Ava’s POV

I watched the video for the umpteenth time in my room at home. I noticed a lot about it, but the girl’s face wasn't clearly revealed. She only had Kia’s shape, skin color, and hair. I zoomed in, yet I still couldn’t get a clearer view of her face.

If it wasn’t Kia, then why was Chris dumbfounded when she dared him to say the truth? My curiosity burned. Whatever it was, Chris was cheating on me, and I had clear evidence.

I felt pained every time the memories of the sex we had in the hotel room flashed through my mind. I had given in so easily. Sex on a first date…that was so cheap!

My phone buzzed, and I rushed to take it when I saw that the message was from Liana.

“Hi, the video is fake! Kia wasn’t involved!”

I squinted and read it again. I glanced up at the sender’s name. Yes, it was from Liana.

I texted back. “What do you mean?” The message was delivered immediately. I waited for a moment, no reply.

“Liana, can I come over to your place?” I texted again, my patience wearing thin.

“No!” The response came fast. “We’ll see at school.”

I sighed and leaned back on my chair as I let the bugging tears roll down my face.

Was I not good enough for him?

I peeked at the small diary beside me, took it, and flipped the pages carefully as I satisfied my eyes with the sketches I’d made of Chris.

“I can’t wait to be your girlfriend, Chris Westwood,” I read from the diary.

I tore out the page, squeezed it in my hand, and threw it at the wall. My heart was broken into tiny pieces.

I lowered my head and cried.

***

I sat at my desk, glancing around. Everyone was busy, no eyes on me and Liana wasn’t yet in class, not even Bryan.

I took my phone and stared at the screen. No messages from Chris, no calls, nothing.

Moments later, Liana walked in through the door towards my desk. I dropped the phone back in my locker.

“Ava,” she called, immediately she got to my table. The disturbance in her voice raised my suspicion.

“Someone’s planning to expose you.”

I blinked hard, trying to process her words.

“Expose me?” I repeated, my voice was calm from the fear that was slowly building up inside me. I opened my mouth to speak again, but she went on.

“Bryan and I overheard Kia on a phone call. She was telling the caller to send the video. ‘Let’s make some tears stream down her face.’”

My jaw tightened.

“That’s the statement she made.”

“What video was the caller talking about?” I asked with slightly raised brows.

“I don't know,” Kia said.

“…But what does that have to do with the text you sent yesterday?”

“Ava, wake up! Can’t you see the handwriting on the wall? Kia is plotting with someone we don’t know to ruin your relationship with Chris.”

I tried to process everything, but it wasn’t just sinking in.

“Liana, I know Kia is a bad girl, but she dared Chris in front of me to speak if he knew he was innocent, and he didn’t. He said nothing because he knew Kia was telling the truth.”

My phone vibrated in my locker, interrupting me. Liana’s eyes locked on mine for a moment.

Could that be from Chris? The question was obvious on our faces.

I opened the locker, glancing intently at my Phone a Wh*tsapp notification from Chris.

I clicked and saw it: “This message was deleted.” My heart dropped.

Our eyes locked. What’s wrong with Chris? I asked myself.

“Has he called you yet?” Liana asked, and I shook my head.

“Have you seen Kia today?”

I nodded. I hadn’t seen Kia, and Chris hadn’t called either.

We weren’t done talking when Chris stepped in, looking good as always. His black uniform suit sat well on his perfectly framed body. Gazes fell on him, stunned by his handsomeness.

I thought he was approaching me when his long legs made their way toward my desk but then he brushed past me to meet Sophie, the school gossip who sat two desks behind me.

He snatched a magazine from her and tucked it into his pocket before going to his seat. The page Sophie was reading had a picture of Tessa Walker.

My chest became tight. My heart ached. I suddenly realized I couldn’t breathe freely.

I stood up. Liana stepped aside, making way for me to leave. She knew that was what I wanted, to leave the classroom. But then I paused when a strange sound caught my attention.

Kia stepped in with her two partners in crime trailing behind her.

I turned to the white marker board in front of the class:

I watched a video that played from a projector on the board. In the video, a lady was moaning from intense pleasure. Her legs were spread out, and an unknown guy was thrusting his manhood into her like it was the last time he’d ever have sex again.

The class gasped. Their gazes fell on me to confirm before returning to the video that played on the board.

My lips dropped.

“What!” I shouted.

The monstrous manhood made me moan.

“Oh fuck! Harder!” I cried. “Kill me!” I yelled.

And in the blink of an eye, the video vanished.

Liana’s face turned pale. Her lips suddenly dried out and cracked.

Chris jolted to his feet. “What the hell!” he yelled, his voice filled with pain and anger.

He stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

The class, which had fallen silent from the shock, exploded into frantic, disorganized murmurs.

“Was that Ava?” Sophie asked the girl beside her.

It was then that I realized what had just happened as devouring eyes snapped toward me. Horrible gazes, disgusting looks, hateful comments, and slanderous speech.

“She’s so sweet,” the guy behind Sophie confessed.

Another voice rose from the back. “She’s an asshole!”

My body began to feel hot.

I looked back, trying to see who had played the video, but I had no evidence, no trace. Everyone was too busy stoning words at me.

My face was covered in shame, my vision blurred with tears.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

I glanced again at Liana. Her face was masked with sadness. She felt sorry for me.

“She’s a pornstar! A badass bitch! A black sheep in a white coat!” Kia yelled, earning a lousy laugh from her friends.

I turned to Kia.

“You’ve done your worst,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

“What’s this, Ava?” Liana interrupted, her voice low and weak. I saw the disappointment in her eyes.

Just then, Kia and her friends started throwing stuff at me, empty water bottles, books, rumpled papers, and more. Liana stepped aside, leaving me to face the jabs alone.

