Chapter 23: Elemental Magic

I’d been asleep on the blanket by the window when Cassie's cheerful good morning greeting woke me up. It warmed my heart that she seemed to have recovered from the previous day.

Not long after she had gone downstairs, the front door opened. I watched as Leah and Cassie got in the car. Where were they going? It was too early for them to be going to school. I started to follow, but had second thoughts. Leah would be able to handle herself and Cassie, besides I'd see them in school soon enough.

I changed my course and flew home. I’d ask Cassie about the trip later.

 I checked my phone after I arrived at my house. Cassie had sent me a text, telling me that she wouldn't be in school today and if I could meet her in a clearing in the woods in a couple of hours.
