There is this rumor about Dominic Hayes. He never brings his one night stands over to his apartment. He was one never to mix business with pleasure. Maybe that's why he was doing so well in the business world. I thought that rule applied to me and with the note I left behind, I shouldn't even be setting foot in this apartment. The loud stomping of shoes heading in my direction caught my attention, and slowly, I traced the sound to him, the man of the moment. Dominic’s eyes lingered on me, as if undressing me, and flashes of that night flickered through my mind. “Rebecca,” he said, taking off his jacket and handing it to the woman who brought me here. She accepted it with a small smile, tuckening it under her arm with a red string envelope, gracefully moving to loosen his tie. “No need, Ava,” he halts her with a flick of his wrist. She looked stunned—this was probably the first time he’d asked her not to bother. She paused for a moment, processing it, before retreating behind him. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting." He said as I trailed my eyes back at him. I shake my head. "Of course not Mr Hayes." I said. “Please, drop the formalities you can call me Dominic…” I took a small step back, caught off guard as I recalled him saying those exact words in bed. Heat rushed to my cheeks, flushing them red with embarrassment. "Didn't you get my note?" I muttered slowly looking up at him as I swallowed. "I did." He hummed. His hands deep in his pockets. "And I'm intrigued." He walked towards me, and then circled round me like a vulture out for meat. "Most women stay back and try to find ways to get a second chance but you. You have the audacity to threaten me." He said and I could feel my voice choked up in my throat. "I'm a married woman and I made a mistake. I apologise if my words came off to you as a threat." I said turning back to head over to the couch to get my purse. I picked it up and walked towards Dominic again. "If that would be all. Goodday Mr Hayes." I said shouldering past him. "We shared a passionate night Miss Rebecca," Dominic said as i paused on my steps. "Shouldn't you take responsibility for taking advantage of me." He said as I immediately turn to see the dubious smirk on his face. I strut straight towards him, with a brow arched. "Take advantage?" I scoffed. "I was drunk, if anyone should be taking accountability for taking advantage of the other, shouldn't it be you?" I hissed as Dominic smirk deepened. "Then shall we discuss this over dinner. we could reach a common ground." He offered, extending his hand. I had been waiting for hours in his apartment and it was getting late and I was hungry but I couldn't trust him. "I'll pass." I hissed. Dominic retract his hand, fitting it perfectly in his pocket. "I heard about your mother's passing. She was admirable. I recall she even did business with my grandfather. My condolences." Dominic said and for once I couldn't help but be touched. This was the first time someone said something kind without hatred in their eyes. Everyone always gave their condolences to Julian even though it was my mother that died and gave me nothing but hateful glares. I nod, taking in his words as tears glass my eyes. "Thank you." I hoarse, my throat thick with sobs. "But I suppose this isn't what you brought me over for. Just to send me your regards. This could have been well better off as a text." I said like he even had my number. "Of course," he said. "You're going through a divorce but for some reason in the court documents it says you filed for it immediately your mother was put to rest." Dominic said as I frowned. "That's impossible. It was Julian that filed for it." I said. "But it's your name in the court documents. And you requested five billion dollars, seems a bit too much for alimony doesn't it." Dominic said and I couldn't believe it. My lawyers said the highest I could get was the three hundred million I was promised. Where did this five billion come from? "I don't know what's happening but I was promised 300 million. Even though All those amount are worthless compared to how much Crestwell is worth. Crestwell belongs to me There shouldn't even be a topic of settlement other than with Julian of course." I said, my eyes washed over to the other side of the room. Away from Dominic's. "My mother fought to inherit the company. And here I was going to lose all what she worked for." I said tears glassing my eyes. "Julian can't just oust you out of your inheritance. Don't you have shares?" Dominic asked as I froze in shame. "I sold it all for him." I hissed. "Six months ago he made a bad deal and had an heavy loss. The company was going under and he was in need of money. He said he'd buy it back the moment the company was doing alright. But..." A quake gets caught in my breath and my knees felt weak. Why was I even telling Dominic any of this? It's not like he cared. “So you don’t have any real power to stop him. You practically handed the company over to him.” The way Dominic spoke to me felt condescending or maybe I’d simply taken one too many hits to my pride. “Thank you. I wasn’t already aware of that,” I replied, my composure snapping back into place. "I think we can help each other out Rebecca." He said. "I own about six percent of shares at Crestwell. I'm willing to give it all to you but with a price." He added and this felt unbelievable. "I don't have any money to give you." I said. Dominic walk over to me. "Don't worry." His hand carefully caresses the end of my hair. "It's something you can afford and easily give to me right now." He said and I froze.REBECCA "He really likes you." Dominic said making me confused. The man didn't give a single facial expression to confirm that.At least I can eat now. The food looks good. I pick up my spoon about to dive in the food."Chairman Hayes..." I froze at the familiar squeaky voice that came from none other than Veronica. I was afraid to look up to confirm. I must be running insane and hearing things but when I finally looked up to confirm. It really was Veronica."It's an honour to meet you. My fiance is a huge fan. He always talks about you and I couldn't help but see the legend himself...." Her eyes immediately shifted to Harriet who I'm sure is Sylus fiance."Long time no see Harriet, I heard your movie is wrapping up soon. Can't wait to see it.." her eyes moved to Sylus but she didn't say anything and then it moved to Dominic."Dominic Hayes, it's a pleasure to meet you." She said giving him a curtsy and in a way flashing her cleavage to him. Out of courtesy Dominic just gives her a n
