PROLOGUE
『.+* •ᴘʀᴏʟᴏɢᴜᴇ• *.+』 "So do Fairytales really exist?" THE AGE OF MYTHICAL BEINGS subsisted long before the medieval Renaissance period. As early as 500 years ago, mankind trusted a certain species of The Mythics. Mages. Sorcerers, the magic wielders. Some as wise and powerful as the Great Merlin himself. But as time went on, they began to disappear, one by one. Vanished from the face of the earth. Extinct. Never to be seen or heard of again. No one ever knew whatever happened to the magic users. But long after the Renaissance era came to pass, a few species lived on. Throughout countless cultures inked onto humanity's timeline in history, in all foreign folklores; there have been tragic backlashes, human beings encountered their loved ones, and succumbed to the ever deadly pricks of what they're originally known, as The Dark Mythics. In the earlier stages of society, the Dark Mythics were feared, despised, and marked as outcasts—however, they too hated humanity back. Regarding the

CHAP. ONE—PASTONVILLE.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ᴏɴᴇ • *+.』 ~TUESDAY WITH THE POPULATION OF ONLY 46,000, Pastonville was one of the smallest remote settlements in the whole United States. Not a lot of people come around the place, tourism covers mostly 54% of the town's annual income. With gorgeous lakes, woodlands and the best camping spots, 'Pastonville' relied on its mountain forest scenery for the tourism industry. "Alright, final stop; Pastonville!" The bus driver ceased at one stop. One girl docked out of the bus, with large baggage with her, she took them out of the trunk by herself. After getting her stuff out, the bus casually drove off, fuming out smoke from the exhaust without care. The teen violently coughed at the exposure. "Asshole." She cussed under her breath. The red-headed teen looked around the quiet, empty town. Shrouded under the orange leaves of the fall season. She didn't want to be here, but her dad said it was for the best. Now that he remarried and "unfortunately" couldn't take care of her

CHAP. TWO—HIGH SCHOOL.
『.* +• ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ᴛᴡᴏ• *.+』 ~WEDNESDAY IT WAS PRETTY GREY FOR SEVEN AM in the morning. Scarlett sluggishly awoke from a soft slumber, it was nice having peace and quiet for once. El Paso had the same loudness as any city big as Houston, but just a small fraction of it though. She actually enjoyed it. The birds chirping around was the only good music she could hear out into lake-embedded Pastonville, she couldn't hear that loud party house far downhill, that was an included bonus. "Scarlett, you better get up and eat before you miss your first day." Great, a moment of bliss ruined. The teen groaned from under the pillow in protest. Scarlett didn't want to go to school, hell, she'd rather jump off a—okay that was too graphic for a thought. But she hated school as much as life. She tussled her wild red hair back as she got her head off the pillow. She wasn't prepared to go to school this early, she just left El Paso, and she doesn't like the town at all. But she missed the ambiance, the p

CHAP. THREE—THE SPECIALS CLASS.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ• *+.』 ROOM 384. That was what was plated on the wooden room door. Scarlett stayed behind the principal the entire time after scanning her class schedule. All her lessons were going to be in one classroom, which included Homeroom. But a bit of a relief for her. At least she won't get to see a lot of students in her way. It was situated further away from most other classrooms, in fact—the nearest doors were either just the janitor's closets or just the empty, dead-end corridor of brown tiles. But the question still sticks out on who her classmates were. Were they applied to the same course as her? What kind of course is this? Why would Scarlett be forwarded into this class in the first place? Or was it how the school system worked? Was it a foreign exchange class? Or was it in a grade system form? Were her grades not good enough? But then again, Scarlett always has been a standard C- to B- student, no matter how hard she tried. Garrix swerved open the door, and ju

CHAP. FOUR—CAFETERIA.
『.* +• ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ꜰᴏᴜʀ• *.+』 THE DAY CONTINUED AS SOMEWHAT MUNDANE. The Specials Class, however...weren't much the same as what Scarlett had back in El Paso. Professor Ada was going to be her teacher in every lesson. Math, Geography, the Sciences—most of the lessons were basically just minuscule as if the classes didn't actually matter. And they had no P.E. Which was weird because; wasn't Physical Education supposed to be important for each student? But why should she care? Scarlett hated sports with a passion. It was like being homeschooled, except actually being 'at' school. The students in the class though were all a little weird. Danté did reach out and talk to Scarlett for a bit. Mostly he asked what favorite colour she liked. Sapphire was chatty even at a first impression. Fortune was pretty direct that she didn't like her very much. Gadiel and Nicolai weren't much talkative either. Scarlett sighed, looking down at her notebook after writing down notes for the day. The class perio

