Several hours passed when I woke up in an unfamiliar room.

Scanning my surroundings, I deduced I am inside a woman's room as the interior was feminine.

I guessed it was that beautiful purple eyed girl's room.

"Mr. President, you're awake," I heard the voice of one of my trusted generals.

And turned towards the owner of the voice.

Behind him was a beauty.

Beauty that could launch a thousand ships.
