IRA’S POV
Every nerve of my body seems to be on fire as I sneak past the preparation for tonight’s party, through the crowd of pack members. All of them are beaming with joy, preparing for their Alpha and Luna’s wedding anniversary party, oblivious to the present their Alpha gave to me wrapped in the form of deceit. I tried not to think about it as my whole focus right now is on leaving the mansion to visit the pack doctor and make sure that what Ravah said to me last night is not true. I would be trapped if it is.
“Luna Ira,” A familiar voice made me freeze in my tracks. Squinting my eyes in annoyance, I mentally cursed myself for failing such a small task before I plastered a smile on my face and turned to face Ceryn, my beta.
Ceryn was around five years old when her parents died, protecting mine. Ever since then she grew up with me and Myra, like our sister. But since Myra always saw her as a competition, she often bullied her which caused her to gravitate towards me.
Her brows pinched together in confusion as she took in my disheveled state, “Where are you sneaking off to?” She asked.
Her words made the color drain from my face but I forced out an awkward laugh, “Sneaking off? No, why would I do that?” I lied, as my heart thumped loudly against my chest.
Ceryn didn’t find my comedic reaction funny, if anything, her frown deepened, “I don’t know. You tell?”
“I was just going out shopping. I need to buy a present for Ares.” The lie rolled down my tongue smoothly before I could think over it. But considering the ease in Ceryn’s frown, I would say it worked.
“Okay, I will see you—” She cut me off mid sentence.
“I don’t think Alpha Ares deserves anything from you,” She mumbled under her breath but I caught it. My heart crushed to pieces at the reminder of what I saw at night.
But I decided to play dumb and pretended like I didn’t hear anything, “ –later.” I finished before turning around and walking out of the mansion.
Outside the mansion, four of our cars were parked and seeing me, an omega rushed over and I resisted the urge to caress my belly because of a sudden protective instinct. No, I can not let anyone be suspicious of me. Omega greeted me by bowing, “At your service, Luna Ira.”
I smiled at him, “Thank you but I would like to drive today.”
Without any further questions, he handed me the key of the car and without wasting any second, I got inside the car and drove away. I haven’t seen Alpha Ares or Myra since the confrontation and neither am I planning to, at least, not without divorce papers.
Soft breeze caressed my face as I cut through the air, driving the car at a speed slightly above the recommended. I can’t help it. My hands are clammy, my head is aching and the nausea is too much to handle. After a drive of ten minutes, I finally parked the car in front of the pack doctor’s house. Two years ago, when he got married to a human, he shifted to this place for her satisfaction. And, since he is the best, Alpha Ares couldn’t let go of him and just bend to his demands.
My chest tightened with anxiety and I swallowed a lump in my throat before ringing the doorbell. Standing in front of the closed door, I waited impatiently. After what seemed like eternity but only had been a few seconds, the doors were pulled open, revealing the glowing face of Nina, pack doctor, Nathan’s wife.
“Oh, hi,” She greeted with a small smile.
“Hey,” I greeted back. “Is Nathan home?”
“Yeah, come in.” She pushed the door wide open and stepped aside to let me in.
“Nate, Ir– Luna Ira has come to meet you.” She shouted.
“Ira is fine,” I assured her. Being a human, it is hard for her to keep up with our titles and ranks. Though Alpha often shames her for it in the absence of Nathan, I don’t mind it. She is new to this world.
She smiled in relief and gestured to me to take a seat. I nodded and sat down at a soft plush couch, my knee bouncing with anxiousness as I waited for Nathan to come out, already.
“Is everything okay?” Nina asked after a moment of silence.
“Huh?”
“You look tense.” She pointed out.
I shook my head and forced a smile on my lips, “Oh, it’s nothing.”
Just then, Nathan entered the living room. “It’s nice to have you, Luna Ira.” He bowed in respect.
“I am here for a check up,” I blurted out, immediately.
Despite the frown etching onto his brows, he nodded, “What kind of check up?”
My eyes went back and forth between him and his wife, contemplating whether to confide in the presence of his wife if I want to keep it a secret. She must have sensed my hesitation as she said, “I would bring some water.”
When she disappeared inside the kitchen, I leaned forward on the couch, “I want to get a pregnancy confirmation test.”
His eyes widened in surprise and he smiled, wide, “Are you pregnant?”
Fidgeting with my fingers, I answered, nervously, “I can be.”
“Oh my god, that’s such a fantastic news.” He beamed with joy while I sat like a nervous ball opposite to him. “Does Alpha Ares know?”
I swallowed the saliva down my throat, “No,”
“Why not? Wait, is it a surprise?” He questioned, eyes shining with joy.
Nathan might be working for Alpha Ares for years, but I know that he is one trustable man. He would never tell Ares about my pregnancy if I told him not to. This was probably what made it easier to confide in Nathan, “I am divorcing Alpha Ares.”
All expressions of joy vanished from his face, getting replaced by a look of shock and disbelief. “Why?”
I debated whether to tell him what Alpha Ares did to me or keep it to myself. Then, I decided that it was not my fault. It is not something which should be kept hidden for the sake of Ares reputation when he clearly doesn’t care about it, himself.
So, I told him, “Because he cheated on me.” A pause. “With my sister.”

After getting the test done, Nathan collected the samples and told me to wait till tonight for the results. Though it was easier said than done, it was not like we had any other option. Moreover, I can use this time to get the papers prepared for divorce and send them to the elders’ council.
