The Vampire's Wolf

Nina,short for Nicolina just turned eighteen in the month of the full moon.Although,considering the fact that she'd get to finally see her wolf form and get to know her mate,she wasn't happy.

The vampires and werewolves lived together in harmony ages past until a werewolf and a vampire violated the code and everything was ruined.

They were at serious war that not only claimed the lives of many of them but that of Nina's mother also-the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack,her father being the Alpha.

The whole kingdom was in disaster because the werewolves were just no match for the vampires.No one could explain were the vampires got such massive power from.

Nina feared for her father.He seemed to be slipping away gradually ever since he lost his mate and even she,being the only child,felt worse.The werewolves had an advantage during the last full moon but they were killed massively by the vampires.

Literally,they have no hope in the full moon that's to come.The vampires would come again on the next full moon and any more war could mean the extinction of werewolves.

They were only few left.Just two packs in a kingdom once filled with more than fifty of them.Her pack-the Blood Moon only had her,her sick father and the two soldiers that survived the last war-Avery and Axel.

The second pack-the Storm Moon had less than twenty two members left.

Nina stared through her window and didn't even move when her father came in.Not until he moved a chair towards her did she snap out of her thoughts.

"Dad." she smiled weakly "You're here"

Alpha Ralph stared at his daughter

"What were you thinking?"

She hesitated for a while,her blue eyes piercing through his.She knew she couldn't lie.

"About...the vampires." her voice cracked

"You shouldn't be thinking about that,Nina.It's your birthday,although it doesn't look like it.I'm really sorry for not making you ha-"

"Please Dad.Don't say that.We're all trying to survive.My birthday doesnt matter."

He held her hands.

"It's still your day."

"It's not." she sniffed "Just few more days and they'd be here again.This time they'd kill us all"

"I won't let that happen" he shook his head as he wiped the tears in the corner of his eyes.

"Dad,you can't fight.You know that.You don't have enough power."

"Still,I'll have to do all it takes."

Nina refused.

"There's no way I'm letting you go through another war.I..I can't lose you dad."

"There's no way I'll let them kill you,Nina.Tell me...do you..perhaps..feel anything? I mean..a sign for your mate?"

Nina shook her head "Nothing" How could she possibly be thinking about that now? She'd always dreamed of a perfect marriage to her mate who would love her to the bones,through thick and thin.And for all she knows he could have been killed during the war.

He stood up and nodded,ready to leave.He prayed in his heart that she'd feel something sooner,at least before the vampires come again.

Somehow,he knew in his heart that they'd come sooner than expected.This was why he needed her to find her mate quickly so he could hand her to him and get them faraway from here because...he had a hint that he won't be there for Nina after this war.

He knew they'd be coming for him this time.He knew he'd die and that is why he'd do everything to protect his bloodline-Nicolina.
