I woke up to Angelica’s footsteps as she moved around the room packing up.

“Did I wake you? Sorry, I wanted you to sleep for as long as you could.”

“Oh no, it’s ok, I’ve never been one to sleep deeply anyway. What time is it?”

“It’s six thirty. There’s still time if you want to sleep in some more or grab a shower.”

“Um yeah, I think I’ll grab a shower.” The sound of my stomach grumbling filled the room and I ducked my head in embarrassment.

Chuckling she said, “Dante’s already handled breakfast, we’ll eat on the road. Now quickly go shower.”

I ran into the bathroom, emerging minutes after a quick shower.

“Please help me reapply the paste?” I asked her. She nodded her head. The room was silent as she applied the paste on my back then wrapped it in bandages. After I got dressed, there was a knock on the door. It was Dante.

“You ladies ready yet?” He asked, hovering by the door.

“Yep. We’re all set.” Angelica responded and we left the motel heading to the truck. Inside it, there were bag

Morning came soon after; I got up first, and my roommates were still quietly asleep. I entered the bathroom to check on my back, and it was fully healed now; this was most definitely thanks to my eating well last night. I took my bath, got out, and got dressed in the clothes I found in my closet, which I had only opened out of curiosity. The closet was filled with clothes and toiletries, I settled on simple black joggers and a loose dark green top with black sneakers. Once dressed I sat at my table patiently waiting for my roommates to wake up.Two hours and a hurried frenzy of bathing and dressing up we made our way to school.“Are we going to have to take a bus?”“To the school? Nope, it’s within walking distance.” Camille replied.“That’s convenient.”“Yes very, it’s one of the reasons we always sleep in, cause we could always run to school if need be.”Four blocks later, we arrived at the school building; students were trooping in, happy smiles on their faces. People waved at the

She placed the bags on the floor gesturing for us to join her; we sat on the floor as she removed the plates of pasta from the bags.“Tonight is pasta night, my favorite night.” She said smiling.Sarah and I grabbed our plates, digging into the food. I let out a small moan at how good it tasted. “I’d like to meet the person who cooked this meal and have them teach me,” I said.“Good luck with that, the chef isn’t fond of sharing trade secrets,” Sarah said.“Translation, he wouldn’t share his cooking recipes even with a knife to his throat,” Camille added.“What? Why not?” “He claims it’s a family recipe and he couldn’t bear to part with it,” Camille explained.“That’s fair,” I responded.“Is it though? I mean it’s just food isn’t it?”“I don’t think it’s just food to him. To him, it’s the one thing of his family that he’s able to hold on to, so he wants to keep them as close to him as he can.”“Wow.” She said with a sigh, “I never thought about it like that. You are so wise.”“No, I’

Leaving the center, I indulged in the sugary goodness that I was given. “Now, to find you place to stay. This time we’re going to have to take a bus.” Angelica said. We walked to the bus stop, waiting patiently for the bus to arrive. I looked around me once again still in awe of the splendor, I was quick to realize that the world of the Waning Moon pack was small and insignificant compared to where I was. The bus arrived, we boarded, and spent the rest of the trip with my head pasted on the window and Angelica chuckling at my wide-eyed look. We alighted in front of a three-story building that was painted maroon.“Here we are.” She announced.“Where exactly is here?” I asked.“It’s a hostel we built for runaways who wish to remain in our pack. There’s already a room prepared for you, and our roommates already know about you coming.”“So it’s a dorm?” “That’s right, and you have nothing to worry about, everyone here is very welcoming, and your roommates already promised they’d do thei

Not alone was right, the Blood Fang pack was huge, and this was just as far as I could see.“This is the Warriors’ sector,” Dante said stretching his arms to encompass the entire area.Men and Women alike strolled around in combat boots, cargo pants, and fitted tops. Nearby, I could hear grunts from people training; the whole place reeked of sweat and damp. A man walked towards us dressed like the masses, except that his face was framed by glasses, his hair was blond, and swept back.“Ramirez, Delgado, you’re late.” He said his voice was deep and authoritative.Dante and Angelica suddenly stood at attention before him, and there were a few tense moments of silence before they all burst into laughter.“Honestly, Carl, I cannot get over how good you are at sounding all serious,” Angelica said, still laughing.“What can I say? It’s a gift.” He responded with a shrug. “I beat you two again. Why on earth did it take you guys a day longer to get back?”“Well, we could tell you, but it would

I entered the bathroom that was barely big enough to fit two people. I began to take off my clothes, being mindful of my wounds. I removed my jacket, then the blood-stained shirt, ignoring the stinging pain in my back as I removed them. TI took off my pants and got under the shower. I gritted my teeth, letting out a small yelp as the water met my back. Done, I grabbed a towel and carefully wrapped it around myself. Back in the room, I grabbed my bag, looking for herbs I could use to make a paste for my wounds. At that moment, Angelica entered the room. She must have left while I was in the bathroom. She nodded her head at me, then went into the bathroom. While she was in there, I mixed all the necessary herbs I needed, but now I needed help applying them, so I sat on my bed waiting for Angelica so I could ask her. After a while, she emerged from the bathroom, her hair a tangled mess at her shoulders.“Everything okay?” She asked staring at me.“Um, I was wondering, if it wouldn’t be t