My heart bled; I wished the ground could open and help me cover my shame.

I did it, but with only two guys: Chris and Steve.

It was either Chris or Steve. One of them was behind this.

But which one?

  • Fractured   THE TEMPTATION

DR. Dane’s POV“Are you alright, Ava?” I asked calmly. She blinked twice, a reminder that she was sane. I quietly pulled away from under her weight, and she lay naked on the bed, eyes still wide open. I wasn’t cool anymore, as Ava had succeeded in arousing me, causing my manhood to still be erect and refusing to go under my pants; even after it went under my pants, its stiffness was obvious. Just then, an unfriendly knock tore through the door. Ava’s eyes widened, and I stood still.“W…who the hell…” I said as I reached for the handle. I opened it, and to my utmost surprise, Nikky stood there, eyes swollen from crying. Her lips were a little bigger, and her face looked messy. This was how she always looked whenever she’d cried too much when we had misunderstandings or serious issues that affected our relationship. After opening the door, I stood there shocked. She knew it was just what she was thinking because the look on my face said it all. Nikky knew me too well, so she could inter

  • Fractured   CONFESSION

Dr. Dane’s POVI finished my shower and returned to the room with a towel around my waist. Ava had just taken hers and was seated quietly on the edge of the bed, her hands folded across her lap. Her eyes avoided mine each time I looked her way. There was a soft knock on the door, and the cook’s voice came through.“Sir, the dining table is ready.”Ava rose immediately and walked behind me as we made our way to the dining. The table was neatly set, two plates of food steaming, cutlery placed beside each. We sat across from each other, and the silence between us grew deeper. She ate slowly, barely raising her head. I forced myself to chew, even though the food tasted like sand in my mouth. When we finished, I stood up and told her to wait. I walked down to the bar, picked a bottle of vodka, and returned with one glass. She was still seated, her eyes fixed on the floor as if she were just meeting me for the first time. We returned to our room to at least have some privacy.I poured mysel

  • Fractured   THE BREAKUP

Ava’s POVHe helped me to sit in the chair opposite his, and I could feel my heart pounding from intense pain and anger, or something that looked like that.“How do you feel now, Ava?” he asked, but I couldn’t reply. He cleared his throat. “You never told me you took drugs to flush out the pregnancy, but I found out myself. Ava, do you want to kill yourself? What do you think you’re doing to yourself? What if the baby is affected in any way? What would you have done?”“I don’t think that’s any of your business,” I said, not knowing where the courage came from. Dr. Dane’s eyes widened. “Are you mad at me, Ava?”I was quiet; one voice said I should pour out my heart and tell him how long I have been nursing feelings for him. Tell him I love him so much, but won’t I look stupid and cheap again doing that? It’s clear that Dr. Dane doesn’t love me; he sees me as his kid sister and that’s all. To make matters worse, he is even engaged.“Ava,” he called again, pulling me out of my thoughts.

  • Fractured   I FINALLY MET HER

Ava’s POV When I finally woke up, my blurry eyes took in the sight of a figure standing before me. When my vision finally cleared, I realized it was a strange lady whom I was just meeting for the first time. She had beautiful blonde hair, brown eyes, and glowing tan skin with nice curves. “Ava right?” She asked. “I’m Nikky.” She sounded nice but didn’t release her hand for a shake, probably because I had an IV (intravenous drip) fixed on my right hand. I didn’t reply to her, I was too weak to even say a word. She wore a shirt dress that had buttons from the chest to the end of the gown before her knees. The bet was tied to the front to hold up its fitting and the chest was unbuttoned. After observing her, I concluded that she wasn't a nurse or a doctor. “Who got you pregnant?” she questioned with narrowed eyes. It was then that my consciousness returned fully. Different thoughts began trooping into my head. Was I still pregnant? After the drug? There must be a mistake some

  • Fractured   MY BODY FAILED ME

Ava’s POVHis gaze dropped when I thought he was close enough for a kiss. I stepped aside to let him in. He smiled as if to say thank you while he walked in. My heart sank as I shut the door.I walked over to the sofa and sank into the chair.“Got any plans for your birthday?” he asked, but only got a single nod from me. I thought faking another birthday would get him to notice me or perhaps satisfy the uncontrollable cravings that were gradually eating me up. Still, it only made my cravings even stronger.Bryan had brought up this plan before I left for the job, to see if Dr. Dane would fall for it and love me, but it seemed like the harder I tried, the more difficult it became.I had supported Bryan in his love affair with Tessa, so he promised to reciprocate it and help me figure out ways in which Dr. Dane could love me back or even make love to me. He said doctors cherished sex on birthdays more than casual days, and I ended up buying the idea of faking a birthday only to get to h

  • Fractured   THE TEMPTATION

Ava’s POVI rushed outside to meet him while he was entering his car. “I’ll come with you,” my small voice said beneath my breath. He looked back at me, his eyes narrowing, wondering what the hell I thought I was doing. He remained silent while I hopped into the car.The silence between us stretched as he drove, but my conscience wouldn’t let it continue. Was he mad at me now? Was he tired of me already?I cleared my throat, yet my voice cracked as I spoke. “When was the last time you spoke with Bryan?”He kept his head straight, eyes fixed on the road. “It’s been a while,” he replied coldly.Apologizing would ease a lot. I knew I had not been nice and considerate enough. From the corner of my eye, I glanced at him repeatedly until I couldn’t hold back the words anymore. “I’m sorry about what transpired between us in the hotel room.” My voice trembled but was loud enough to reach his ears.My eyes were fixed on my nails as I went on. “I just didn’t know what to do or say.” I wiped my
