CHAPTER 156: Poisoned Darkness

Third person’s POV:

Minister Elais sat on a chair, his face grim and serious as he held up a photograph containing two individuals. His eyes thinned into slits as he continued staring at the photo, different emotions fought in his mind but one was most prevalent; anger.

Elais grumbled under his breath, trying to refrain from shouting. “I knew it, I knew he was going to be an imposter.”

This was a serious and delicate situation that should be handled effectively and not waste any time over, he thought, running a hand through his rough beard. Immediately he found out what had been hidden in the shadows for a while now, he immediately called Alpha Rhaella, seeking her attention for she needed to be told first but there wasn’t a reply.

“She must know this before anyone else.” He muttered again, still deep in thought. He had seen the closeness Alpha Rhaella had had with that imposter, and he didn’t want his Alpha to look like a fool when the secrets got ou

CHAPTER 157: Sirens Of Reverse Harem Pyra’s POV:I reached my penthouse in nothing less than a few minutes, popping into the shower as soon as the doors closed behind me. I could feel the cold water running down my back, wetting my hair, and falling to the ground in loud platters. I ran a hand through my face, as one thought clouded my senses; Maverick. The mention of his name sent a flash of images running through my mind, causing a blush to form on my cheeks. One thing that was for certain is that I do not regret what I had done. No. I do not. I wanted everything that happened and even more, but what hurt me the most was that I had given myself to Maverick yet again on a silver platter. I ran a hand through my face, wiping as much water as possible but more kept falling. What was happening to me? I shouldn’t be this weak of feelings. It was only fleeting, and I’m sure this was what Maverick had always wanted. Then when he was done, he would only discard me like some used toy

CHAPTER 158 : Purple Horror Pyra’s POV:We needed not waste any more time as we got into the SUV, driving directly to the Minister's headquarters where all ministers reside. The drive was short, but elongated by adrenaline as we rushed through the city streets, the engine of the SUV roaring as if it understood the urgency of the moment. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, each one a sharp, biting reminder of the stakes. What could have happened? Who would dare kill one of my Ministers?Minister Elais? My Mother’s most trusted advisor? He must have had some important information for him to be attacked. The questions kept running through my head, every passing minute was another piece of the puzzle slipping into place, and I couldn’t afford to waste any more time. The Ministers’ headquarters loomed ahead, its imposing structure casting a shadow over the streets like a fortress. It was a place where the most revered of the pack, after years of their dedication to the pack, resided in

The woman, no, the stranger looking back at me was poised, elegant, and the perfect epitome of grace and beauty. I marveled at how perfectly she was dressed—unable to believe I was the one. They had dressed me—like I was some kind of important guest and not the prisoner they once held me as. I twirled, watching as the rich, deep red gown hugged my curves just right, its satin fabric catching the light every time I shifted. Everything was to perfection, focusing on even the tiniest of details. Hell, even the lace detailing at the neckline gave it a subtle vintage charm, while the soft swirl of the skirt added a playful contrast. My hair, once uncombed, wild, and filled with dirt, had been carefully curled and pinned into a sophisticated updo. A few loose strands framed my face gently, adding to the softness of the look.I smiled, remembering just

Was he mad?I stared up at the hulk of a man, my expression wondrous from what he just uttered. The Minister of Secret Affairs was dead? And from the sound of it, it looked like this Alpha was responsible. A chill ran down my spine at the thought. From my small time spent at FireHeart Pack, the minister had been a formidable figure, his influence touched every corner of the kingdom, and now he was gone?Just who was this man really and how long has he been planning all these? I couldn’t tear my gaze away from Alpha Duncan as he stood before me, his dark, intense eyes locking with mine. There was something in the way he carried himself, something that spoke of power — and danger, something so familiar that I had seen in my reflection more times than I could count. We really are similar. But his desperation would lead him to his death. I chuckled, try

CHAPTER 161 : Pointy Fingers Maverick’s POV:I watched as Alpha Rhaella got into her SUV, the door shutting closed. But even with that, I saw how downcasted she was. Through the half-closed tinted window, I could see her head bent sadly, her mouth sealed shut. Minister Elais' death really must have had an impact on her. She turned and our eyes jammed and the SUV’s engine roared to life. Her eyes lingered on me for a split second, the silent tension between us thick, as if there was something unsaid, something unresolved. But then, the window slid up completely, cutting off the brief connection we had.I couldn’t move. Only stood there, frozen for a moment as I watched the SUV slowly drive off. The air suddenly felt a whole lot heavier, the weight of the moment pressing against my chest. I turned towards the slowly desolating conflict. The ambulance was long gone but the drama still unfolded as different Ministers came out to watch, their whispering dominating the whole place. The

