REBECCA

Crestwell Enterprises was passed to my mother by her father. She was his only child after all his sons died in a ghastly accident. The board members didn't want a woman running the company and almost took it from her but she fought for it, even when my father almost took it from her.

And now, Julian was trying to get me to sign away my shares and my name as the proprietor for a meager 300 million dollars as alimony.

I looked over to the lawyers at the table, their eyes eagerly waiting for me to sign it.

"Julian must surely take me for a fool." I hiss slamming the pen to the desk.

"Miss.."

"I don't want to hear it." I cut off my own lawyer. "This is ridiculous Benedict. Why should I sign this? When the bastard isn't even here to request such to my face." I hissed, irritation etch to my face.

"Miss Jillian, Julian is on his way." They've repeated this almost five times now.

I get up from my seat and turn to Benedict.

"Benedict you handle things from here. Since the bastard can decide not to show his face. I shouldn't have to either." I scraped my chair back a bit, taking my purse and walking out of the room. The moment I was far enough I paused on my steps as a tear stream down my cheek.

He was actually serious.

He was going to take the one thing my mother left behind for me. After all those years we spent together, sticking by each other side. My mother practically raised him and this was how he repaid me. Even if he no longer loved me, he should have at least considered my mother.

I opened my purse, taking out a napkin. I dabbed my face of the tears thinking of what I should do.

I resumed walking, trailing towards the exit of the court house. The moment I walked out my eyes trailed towards a familiar pair of eyes, one that made my blood boil.

"Rebecca.." she squirmed, approaching me like we were close and I regret noticing her.

She stood in front of me and it's then I noticed she was wearing my clothes, my jewellery and was carrying one of my purses. She noticed as well I was taking my time staring.

"Oh this." She smirked. "I found them lying around when I moved in." She muttered.

"Julian said they're mine since I'm going to be the new mistress of the house." She said her eyes widening. "Oh, did I tell you the good news. I'm pregnant." She muttered excitedly and I recalled when Julian said the exact same thing.

"I didn't see your congratulations under my post. Didn't you see it?"

"Congratulations." I teeth a smile and it immediately falls to a frown.

"Happy?" I hissed walking past her but her hand latch on to my wrist as she held me back.

"Don't drag this divorce any longer like you did for the last three years." She said as I struggled to yank my hand away from her. "Comply to Julian's agreement and give him the company. You know, his reward for never leaving you when your mother fell ill." She said as my eyes darkened.

"Are you out of your mind?" I hissed retracting my hand back. Veronica staggered back and fell to her knees with hand over her stomach. She began sobbing and wailing like I had struck her.

"What's going on here?" My stomach churned hearing Julian's voice, it made sense why Veronica went on her knees. He runs towards her, kneeling by her side.

"Oh Julian. I just told Rebecca not to drag the divorce that I'm pregnant and she should accept your terms. She just went crazy and hit me on my stomach. Why does she always try to hurt me." Veronica sobbed as I watched him comfort her so easily. He was still cold towards me during the entirety of my mom's illness.

Just because he stayed by my side didn't mean I didn't feel utterly alone.

I turned my back against the both of them clearly irritated until I felt a hand latch on to me.

"Where do you think you're going?" I trailed it back to Julian.

"Apologise to Veronica." He said never letting go of me. It was tiring, every single time Veronica framed me I always had to apologise.

"Aren't you tired?" I said as his eyes widened.

"Don't you think you're beginning to look selfish as well? You cheat on me through the entirety of our marriage. Had me endure hell just because I didn't want my mother worried about our marriage falling apart on top her sickness. You hand me divorce papers the day of my mother's funeral, asking me to give you the one thing my mother willed to the both of us in her will and now, you humiliate me once again asking me to apologise to your mistress when you clearly saw i didn't touch her." I said and for a second I could see the guilt in Julian's eyes.

"Rebecca.." Veronica called. "If it was me, I wouldn't mind at all. But you struck my stomach, you could have killed our child. If not to me. Then apologize for the sake of my child.." Veronica said as Julian looked away avoiding my gaze. I yanked my hands away from him and turned my attention to Veronica.

"Go to hell." I hissed at her and turned to Julian. "I'll come by and get my things so you can stop handing her my handovers. It's embarrassing." A gasp leaves Veronica lips at my words as she rise up from her knees to attack me but Julian held her back comforting her as she broke into tears. My stomach churned at the sight as I turned my back at the both of them.

My heels clicked loudly as I approached the parking lot. I didn't didn't have a car but I might as well order a cab before paparazzi finds me.

Then a black jeep rolled in front of me and the window of the back passenger seat rolled down revealing a woman with shades and who had her head put in a neat bun. I could only see the top but I knew she was formally dressed.

