“Did your parents ever figure out why the Moon man wanted you so bad?” I ask, after he tells me parts of the story I’ve never heard before.

My heart hammers in my chest at the thought of the Moon man wanting Griffon and Heather so bad. And the fact that he wanted them at a certain age.

He didn’t want them as babies.

Griffon shakes his head, “No. I think they were just happy it was over. I don’t think they kept looking, and if they did, I don’t think they ever found anything.

I nod, my eyes far away as I think about the possibility that this could mean something good. Griffon’s eyes narrow, “What?” He asks, and I turn back to him. “What if we could pause this whole thing?” I ask him, and the confusion on his face deepens. “How?”

I swallow. I don’t think Amy wants everyone knowing about the baby, but I already unknowingly told Liam, and I really need to work this out.

“He didn’t want you til what? Six, Seven. Right?” I ask, and he shrugs. “Somewhere around there, I think.” He answers an

Tapping on Aspen’s window has me going back in time. Back when things were simple, easy… Fun. Though I’m definitely not as small as I used to be. Being stealthy is no longer an easy feat. But now that I’m older, I don’t know if we ever were. Or if our parents just wanted us to have a fun childhood, knowing growing up is never easy.I continue tapping until I hear her move from her bed. I get ready for the whispered shouts, or even her trying to push me off the roof, like she’s done the few times she was really wanting her sleep. The window opens slowly, and she stands there. But the yelling doesn’t come, or the aggression. “What do you want, Griff?” She asks calmly, and without emotion. My eyes narrow on her, “Are you okay?” I ask her. She swallows looking over at her bed. “Bad dream.” She answers, and I don’t need to ask what it was about. I already know it was something to do with my parents.“Well, forget sleep. Let’s go for a walk.” I tell her, reaching out my hand to help pull he

I lay down on the grass, my hand buried in Leah’s fur, my eyes closed to the sun beating down on me. Something that I haven’t felt in months. More like years. I hadn’t been able to spend much time in the sun since we got back, so even though this isn’t real… It still feels nice.“You know your friends have more faith in you than you seem to have in yourself.” The witch says gently, sitting down beside me in the grass.I take a deep breath, “That doesn’t surprise me.” I tell her without opening my eyes.I know it’s been days since she’s let me control my own body. I know she’s starving me… But I can’t feel it in here. It doesn’t hurt in here.“Did you ever have that?” I ask her, and I hear her sigh. She’s takes so long to answer I figure the answer isn’t coming. “Once.” She finally whispers, and I open my eyes to her looking off into the distance.I sit up in the grass and look over at her, “You know my daughter loved fairy tales growing up. She’s always wish for the heroin to win, but

Walker and I walk over to Cole’s house, wanting to discuss this witch situation. See if she can tell me anything more about it.We walk inside and head to Hazel’s room that has all her books and potions. The doors cracked open, and I freeze. “We have to tell someone. She hasn’t eaten in days. The witch is going to kill the baby.” Aspen’s voice leaks out of the room; my whole-body feels numb… Baby?I feel Walker’s hand squeeze my shoulder, but I barely notice it. Baby?“We’re keeping it secret for a reason, Aspen. If the witch finds out…” She doesn’t need to finish. My mind goes back to the other day when Amy freaked out. Was this why? Is that when she realized she was pregnant? Is that why she needed to see Hazel so bad.Amy’s pregnant… How do I even handle this situation right now?“I realize this, but it doesn’t change the facts.” Aspen hisses, and Hazel sighs, “As much as I hate to say it… It might be for the best, Aspen.”I lean back against the wall, sliding down to the floor, no

I walk down to the cells a few days later. Liam’s been trying to recruit more witches, but it’s tricky because we don’t know who to trust. Even Hazel isn’t sure how to know for sure we can trust them, even with the help of Gabby the witch Renolds sent over here. We’re not even one hundred percent sure we can trust her.And on top of all of that, Amy’s stopped eating.Liam, Dallas, Griffon, everyone’s been trying to get her to eat something, but apparently, she’s just been sitting in the back corner staring at the bars.I decided I’d give it a shot. I still haven’t told anyone about what I know about her, and she can’t not eat in her situation. So, while they’re all concerned, they don’t know the actual severity of her not eating.I get down to the cells, and see Dallas sitting outside hers, just staring into the cell. I walk up next to him, but he doesn’t stop staring at her. “What are you doing?” I whisper like she can’t hear me, but I know she does. She doesn’t move though. Her eyes

My hearts on the floor as we try to figure out what to do. Amy’s body in my hands, after I made Dallas bring her out to me.“This has to have something to do with the witch. They wouldn’t have both passed out at the same time otherwise. We don’t need a doctor, we need Hazel.” Cole says as I finally come out of my frantic thoughts.I find him, and he’s looking at me, waiting for me to decide. But I know as much as him… He’s probably right. It’s definitely strange that they both went down at the same time.I nod, my voice not coming to me.I look back down at Amy, begging the Goddess to bring her back, when her eyes start to flutter open.“Angel…” She cuts me off. Her hand wrapping around my neck and pulling me down to her lips. The kiss is like coming up for air, while taking away my breath at the same time. It’s so rare anymore that I get to feel this close to her. Be this close to her.I pull her closer, taking this in no matter who’s watching. She pulls away and I reluctantly let he
