A hometown race is one of the most important races to any driver, and today, I am standing in the grandstands of the Qatar Airways British Grand Prix, where Dalon will be second on the grid for his home race. The tension is high, the air around static with everyone waiting to see if Dalon will be able to overtake Michael that is in pole position.

It is still a few hours before the race starts, and I wanted to see what it would be like to be in the majority crowd. Cut out boards of the three hometown favorites or everywhere you turn. Some with memes, some are their faces enlarged. Unlike the VIP area, it feels alive here, like no one needs to pretend to be calm and collected for the cameras. The energy is wild, free and full of hope. It is load enough that you can’t hear yourself think.

  • Fuel Me, Break Me, Love Me   Chapter 38: She is scary

DalonI am not on pole position today. Instead, I will be start at the worst position I have been in since I started in my rookie year. I am starting at the back of the grid as we opted not to listen to Jena and tried the hard tires in qualifying round one, hoping the tires would warm up by the time we get to round three. I crashed the car around the second corner, my tires not finding any grip on the circuit. I wanted to scream and rage, but there is no point in doing that. Jena was pissed enough for my sake, seeing as she had been the one to warn them that the hard tires are an absolute no go.In a sense, I can understand that the idea was to save the softs and mediums for the race, but putting a time on the board with tires that can hardly get me through a warm up lap is just depressing to say the least. I am still slightly fuming as I sit in the car now, waiting for the formation lap to start and give me something to do aside from thinking about how shite it is to sit twentieth on

  • Fuel Me, Break Me, Love Me   Chapter 37: My big mouth

RejenaI feel mortified. I never should’ve opened my big mouth. Just because I enjoy the sport, doesn’t mean that I have any right to speak up and question their strategies. They are professionals and they have been doing this for years. Why do I have to be such a know it all? Why can’t I just bite my tongue and let the men do the talking?“Jena, would you mind coming to my office?” Brian asks as everyone starts to leave the meeting room. I nod my head, not quite sure why he would want me in his office. I suddenly feel like I am back at work, ready to face Dan with a lot of uncertainty. Me and my big mouth! So stupid of me to think I know better than the professionals. I follow Brian as he makes his way out of the cockpit and towards the paddocks where I am assuming his office is. Dalon and Oliver aren’t far behind us, but they are both keeping their distance, talking softly behind me. I really need Dalon at my side to ell me that I didn’t just screw shit up for him, but he seems to b

  • Fuel Me, Break Me, Love Me   Chapter 36: Suggestions

Dalon“We need to take you shopping.” I tell Jena as I once again need to force my eyes from tracing down the length of her body. She is not dressed today to impress anyone, but she sure as hell is showing far more skin than I am comfortable with. Men are staring at her, and I want to growl like an animal at every single one of them. I have never before been the jealous type. I loved being the man with the most beautiful woman in my arms because that means they envy me, but seeing them look at Jena they way they used to look at the other women I had by my side, makes me see red.Today she is wearing comfortable looking cargo pants and a leotard army green shirt that shows just how defined her body is. The shirt is a low-cut V-neck that shows off her cleavage and a glimpse of a new tattoo she had gotten right between her breasts. I never thought tattoos could look that good on someone until I got that small glimpse that everyone else is also getting at the moment. I didn’t even know sh

RejenaMy nerves are fried as I make my way into the office two hours earlier as requested. The lights are already on, which in unusual for me as I am always the first one at work and more often than not, the last one to leave. Dan is already sitting in his office, focused on something on his laptop. I softly knock on his door when I walk in and he looks up startled, until he sees me. He looks tired, like he had a really long week, even though it is only Wednesday.“Hi Dan.” I greet him, my chest hurting as anxiety claws at me. I have tried to think of every possible thing that I could’ve done wrong to warrant a reason to be called into the office before anyone else can show up for the day.“Jena, you came.” He says, almost as if he didn’t expect me to show up.“Yes, well you did request for me to be here.” I remind him. He sighs, rubbing a hand over his face. This is not going to be an easy conversation. What the hell did I do wrong? Is it the leave that I took so soon after my trip

  • Fuel Me, Break Me, Love Me   Chapter 34: Photo leaks

DalonLuckily, Rejena doesn’t seem to remember what happened last night, which means that I get to hold onto my pride and hopefully one day get the chance to do it right. Preferably where I don’t cum in my pants like a thirteen-year-old.“What do you do now? In your free time between races. I know that you don’t always have two weeks between races, but when you do, what do you do in between?” She asks as she sips on her coffee. We have ordered our food, but it is taking slightly longer than what I would like for it to take. I haven’t been able to eat this morning as I overslept, and I had to get in the gym for a light session. Thank goodness we don’t work on the neck the day after the race, but tomorrow, all bets are off.“Well, we have to do the whole PR thing. As we make our way to Austria, we will be doing meet and greet sessions. Not the most fun part of my job, but I do appreciate my fans, and it is always nice to know that you can make someone’s day by simply showing up.” I tell