I stirred slowly, blinking against the warmth that seemed to envelop me. I popped into a sitting position only to feel friction against my bare body. I frowned, moving the blanket and looking down only to find myself completely naked. My frown deepened as I tried to recall what happened that led to my current state. I suddenly felt a soft stir beside me and slowly turned to see a lump under the blanket. I stared at the middle of the raised blanket for the longest time as the memory of last night resurfaced. Slowly, my eyes trailed up and met the face of the person lying next to me. My breath caught in my throat, but that was it. I couldn’t panic, nope; I wouldn’t. I reached out my hands to touch his face, feeling the roughness of his beard as I massaged the gray present, a thought running through my mind. Never in my entire life did I think I’d get e

Three days since the death of minister Elais and no amount of thinking could bring forth an answer to what he wanted to tell me, the night before his unexpected demise. Was what he wanted to tell me the reason behind his death? Did someone cause his death to hide something from me?No! I shook my head, sure it wouldn’t be close to that. None could betray me and it was a chronic heart attack that killed him, according to the forensic investigators, not that someone was trying to hide something. But could it be that he called because I was the closest to help him? Was he in danger? I held my head, furiously scrubbing my skull and hoping something logical would pierce out of my brain. A few drops of sweat fell from Steven’s face as he punched the bag with all his might, his muscles contorting against the pressure but it wasn’t enough. She stared at his crushed neck, regretting why she hadn’t realized her full potential earlier. She would have saved him. “Please, wake up.” Her tears dropped down to Caspian’s face. I was…. Caspian’s fists clenched at his sides, knuckles whitening beneath the strain. His wolf snarled within him, a guttural growl echoing in the depths of his chest, demanding he do something—anything—but he stood rooted, a silent witness to the scene tearing him apart. What could he do, really? The pain was too much. Rhaella would never accept him, not after he betrayed her trust. Not after he caused her child to be kidnapped, an aim he mostly came to the FireHeart pack for. And there was the pain of losing his sister. He had always wanted a sibling, but he never knew he had one just around the corner all these while. And she hated him. Because of Duncan, his father. And lastly, there was the pain i

Let the one chance left for redemption be the one to prevail. Let this cup not overflow with the blood of the retribution.” She prayed, knowing her prayer would be useless because what would happen next has already been set in stone. No one, not even the most powerful of mages or witches could change it. Fate is a fragile but powerful thing. Once it’s decided, it’s sealed forever. Meanwhile, Maverick has reached side to side with Rhaella as they both glared at Duncan who watched them with a plastered smirk despite being comforted by two powerful werewolves. “You two team up to beat me?” Duncan teased. “Is this how weak Lunaria has g

Slowly and delicately as if any heavy action could shatter the moment, her fingers traced the invisible threads of fate woven around the globe’s surface. In the depths of the globe, war had found its rhythm again. Fire. Claws. Blood. The human armies advanced toward the RedClaw pack. It was all playing out again—like the Dance of the Crimson Ashes, she had seen long ago.Her face was solemn and stained with unshed tears, a sad smile plastered on her face. She knew how the story would end before the globe even showed it. I too was breathing hard, exhaustion gripping in as the scent of blood perforated the air. It wasn’t just Ember’s or mine—it was like it was our past, our pain, and our father’s favoritism. My fist clenched beside me, the world spinning around me in a chaos I couldn’t control. Ember was good, I must give her that. She moved like lightning, rage guiding her every step. The blade she held in one hand sliced across my shoulder and I staggered back, my knees nearly giving away. But I didn’t fall.I couldn’t. Not this time. Not when I have people depending on me. Not when I haven’t gotten my retribution. “You’re weak, brother,” she spat, her eyes glowing with the same red madness that burned in our father’s. The way she mentioned the word ‘brother’ I could feel the amount of hatred and anger from that single word. “Always holding back. Alway

The backups he had called were yet to arrive. It was as if the goddess heard his words because immediately, the ground trembled beneath Maverick’s boots.
