ALPHA XANDER’S POVI faced Daciana who only shook her head, her lips pursed in anger. She didn’t like that I readily agreed with Donovan, but what could I do? It was the only possible option right now.“What do you know?” I asked him, moving until I was standing only a few feet away from him.“Ah, give me a moment to catch my breath.” I glared at him and he grumbled. “Fine then.” He motioned to the brick that was sitting on the other side of the room. “Make yourself at home.”“Donovan.” I growled out in frustration. He rolled his eyes.“Fine then, so fucking touchy.” I stared at him with an expectant expression, my patience barely hanging by a thin. “Her wolf is trying to force itself out,”“Okay, what about that?” Daciana was the one that spoke. My mind was starting to run almost in overdrive, thinking of what to do next, where to go from there. I didn’t know how to deal with wolf issues, they were considered an impure breed of Lycans so I can’t use any knowledge as a lycan on her.“
ADRIANA'S POVAs I wake, the first thing I see is the ceiling above me. It's white and plain, but there's a crack running along the corner that I can't help but fixate on. My vision is still blurry, but as it clears, I realize that I'm in a hospital room. The distant ringing of a monitor above my head is the first thing that I hear. It's a steady beep that's comforting and annoying at the same time. The smell of drugs fills the air, it's a mix of antiseptics and something else that I can't quite place. The room is dimly lit, but I can make out the shapes of machines and equipment that I don't recognize.I try to move but my body feels heavy, and my head is pounding. I close my eyes, trying to focus on the sound of the monitor, and take a deep breath. When I open my eyes again, I see the window by the bed, it's misty outside, and the view is hazy. I can hardly see anything but the mist. It's a strange feeling, like I'm suspended in between reality and a dream. I don't know how long I've
ALPHA XANDER’S POVI was a bit nervous as I walked into Adriana's hospital room. The last we’d seen each other, I had refused to listen to what she had to say and I accept full responsibility for what happened to her. The guilt was eating me up, there was no way to stop it. I doubted she wanted to see me anyways but that wasn’t about to stop me.With a heavy heart, I turned the knob and pushed the door open. Adriana was lying on the bed, her eyes opened and she was staring ahead. Apprehension ate at my insides seeing her like that, I was overtaken with joy, she was awake and fine and I wanted nothing more than to wrap my arms around her. The mate bond pushed me to do that, common sense had me taking small tentative steps towards her bed. I’ve never been this careful or cautious with anyone. I never had to be, so it was slightly overwhelming.I was a few feet away from her bedside, Dacian pushed herself forward and took her arm, she whispered something to her that I didn’t pay attentio
ALPHA XANDER’S POVAs I sent the message, the urge to run gripped me. I needed to do something else to clear my head, and the run sounded best right now. There were no easy answers when it came to Adriana's condition, a wolf fighting it’s other part isn’t something that is common, the study would take a while. As I sat on the bench outside Adriana's hospital room, my mind was consumed with thoughts of the rogue attack. No sane being would dare to threaten the safety of my pack, it was like begging for death. The thought was almost laughable.Daciana's voice pulled me from my reverie. "Xander, what's wrong?" she asked, concern etched on her face.“Rogues were sighted around the border.” I said simply. “Shit. Is it bad?” I shook my head.“I don’t know. I want to go down there to make sure it’s nothing serious.” I explained. I felt the familiar tingling, someone was trying to break down my mind barrier. It was like a mind link but far more urgent. I let the person in and Donovan’s voice
ADRIANA’S POV I woke up to the sound of beeping machines and the smell of antiseptic. My head was heavy and my body weak, like I was between life and death. I tried to move, but I couldn't even lift a finger. Panic set in as I realized I was completely paralyzed. My limbs felt too heavy, the only thing seeming to move was my eyes. I forced my mouth open and let out a groan, thankful that I could at least move it too. The door to my hospital room opened and Daciana rushed in. her face was etched in worry, her steps tentative as she moved to my bedside. "Adriana, how are you feeling?" she asked, her voice trembling with worry. I tried to speak, but my throat was dry and the words wouldn't come out, only a small moan of pain. Daciana, seeing my struggle, quickly grabbed a cup of water from the bedside table and brought it to my lips. “Here, open up.” she said, her tone a soft command. I nodded my thanks as I took greedy gulps of the water, when my throat felt wet and not like sandpaper
ADRIANA'S POV "Good morning, Adriana.” The feminine voice sounds from behind. “How are you feeling today?" I straighten up, half-turning to catch a better view of the smiling doctor. "I feel a lot better, thank you." I replied, turning towards Daciana who gave me a tired smile. Her eyes had bags under them from lack of sleep but it didn’t seem to affect her in any way. As much as I’d tried to convince her I was fine and she could go home, she refused, saying she wouldn’t leave me alone in the hospital. I had a feeling she wasn’t telling me everything but I didn’t push it and gave up. She kept me busy telling me stories of her growing up, she was careful to not mention her brother in any of those stories. I was grateful for it, he was the last person I wanted to see. He hadn’t even bothered to show up at the hospital since last night, not that I wanted to see him, but he could at least pretend to feel sorry for what he had done. The doctor interrupted my angry thoughts by responding
ADRIANA’S POV“I don’t know what happened, he said he’ll be back but I’m unable to reach him and a few people have also reported the same thing.” Daciana said, her tone low and showing just how worried she was. Something squeezed in my chest though I stopped it, reminding myself how bad he had treated me. I didn’t have to feel sorry for him.“Oh,” was all I managed to say. Dacaina didn’t say anything, she just forced a smile and shook her head.“Anyway, it’s Xander. I’m sure he’ll turn up when he is ready.” She said, more to herself than me and smiled again, it looked a little more real now."Are you ready to go? The car is parked right outside." She said, standing up. I bet she couldn’t wait to leave this place, I felt the same too so I couldn’t fault her. She’d even stayed longer than I expected and I appreciated it. I wondered what was going on in her mind right now, and what she had to go through while looking after me all this while, not knowing where her brother was. I looked o
ADRIANA’S POVDaciana pushed me through the short length of the paved pathway to the front door of the Packhouse. There were only about three people hanging outside the place. Two teenagers chattering animatedly and a gardener trimming the bushes. He was the first to notice us, he bowed in respect before going back to her work. When we got close enough to the teenagers, they also did the same. I just sat stiff in the wheelchair not knowing what to do, I mostly got scornful looks from people back in my back. It was kind of weird seeing their submission, though it was mostly directed at Daciana and not me.When we got closer to the front door, I noticed a tall figure standing on the upper part of the building. From the way my heart thudded in my chest, I knew it was Xander. I commanded my stupid heart to stay still, not even knowing if it was reacting that way due to fear or anger, or something else entirely. He was standing on the balcony on the first floor, his back turned to us. I fe