CHAP. FIVE—EXACTLY LIKE STRANGER THINGS.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ꜰɪᴠᴇ• *+.』 SCHOOL WAS COMING TO A CLOSE AS students flocked out the exit doors. Some were hanging around the concrete staircases, the main building pillars, or the large lion statues. Even after the whole day sitting down and taking lessons, it really took the air out of the redhead. Scarlett couldn't keep up with Professor Ada's algorithms. And it came with the homework. She wasn't sure about the others though, Danté slept throughout most of the class. And strangely, Nicolai wasn't in all day. Was it because of how he acted earlier? After the bell rang, the group all walked out as if they were up to something. They never showed up to the cafeteria—Scarlett became scarcely aware of it. It was like they were hiding something. But why would she care? "Hey, Scar. Wait up!" The 17-year-old gingerette looked back at Shawn and the three geek-keteers. "Okay. That can't be my nickname." "I told him it isn't going to catch on," Dorian chuckled. "It's a work in progress," Sha

CHAP. SIX—ENCOUNTER.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ꜱɪx• *+.』 SCARLETT WAS BEYOND PETRIFIED. Her whole form shuddered whilst gaping at his sly vindictive eyes with a shrill of pure fear. His whole figure was towering over her, pinning her against the tree with a bristle of shiny silvery hair, intimidating eyes, and a devilishly handsome façade. Scarlett was still too frightened to look over that characteristic. "A girl like you shouldn't be out here alone," he purred. He quickly leaned closer, causing the gingerette to flinch back. "Wh-what do you want from me? If it's money...y-you can have it. Please, don't hurt me." The male pulled back and glinted a fanged grin. "Tch, you humans really are pitiful. Normally, I'd like to get to know my snack before I suck them dry. But I'm kinda on an errand so..." Scarlett's skin paled even more. The fangs, the glimmering eyes, it was clear to her. This man was a real Vampire. In the spirit of fighting back, Scarlett was about to run but she was hemmed in the Vampire's trap. "Woah w

CHAP. SEVEN—IOTA.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ꜱᴇᴠᴇɴ• *+.』 SCARLETT WOKE UP WITH A SHARP GASP, her heart racing. She stared at the white ceiling before swiveling her head side-to-side. She recognized the summer blue colour of her bedroom walls. Her head was pounding, her body rigid and achy. But all-in-all, she felt somewhat alright. From the closed curtains and the fairy lights on, she could tell it was already dark out. She blinked a few times, pushing tussocks of her hair out of her face. She slowly reached over her temple and expected any twinge of unbearable pain. But there wasn't any. She tapped her forehead and scowered around her head, no injuries. She was clean. "What?" The teen was sure she hit her head. She sprang upright from her bed and repeatedly touched her face. No scars, no lacerations. She remembered having gashes on her forearm from the branches. But there were none. Nothing. Gone. As if she was never inflicted. "How long was I out?" She whispered to herself. Scarlett shifted to her open bedroom

CHAP. EIGHT—SECRETS.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ.ᴇɪɢʜᴛ• *+.』 ~THURSDAY, THE NEXT DAY Scarlett walked through the halls of the school on a cloudy sunny morning. She pulled up the forearm sleeve of her jacket, no wounds whatsoever. It was confusing her, she knew she had scratches. But maybe her concussions made it all feel real. And the Vampire that almost killed her? Maybe he wasn't real either. She was starting to believe her uncle and accept the reality. She should probably stop reading the Twilight novels. But...she was sure she heard Gadiel's voice. But what happened to them? Did they get killed? She never actually thought about it. She never asked her uncle about it because she was pretty afraid to ask. Just before school was about to start, she was about to enter her classroom. But before that, she stopped at the conversation coming from inside. "What do you think we should do? He managed to get away from us. We're just lucky he didn't bite her." "Chill out, Fortune. At least we saved her. That's all it matter

CHAP. NINE—JELLY.
『.*+ • ᴄʜᴀᴘ. ɴɪɴᴇ• *+.』 THE HOURS OF THE DAY CONTINUED TO PASS AS the bell rang throughout the wooden brown corridors of the school. Students began running around and filling the space of the halls, some stuffing their books into their lockers while some remained chatting with their fellow classmates. At the sight of Scarlett walking by them, a few began to whisper conspicuously. "Seriously? Her? In the Specials Class? That group of weirdos?" "Yeah, but...she's the only one we can see here. No one else saw those guys more except her." "I wonder what they're like." "And what's so special about them anyway?" "Who knows. Maybe they mean Specials as in disabled." "It doesn't seem like that to me." Thoughts ran in Scarlett's mind as she recalled back to what Gadiel, Fortune, Danté, Nicolai, Sapphire, and Professor Ada were talking about. About this Jagger character. Who is he? Was it that Vampire she saw yesterday? It had to. She wanted to ask about it. But there was a chance they
