Diana's POV

Surprisingly, Raphael remained calm. I knew he was bothered, but I still couldn't believe that he could maintain such composure. How could he be so calm after all I had just explained to him? Serena's mother and his mother would definitely not be calm about the matter.

Neither would Marcel and Serena be calm.

"What are we going to do?" I said, breaking the silence that had enveloped the room.

"We would do nothing—"

"Nothing?"

"For now, yes, we will do nothing. Let's watch how they play their hands, let's watch them make the first move, but we will be ready when they do."

"I don't quite follow, Raphael."

"Come on, Diana, I don't need you to worry about that now. It's getting late; let's just have dinner and rest for the night. It's been a long, hard day for both of us."

"I'm sorry I didn't even ask you about the company. How was it when you got there? Is it in good shape?"

He heaved a deep sigh. "Okay, we will talk about the company when we're done with dinner. Let me go

Serena's POV "Where are you going, baby?""I just got a call from mom, and she needs me now at a news station.""What for?""She said something about framing the lawyer for making it look like Raphael was behind the offshore account when it was actually the lawyer."We had just finished eating and were talking about family matters. Well, I wasn't really into the conversation as mom and dad did all the talking. They just kept bombarding Marcel with question after question. At some point, I had to ask them to relax, as it felt like they were overwhelming the young man.Just then his phone rang. I saw the caller ID before he picked it up—it was his mom. He had initially insisted that he was busy, but after his mother told him why he needed to be there, he didn't think twice about it.Even after hearing the reason why he was going out that night, I was happy. Initially, I had thought that we were all going to be doomed when Raphael decided to release the truth about the account that the

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 85— An Eye, for the Whole Body

Mrs Riley's POVAfter I left the house, I drove straight to my old friend Malia’s place—the one person in the media with enough power to spin any story in my favor. But before stepping out, I had already made the necessary calls. Evidence had been secured, and more importantly, fabricated. All of it pointed to Rick Moore as the mastermind behind the offshore loan scandal. He had snitched—on me and on my son. That was unforgivable.I live by the biblical code— an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Except, when someone takes my eye, I don’t just take theirs—I take the whole damn body. That’s how I operate. No one sins against me without paying in full. And whitmore? Oh, he would pay dearly.“Malia, I need you to air a story tonight,” I said, casually sipping the champagne she had poured moments ago.“Aww, dear Riley, my very good friend,” she smiled, half amused. “When was the last time we talked? A decade ago?”I chuckled. “Come on, Malia, don’t be dramatic—it couldn’t have been that

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 84— When I Thought we had them

Raphael's POV I paced back and forth in the living room, my hands clenched into fists at my sides. The disbelief still hadn’t worn off.My own mother had orchestrated all of this. The breaking news, the strategically leaked evidence that pinned everything on the lawyer—everything was her doing. That poor bastard never stood a chance. He was a fool for letting her know I had already uncovered the truth behind the infringement. And now, she had spun the story perfectly, painting him as the sole villain while she and I were paraded as heroes. The worst part?I couldn’t even counter it.Somehow, she’d manipulated things so precisely that anything I said publicly would look like an attack on her—and by extension, on the Lorenzo family. She’d sealed my mouth shut without even lifting a finger against me.The TV blared in the background, still on the same loop. News anchors repeated the story again and again, milking every angle. Diana and I just sat there, stunned. We’d been outplayed—by m

Diana’s POV"What the heck is this? How's this possible?" The remote fell from my grip, clanging against the coffee table. A chill spread through my body while I gazed at the screen. The voice of the news anchor reverberated through the room, each word hitting me like a heavy stone in my gut. "Breaking news this evening— Disturbing documents have surfaced with several news organizations showcasing what seems to be proof that Attorney James Whitmore, past legal advisor to Lorenzo Industries' founder Lorenzo Senior, masterminded the offshore account plot that has troubled Raphael Lorenzo's business for months." Raphael leaned in, his face changing from surprise to disgust. The anchor went on, "Mrs. Riley Lorenzo, who stepped up as a whistleblower tonight, claims that Whitmore held a grudge for decades against Lorenzo Senior following a contentious dispute in the 1990s." Mrs. Lorenzo junior asserts that Whitmore specifically aimed at Raphael to eñd the legacy of his grandfather's che

Diana's POV "I am sorry, baby, for making you remember things you should have forgotten.""Oh no, it's fine, Raph. The memories are part of me; they are the only good memories I have got, so either way, I have to live with them and cherish them.""Okay, but let's eat. The food is getting cold already."I waited for him to take the first bite, watching him carefully. As he chewed down the first spoon, he took another and then another and then another. He kept on talking until I asked him to slow down."You've got to tell a woman how her food tastes, especially if she's making it for the first time, you know." "I am so sorry, my love. The food is just too delicious for me to pause to say anything else."I smiled triumphantly."Henceforth, this is my best food," he blurted. My jaw dropped in amazement.Come to think of it, I never really asked him what his best food was. We never really talked about things like that, though, so I decided to ask him."Dear, you never told me your best f
