ログインKieran POV
We couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.
“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.
I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.
We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.
“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to her calmly, holding her hand.
She convinced her to come with us into the elevator, which she did.
“Coming in here this early…”“It’s been more than a day since I asked you to leave a review on my book. He gave me his word, and you were asleep, friend.”
“He’s going to do that; just be calm and patient. There’s nothing that he wouldn’t do for me; it’s just a review and nothing more.” She replied, holding the tablet in her hand and stealing glances at her friend.
Olivia kept her eyes glued to me; I didn’t utter a word in response to hers. I knew the book was at home, and letting her know that in the elevator would sound a bit off, so I had to wait until they were both inside my office.
“The book is at the house; I can do the review once I get home.” I took my seat while she was standing, even though there was a seat beside Lyra.
“You’re in luck because I carry two extra copies in my bag, so let me give that to you. Make a review video and send it to the press, and I’ll leave immediately.” She dropped her bag on my desk, not minding the papers on it.
She is lucky the papers are not relevant because if they were, I’d have sent her out of my office with immediate effect.
“You’re that desperate?” Lyra mocked her friend with that word, but she wasn’t moved. She was focused on getting what she wanted.
“Yes, for a man like Kieran, he’s like the magnet of the internet. If he drops that video, my sales are going to double in seconds, and trust me, it’s a good read because it took me six months to craft this piece.” Olivia called me the magnet of the internet because everyone loves my success story, and having a beautiful lady beside me is also an added advantage.
“Your time frame doesn’t justify the work itself. You’ll have the audience you need, but I hope the book is worth the hype, or else you’d never create another book if this one goes bad.” Lyra sounded a clear warning, warning her about the consequences she’d face if her book isn’t as good as she claims it to be.
“He has the best PR I need, so kindly make the video, please.” She uttered before shoving the other copy into her bag.
“Lights that don’t flicker.” I read out the title of the book, groaning inside of me, considering that I’ve never been a fan of novels. I only read business contracts, manifestos, and newspapers when I’m bored, but most times it’s business contracts and documents belonging to a property I was buying.
“This is a good read, trust me on this. You wouldn’t regret making this video.”
“I hope so,” I replied and made the video, encouraging everyone to read her book.
I sent it to the media team and revealed the message I sent to them to her and Lyra.
“Run this as a public advertisement for three days.”“This is more than enough; I’m grateful. If you have any friends who need a lady, I’m interested.”
“You have your eyes out for money; I hope that doesn’t put you in trouble.” Olivia didn’t reply, but she winked at me before leaving.
Lyra let out a sigh of relief the moment she heard the door shut behind her; she was out of our hair for good, and I felt pleased.
“She’s a desperate author.” She got to her feet and went to the far-left corner of the office to pick up a bottle of wine from the wine cellar.
“Everyone is desperate to become rich; no one loves being poor. The poor who don’t complain have grown to accept the fact that nothing can be done to change their lives.” I conceded to her words, keeping my fingers crossed.
“If not for this contract, I’d be out too, like the poor, but this is going to…”
“Tell me what you think about the Calba stocks,” I asked immediately after getting a report in my email about it.
“You wouldn’t believe that I had already checked it out on our way here. We’re not investing now until after one month; the high rate of profit would be triple the initial amount we invest in one month.” Lyra wasn’t this smart before; still trying to figure out what changed her into this smart, pretty, well-endowed lady.
“So, when would be the ideal time to invest?” I was impressed by how she had it figured out before I even asked.
She always finds a way to keep me on my toes and make it look like I’m not working as well. She’s my personal assistant, so she has to be two steps ahead of me, keeping up to date and serving as a strong influence on my decisions.
“In three weeks, we invest about half a million, or if we’re willing to risk one million dollars, then so be it.” She was confident while filling my cup.
“Are you sure this is a good investment?”
“Certainty is clarity, boss,” she replied before bringing her glass closer to mine.
“A toast to the smartest young lady in the city.”
“And also to the most successful handsome man in the city.” She giggled before downing the entire contents of the cup.
Why is she doing that? Trying to get drunk this early.
Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne

Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I
Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to
Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
