She placed the bags on the floor gesturing for us to join her; we sat on the floor as she removed the plates of pasta from the bags.

“Tonight is pasta night, my favorite night.” She said smiling.

Sarah and I grabbed our plates, digging into the food. I let out a small moan at how good it tasted. “I’d like to meet the person who cooked this meal and have them teach me,” I said.

“Good luck with that, the chef isn’t fond of sharing trade secrets,” Sarah said.

“Translation, he wouldn’t share his cooking recipes even with a knife to his throat,” Camille added.

“What? Why not?”

“He claims it’s a family recipe and he couldn’t bear to part with it,” Camille explained.

“That’s fair,” I responded.

“Is it though? I mean it’s just food isn’t it?”

“I don’t think it’s just food to him. To him, it’s the one thing of his family that he’s able to hold on to, so he wants to keep them as close to him as he can.”

“Wow.” She said with a sigh, “I never thought about it like that. You are so wise.”
