Chapter 16: Mind reading Practice

We walked over to a restaurant nearby and took a seat on their outdoor terrace. The restaurant was fairly empty. A waitress in her early twenties came over almost as soon as we sat down. She gave us a warm smile. “Are you ready to order?”

Cassie nodded.

“I’ll have the burger and a coke,” I told the waitress. 

“That’s a great choice. We do have the best burgers in town.” She scribbled something down on a piece of paper and glanced at Cassie.

“I’ll have the same,” Cassie said with a smile.

The waitress turned back to me. “Anything else?”

I gave her a nod. “We’re good thanks.” 

Her gaze lingered on us as she walked away.<