REBECCA The chairman held a dinner party. Still a dinner somewhat but a party. I've been to plenty of these but none comes close to what the Hayes has in stored. Everyone that attended were were elite, closely knit and connected either by business or by family. There were tables situated in a large like hall, one table shouldn't hold more than eight people. There were plentiful food, drinks and a black placard was situated on the table for each family written in gold.Only the Hayes Table literally has a placard made of gold or should I say it was a gold bar with the Hayes name written on it.I've heard of this party but was never once invited, well maybe Julian was invited more than once but he never really brought me. He didn't even have his own placard, that shows how insignificant he was to the chairman and so he had to buy a seat from the families that can't fill a table. It was normal, it was a way the Chairman liked to rotate new face and encourage networking. The proceeds fro
REBECCA My phone vibrated once more and incidentally my eyes panned to the mirror to see my exact makeup Naomi had put on earlier. Donned in the black dress. Not red or white.I looked to my side, they weren't there and when I could no longer hear either of them I heave a sigh of relief. My hand shakes as it moved to my phone. I picked it up to see a notification from Dominic."Are you okay? You've been awfully long upstairs.""If you don't reply me, I'll come upstairs.." I immediately swiped my purse, ran out of my apartment, shutting the door behind me and taking an elevator to the bottom floor. I walked out of my hotel, tugging on to the skirt of my dress as the cold wind of the night tickles my skin. There Dominic was, laid on his car, his eyes on his phone as a frown settled on his face. He was dressed in a black suit looking more than dashingly handsome, I didn't think it was even possible. His eyes finally wandered over to me, our eyes met and it felt like I couldn't breathe.
REBECCA "Miss Jillian.." Naomi, the stylist Dominic had hired called my name. I blinked at the mirror looking at both our reflections until I finally settled on mine.I went still, bewildered by the woman in the mirror. My mouth hung in shock, I take in a gasp as my eyes widened. "What do you think?" She asked eagerly waiting for my reply.I lift my hand up to touch my face, still baffled at the image. Naomi uses the end of my brush to press my fingers down so I wouldn't."You have to let it set first.." She said probably talking about the setting spray she applied earlier. I looked down at my phone, tapping on the screen. It's been two hours since she started beating my face and during that time I didn't even realise anything was happening."I'll be on my way now Miss Jillian.." Naomi said packing her things as I nod."Shall I escort you out?" I offered."No, there's no need." She insisted. "I know my way out." She said as I turned back to the mirror once again. She trailed up to m
REBECCA The room felt empty but I still felt the presence of Julian standing right next to me.I turned to look up at him, expecting a mischievous smirk at least to confirm he was behind this but he only gave me a pitiful one back. I get up from my seat, dragging my chair back and walking past him only for Julian to grab on to my wrist."This wasn't my doing.." he said. I could not help but scoff."Really.." I muttered, turning to him."I'm serious Veronica, I wouldn't intentionally want to hurt you. It just came up..""It just came up?" I shook my head. "You were the one who called for the meeting Julian, I'm pretty sure you were the one who brought it up and because they don't respect me, they can say such things like that. I mean where the fuck was your review when you were screwing Veronica publicly. No, I'm always the bad guy..." I tested up."Don't act so innocent, you know what you did, why the public won't take your side. It's been a year and you won't admit it. I mean, don'
REBECCA The room fell silent once more as all eyes trailed at me, waiting for my reaction. I recline back in my seat."Elaborate..." I muttered calmly and I was sure I saw a flicker of shock across their faces."Mr Orlando Sterling has being in talks for months for this particular deal. Two years ago when we wanted to partner with him he refused saying he didn't think it was wise to partner with Crestwell. Because of Julian, we were slowly able to build a relationship and gain his trust and he was so close to closing the deal up until you retained your position in Crestwell." He explained as I let out a bitter chuckle."So what? He refused because he didn't like that a woman was running Crestwell?" I muttered."No actually. He did have doubts because of your scandalous past..""Keston.." Julian spat, probably telling him to keep shut but I raised my hand at Julian."It's okay Julian.." I said and turned to Keston."If my scandalous past didn't turn him off what did?" I asked as Kesto
REBECCA "If it involves giving you my body. I'll rather not take this offer." I said as Dominic laughed letting go of my hair. “Don’t worry, Rebecca. You may not need to do that just yet perhaps later, if the need arises,” Dominic said, as my face contorted into a frown. The playful air around h