“Miss Jillian,” she called, leaning across the window as she pushed it down further. “Get in.” She tilted her head toward the passenger seat in a casual but insistent gesture.

One id the Paparazzis. Of course.

I let out a quiet hiss, irritation prickling under my skin. “I’m not interested. Julian is right behind me—maybe he can fill you in on everything about our divorce, since you people never listen to me anyway.” I muttered, already turning to walk away.

“You spent the night with Dominic Hayes three days ago.”

My steps faltered. The world seemed to pause for a second too long.

Slowly, I turned back to her, my eyes narrowing as a chill crept up my spine.

“Get in,” she repeated, her voice lower now, more deliberate. “He wants to see you.”

REBECCA Veronica’s lips twitched, a mocking chuckle breezing past her lips until it transitioned into full-blown laughter. Her eyes tilted round the room as she turned to Matthais who turned to me in confusion about what was funny. Her head spun back, Matthias gripped on to her even more as she tilts it back in place, a brow arched in place."Let go of me." She struggled against Matthias, whose eyes flicked to me, waiting for my next command. I nod at him, his grip on her losens and he steps back as Veronica prances forward, towards my direction."Look here Rebecca.." she hissed. "I'll only pardon you only on the occasion that you must be high. So listen up, this office doesn't belong to you. Infact...." Her hand pressed to her chest."Nothing in this building is yours. You can’t even boast of owning a measly 0.1 percent of Crestwell’s shares…""But I own six percent..." I cut her off watching her furrowed brows mellow down into a line of shock. She drags a sigh out of her lips, a fr

He was handsome, probably a bit younger than me, and from the way he dressed, it wasn't hard to tell he was somewhat of a novice."M-Matthias S-Stewart... I'm your new secretary assigned to you... I mean... just today," he stuttered nervously, finding it difficult to make eye contact with me or barely form his words. My elbows rested on the table as I checked him out once more.Julian clearly kept up with one of my demands but had assigned me to a novice. On purpose? I wouldn't put it past him.I got up from my seat, walking around the desk before sitting on it, crossing my legs and folding my arms. The gesture made Matthias swallow hard."Rebecca Jillian..." I extended my hand toward him with a smile curled on my lips.He looked surprised, hesitant even, but still took my hand as we shook."So, Matthias, what's the first order o

REBECCA My heart was racing. As I recalled my conversation with Dominic. I really did just agree to a contract marriage with this man and I was neither drunk or high. And it was all because of Julian, pissing me off about apologising to Veronica. My hand dragged at my collar and it felt hot in Dominic's car. I sat in the back with him while his secretary sat at front with the driver and neither of us said another word since our agreement.Soon, the car stopped right in front of my hotel and I instantly felt a bit of relief at least the awkward tension was going to end. My hand reached for the door."One moment." Dominic interrupted me, taking off his seatbelt as the strong scent of his cologne hits my nostrils and suddenly I was taken back to moments of that night. And instead of the drunken memory of Julian I could actually see Dominic. In that moment the atmosphere got hotter but I felt my seatbelt get unstrapped and my door unlock.I looked out to see the door opened a bit and ba

REBECCA "If it involves giving you my body. I'll rather not take this offer." I said as Dominic laughed letting go of my hair. “Don’t worry, Rebecca. You may not need to do that just yet perhaps later, if the need arises,” Dominic said, as my face contorted into a frown. The playful air around him faded almost instantly. “I need a wife,” he continued. “The Chairman, my grandfather is threatening my position of succession if I don’t get married and give him an heir. And you seem like the perfect candidate for my bride.” I couldn’t help but feel offended. “How desperate do you think I am, Dominic?” I asked. “What makes you think I’m not desperate as well? Are you even considering my offer?” he replied. “And that makes it all the more insulting. Do you know what people will say about me?” I spat, steadying my breath. “A gold-digging tramp who sold her body to the highest bidder. Your offer is surely tempting, but I can’t accept it, Mr. Hayes. I can get my mother’s company without

REBECCA There is this rumor about Dominic Hayes. He never brings his one night stands over to his apartment. He was one never to mix business with pleasure. Maybe that's why he was doing so well in the business world. I thought that rule applied to me and with the note I left behind, I shouldn't even be setting foot in this apartment. The loud stomping of shoes heading in my direction caught my attention, and slowly, I traced the sound to him, the man of the moment.Dominic’s eyes lingered on me, as if undressing me, and flashes of that night flickered through my mind.“Rebecca,” he said, taking off his jacket and handing it to the woman who brought me here. She accepted it with a small smile, tuckening it under her arm with a red string envelope, gracefully moving to loosen his tie.“No need, Ava,” he halts her with a flick of his wrist. She looked stunned—this was probably the first time he’d asked her not to bother. She paused for a moment, processing it, before retreating behind
