LOGINCrystal's POV
Oh. My. Goddess.
The world just fucking stops spinning. Time stops. My breath stops.
I blink. Then blink again, but he's still right there on the seat, looking no less god-like than he did that night, with one exception—now he looks a whole lot scarier.
There's this scowl on his sexy face like he's about to murder someone. Maybe me?
I clear my throat awkwardly, bracing myself. "Good morning, sir."
If I thoughthe wouldl answer me, then I'm greatly mistaken. He doesn't utter a word, just keeps staring at me, his eyes piercing through my skin, like he's stripping me naked.
I shift uneasily on my feet, my heels suddenly feeling too tight. The air in the room shifts, becoming thicker and more congested.
His Alpha aura is so large and too intimidating that I feel small and insignificant in his presence.
And the fact that he isn't even saying anything?
Holy heavens! He's so unbearable. My palms are growing clammy as I stand there like a total fool, sweat pooling on my forehead.
I mentally start counting to ten, half-considering bolting out of the office and never looking back.
"Crystal Bennette?" His voice cuts into my mind.
And damn! I have to stifle the moan that escapes my throat. The way he says my name with that deep baritone, drawly and thick with amusement.
Or is it a surprise?
Either way, I will be damned if I said my pussy didn't just clench to the sound of him. And visions of the other night crash into my mind without warning.
His kisses. His touch. The way his eyes sparkled with dirty mischief as he slid inside of me. The feel of his body as we moved together as one.
Dear goddess, the way he held me after it was all over, like I was—
Damn it, Crystal! Get a fucking grip!
I cut out my nasty thoughts, swallowing hard as I force myself to focus on anything other than the heat pooling between my thighs.
My gaze drops to the nameplate on his desk, desperate for a distraction. Bold letters stare back at me: "Kieran Blackwood ."
That name. It sounds so familiar. Like I've heard it somewhere before, in a magazine maybe, or even on TV.
My brain scrambles to remember, to connect the dots, but I can't.
"Is this a fucking game to you?" I jerk around to the sound of his voice so close to my ears.
A violent shudder rips through me. When did he even move?
Before I can think too much about it, he backs me up against the door, his breath hot against my neck, wreaking havoc on my body.
"Are you ignoring me, Lyra?" His voice is low, almost a growl.
"No, I'm not, sir." I manage, my voice barely audible. "And I'm not Su—"
"What the hell are you doing here for real?" He cuts me off.
"After running away from me two days ago and blocking all forms of contact?" His gaze pins me down, dark and unforgiving.
"Explain yourself."
" I- uhm—" my voice breaks as I rack my brain for the right words.
But, fuck! He's so close. Too close and it's distracting.
I can feel the heat of his body and his musky, masculine, and intoxicating scent. It's doing unholy things to my body.
My pulse is racing so fast I'm sure he can hear it. I can't concentrate. Hell! I can barely breathe.
"Can we just start the interview and get it done and over with?" I manage to say, my lips quivering.
He pauses, his gaze dropping lower, scanning my body with an intensity that makes my stomach flip.
Then a slow, wicked smile curves his lips.
"Are you sure?" He breathes against my ear. "Because I can smell your filthy arousal from here."
My face burns. Heat explodes across my cheeks, and I want to die right here on the spot. I want the ground to open up and swallow me whole.
Because hell! He's so fucking right. I've never been so turned on in my life.
But I'll rather die than admit that.
"I have no idea what you mean." I keep my voice steady, trying to sound firm, even though my body is betraying me.
"I feel nothing for you, sir. I just want to get this interview over with and leave."
He leans in, his mouth hovering dangerously close to my ear. "You didn't sound like someone who felt nothing for me two nights ago when you had my full length buried deep inside you."
I suck in a sharp breath, my face burning hotter than a thousand suns. But I'm not about to back down.
"That night was a mistake, Mr. Steele. I wasn't in my right senses. It'll never repeat it— fuck!"
I gasp sharply as his hand suddenly slips into my slacks, shoving my panties aside and brushing his fingers against my folds.
My body goes completely rigid as my brain struggles to process.
Fuck! He really needs to stop pulling this move!
"For someone who's only here for the interview," he murmurs darkly, his fingers feeling my wetness, "you're awfully wet for me."
Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne
Kieran POVWe couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to
Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I
Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Ethan wa
Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to
Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