Even if Alpha Ares refuses for divorce, I would die trying.
Because I would rather die than face this humiliation and disrespect. Not anymore.
IRA’S POVI woke up in a room which smells of expensive burnt cedarwood and smoked leather and something unfamiliar filled my lungs as I slowly blinked awake. Every muscle in my body ached like I’d been run over, stomped on and stitched together with wire.A fireplace crackled somewhere behind me. Warmth kissed my skin. The fabric of the shirt clung to my skin. Wait…. Shirt? I looked down on myself and realized that I was not in my clothes. The shirt on me does not belong to me. It was oversized, black and smelled familiar, like ashwood and something intoxicating. I sat up too fast, gasping as pain climbed through my side. That’s when my eyes fell on him. Alpha Lucian. Standing tall in the corner, still and strong. “You’re awake,” he said, his voice heavy like stone. I stared at him. Then, at myself. My mouth felt dry. The space felt too intimate for only the two of us to exist despite being vast enough to fit fifty people at once. “Where–”“You’re safe.” He announced and took a
IRA'S POV “Alpha Ares is not happy with you leaving.” Myra commented, standing with her arms crossed over her chest, wearing an unreadable expression.“He doesn’t want his Luna to go and live with another Alpha.” She added, desperately. I dropped my suitcase on the floor and straightened my spine, holding her venomous gaze, “Oh, so now he cares?” I raised a brow, mockingly. Myra rolled her eyes, “He always cared, Ira. You are the one making a big deal out of something so trivial. Alpha Ares can practice polygamy. You know, it’s normal among the Alphas.” The audacity of this woman would make me fucking strangle her one day. The only reason I am trying to keep myself as far away from conflict as possible is because I do not want to risk the health of my pup.I scoffed, “Guess what, Myra? I am not going to sit and be insulted like I mean nothing in the name of something as problematic as polygamy. He doesn’t have my consent for this shit.”“Mind your words, Ira!” She shouted, glaring
LUCIAN'S POVTurned out my cousin, Medina, is a high school friend of the broken and betrayed Luna. Once the party came to an end, Medina, my beta and I were invited for dinner so we could discuss business afterwards. But I am already cursing the minute because the constant whining of Myra about her pup is annoying the fuck out of me. And, like a fool, Ares follows her every command, blindly, like she is the one he vowed to love, cherish and protect. I wonder if Myra has casted a witch spell on the idiot. My eyes gravitated towards the beautiful luna, playing with her food absentmindedly and seeing the look of hurt flash across her I wanted to shake the fucker and knock some sense into his hollow brain. ‘Connection.’ My wolf whispered, ‘I feel a connection.’I tried to ignore the constant nagging of my wolf and how absurd his statement sounds when Luna Ira is already married. “Stop staring at her,” Medina whispered beside me, eyes shining with excitement. I arched an eyebrow, “Ob
IRA'S POVMyra is a goddamn piece of art with her skills to annoy people to the limit that they would start wishing for their own demise just to escape the hell she personally creates for them. And, unlike what I thought, Lucian has more in common with Myra than anyone else. Even Ares is better than Lucian. At least, he didn't abandon his pack when they were under attack. Though, our pack hasn't been fortunate enough to not be attacked by anyone so far. But I know, he won't leave the members of the pack to die when under attack. “If I were you, I'd watch my words, Alpha Ares.” Alpha Lucian's beta stepped in, glaring at Ares like he is stopping himself from using violence to make Alpha Ares understand. Ares rolled his eyes, discreetly and before he could make things worse with his mouth, his beta stepped up. “Alpha Ares, we can not afford to be on the bad side of Alpha Lucian.” he whispered in his ear so that only he could hear. And just like that, Ares bent to the situation like hi
IRA’S POVAlpha Lucian is the kind of man who commands attention in a room with his presence alone. His tall and muscular frame occupies more space than necessary, because of him, the hall looks funny. Every woman in the hall has their eyes on her, including Myra, who gawks at him like she is ready to sink her claws in his skin and replace it with the same violent and manipulative fabric she is made of. Leaving me behind, Ares charges towards the guest, Myra clinging to his arm as they welcome him together, “Welcome, Alpha Lucian.”Myra plasters her poisonously sweet smile, batting her lashes at him. She said, “It’s nice to have you at my pup’s celebration party.”Alpha Lucian frowned at her, displeased, shifting his focus to Alpha Ares he asked, “Who is she?”I hold back a snicker at his blatant disrespect. Alpha Ares pressed his lips in a thin line, searching for the right words to express his illegitimate relationship with my twin sister. But before he can say something, Myra chim
“Your pup is safe, Luna Ira.” Nate informed me after a brief checkup and I heaved out a breath in relief, I didn’t realize I was holding. “For now.” Nate added, concern obvious on his face.My brows pinched, “What.. why?”Sighing, he takes a seat on the chair right across from me. “It’s a subchorionic bleed,” he muttered, eyes narrowing, “Not fatal. Not yet. But you must rest, Luna. If your spirit cracks again, the baby may not survive the storm inside you.”My fingers trembled as they shifted to rest possessively on my belly, “What should I do?”“Given your suggestion, I would suggest you get separated from Alpha Ares as soon as possible or stop letting his words affect you.” A pause. “Or, I am afraid to say that your pup would face the consequences.”After getting some medications for precautionary measures, I left his house and by the time I arrived at the mansion, it sparkled with joy and light. My heart twisted, not from envy, but grief. My pup deserved this. My child was not a sh
