Joshua's eyes followed Alexandra as she stood by the garden pond, her reflection shimmering in the water. With a drink in one hand and the other tucked in his pocket, he slowly walked toward her.

"I need to talk to you," he said, stopping at her side, his gaze fixed on her face.

Alexandra turned, offering the faintest smile. "Go ahead," she replied, curiosity flickering in her eyes.

Joshua hesitated. Even though she was his wife, there were boundaries he dared not cross. He knew-better than anyone-that her heart was still closed to him.

Finally, he drew a breath. "I want your permission... to take you to Paris."

His words left Alexandra stunned.

For a long moment, neither spoke. The air between them thickened as she wrestled with the thought. She didn't intend to refuse-not exactly-but she needed to weigh it carefully, to convince herself this was the right choice.

"If you're unsure-" Joshua began.

"I'm not unsure," she cut in softly. "I'm just... considering it first."

Alexandra still couldn't believe Joshua had left her so soon. Every word he'd spoken over the past few days echoed endlessly in her head. Foolishly, she had brushed them aside, convincing herself everything would be fine. She never allowed herself to think of the worst-yet the worst had come, just as it always does."I don't understand why you had to go so quickly," she whispered, lowering her head as hot tears streamed down her cheeks. "I promised I wouldn't cry like this, but it's so hard to keep that promise." Her voice cracked as she wiped her tears, though more kept falling. She wanted to stay strong for him, to keep her promise, but no matter how she tried, the grief was overwhelming. It all felt like a nightmare she hadn't woken up from. She wanted to scream, to rage against fate, to curse at the cruel world. But deep down, she knew it wouldn't change anything.Even in his final moments, Joshua had begged her not to be sad. For him, she had to try-she owed him that much."Alexa

With great reluctance, Joshua finally gave in to Alexandra's request to return to Country A. He had worked so hard to keep her far from Roger's reach-but now, because of his worsening illness, there was no other choice."I'm sorry, Alexa. All I ever wanted was to have you by my side... because I know my time is running out," Joshua whispered weakly."Selfish! You're so damn selfish. You used the situation, pressured my mother, and forced me to part from the man I truly loved!" Alexandra snapped, her voice sharp with hurt. Her chest tightened. Deep down, her heart ached from Joshua's deception."Alexa, enough. Joshua only meant well," Elisa said softly, trying to mediate."Well? Good for who? I'm the one who was lied to!" Alexandra shot back. But in the end, she could only sigh heavily and continue packing. That very night, they boarded a flight back to Country A.The moment they landed, Joshua was rushed to the hospital. Alexandra had already reserved a VIP room and immediately called

Just as Roger predicted, Stacy called him that afternoon."Why should we meet? We no longer have any business together," Roger said flatly over the phone."I only wish to apologize in person," Stacy replied sweetly."Fine. But I don't have much time. If you insist, come to my office this evening."Stacy's heart leapt. She thought this was her chance. She never suspected she was walking straight into a trap.Later that day, when Stacy arrived, Roger's secretary Diana let her in without question. Since Alexa's departure, Diana had been filling in as his temporary assistant. The warm treatment made Stacy feel hopeful-maybe Roger had finally softened toward her."Good afternoon, sir," she greeted with her brightest smile.Roger returned it, which only deepened Stacy's conviction that he had forgiven her."I only came to apologize for my behavior the other day. I know I should have been more professional. I've already faced the consequences, but I just hope you won't blacklist me. As a ges

Paris had always been Alexandra's dream city since she was a little girl. Back then, she often imagined herself walking its streets and visiting its world-famous landmarks. Now, that childhood dream had come true. She was living in Paris with her husband Joshua, and Elisa."Do you like it here?" Joshua asked one afternoon. They were strolling around the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, one of the monuments Alexandra had always wanted to see. Since Joshua happened to have free time that day, he had taken her there. Built between 1806 and 1836, the Arc de Triomphe stood proudly at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle, at the western end of the Champs-Élysées."I love it here," Alexandra replied. "There are so many beautiful places to visit. Ever since I was a child, I've dreamed of coming to Paris. But now... now I actually get to live here."Joshua smiled warmly. He was glad to see her slowly opening up. At first, she had only spoken to him when necessary, but now she was beginning to sha

That night, Stacy came home slightly drunk. Naturally, that immediately worried John and Karina."What on earth is this?!" Karina snapped. "Do you think it's acceptable to come home like this? Your father and I never raised you to be so reckless!""This is all because of that man!" Stacy shouted back. "Do you even know what he did to me, Mom? Roger fired me as his brand ambassador! He tore up my contract like it was nothing. He even paid thousands in penalties just to cut me off! I can't believe it-after everything, after how hard I tried to get close to him. And I wasn't pretending, I really do love him!"John froze. He never expected his daughter to harbor such feelings for Roger."You've fallen in love with the wrong man," he said quietly."Why, Dad? Why is it wrong? All this time, whenever I mentioned Roger or his family, you always changed the subject. Tell me-did you have some kind of conflict with them in the past?" Stacy pressed."Enough for tonight. Get some rest," John repli

One hour and fifty minutes later, Roger landed in Australia.Exhaustion pulled at him, but his resolve was stronger. As he stepped through the bustling terminal, his eyes searched the crowd for the contact he'd been promised. He hated waiting. Even the short flight had felt unbearable-two hours of torment, two hours of imagining what Alexandra might say... or worse, what she wouldn't.Finally, a sleek black car pulled up. Roger didn't wait for introductions-he yanked the door open and slid inside, irritation etched across his face. The driver began, "I'll be taking you directly to the address where-""Just drive!" Roger barked, slamming back into the seat. "No small talk. I've waited long enough."The car surged forward, but Roger's chest still felt tight, suffocating. Questions circled his mind like vultures. Why Joshua? Why so suddenly? Why without telling me? His fists clenched against his knees. He would have his answers-he had to.Minutes later, the car slowed to a stop in front
