Mag-log inWalker made his way to his room before his father came back home from his den meeting. He showered and threw on some sweats, tossing himself on to the bed and scrolling his phone.
He looked up Roxie on her social media, but she wasn’t too active and she still had pictures up of Jesse and Felicity.
Why did he feel drawn to her—the timid little mouse with the fiery temper and hot mouth?
He loved the way she felt, the power he had over her when he held her up against the wall—how Roxie fell pliant into his hold, not resisting him until he advanced.
“Fuck..” Walker looked down at the tent his cock had made in his sweats. There was no way he was growing hard for the runt.
Tugging his cock out of his pants, he began to stroke and stroke—dropping his phone onto the spot next to him. All he thought about was her scent, her smile...the way she liked it when he was roaming her body with his hands—the way her nipples jutted out like pert little diamonds when he’d pulled her closer to his chest at school.
He suddenly exploded, ropes of cum shooting out onto his stomach—he let out a soft moan.
Reaching for the tissue, Walker cleaned himself up and sighed.
He grabbed his phone and scrolled for her number.
“This is a good cobbler,” Roxie said, “Who made it?”
“I think it was Valentina,” Suri smiled, “She sure does make a mean peach cobbler, doesn’t she? I could eat it all by myself.”
“Me, too...” Roxie savored her bite as her phone buzzed in her pocket.
Glancing at it, she looked at the number, contact name: Shithead.
Pick you up tomorrow at 7. Don’t make me wait.
She felt herself grow clammy as she read the text. Why would he want her there?
R: No.
S: Don’t do this, mouse. You need to come out and have a good time.
R: I don’t want to have a good time—not with you.
S:I swear I will drag you out of that house by your ankles if you don’t do what I say.
R: You don’t scare me, Walker.
S: I should. Don’t you want the job and your mom to get a raise?
R: Fine.... 7 it is...
S: Good girl.
Feeling absolutely disgusted, Roxie told her mom about Felicity and Jesse.
“Oh, honey, that’s awful. I am so sorry. Will you forgive them?”
Roxie shrugged, “I don’t have any other friends.”
Suri knew it wasn’t easy for her daughter to make friends. Roxie was smart, kind, and quite pretty, but she was a loner—and from the other side of the tracks.
“You will find the man of your dreams one day and the friends you will make will be the ones you’ll value and cherish for a lifetime.”
Roxie smiled. It hadn’t been easy since her dad died—and she knew her mother longed for his touch.
Steven was a good man and the way he died was suspicious—with even the most prominent and snooty of vamps coming to his funeral.
He’d been attacked by a rogue pack about an hour from Myrtle—a wolf pack. In their world, it was completely acceptable for vampires to mingle with other creatures, but this pack was feral and it had been almost three years since Steven’s passing.
She remembered the entire town showing up, including Walker and his family.
“I miss him,” Roxie said, “I think about him all the time.”
“As you should,” Suri smiled, “He’d be proud of you—he always doted on his sweet princess.”
Suri and Steven had tried for years to have another child, but Roxie had been the only one and she was spoiled, but not rotten. They barely made ends meet, but Roxie was a pleasant child.
“So, there’s this party tomorrow night..”
“Oh?” Suri pretended to be surprised, “And are you going?”
“I..well...yeah, I think I might...” Roxie would do anything to keep her mother employed, “I was invited by Walker...”
“Walker Wells?” Suri frowned, “I don’t know, Roxie...”
Roxie nodded, grimacing, “I know. I don’t like it, either, but he makes my life hell at school anyway. He commissioned me to do a painting of his mother.”
Suri narrowed her eyes, “Which means you’ll be over there more?”
“More?” Roxie laughed, “I’ve been once and that was to pick you up.”
Suri shook her head, “I don’t like it, but you’re an adult and...”
“I will be home by midnight,” Roxie told her mother, “I will even check in with you.”
Suri wasn’t convinced at all that it was a good idea for her daugher to go to a party on Walker’s side—or that Walker was the one who invited her.
“Be careful,” Suri took her daughter’s hand and held it, “We’ll get the den after them if they try anything.”
Walker stood in front of his mirror the next night in his black baggy jeans, black V-Neck shirt, a blue blazer and black boots. His hair was slicked back as his eyes shone golden in the mirror back at him.
He remembered her amethyst orbs peering into his soul when they met on the road the evening before.
“Are you still picking up Holden?” Madeline asked, standing in the open doorway.
“Yeah, I am going to take the Jeep.”
“Make sure she sits in the front.”
“Mom, I am not letting the rodent sit in the front seat.”
Madeline frowned, “You will not be a heathen tonight, Walker.”
Walker sighed, “Fine. If it means so much to you, I will let her sit in the front with me.”
Madeline smiled, “You won’t regret that.”
She walked away with Walker muttering to himself.
“I already do.”
Roxie curled her hair at the ends, stepping into her dark blue jeans, flats and a green halter top. It was rare when she showed off her body—save for the video of she and Jesse. She blushed at the thought of anyone seeing her naked, especially Walker Wells.
Grabbing her sweater and purse, Suri handed her a pair of hoop earrings.
“Mom, I don’t want to get all fancy.”
“Every lady needs earrings when she goes out.”
Roxie smiled as she put them on. She could smell him coming up the road and into the neighborhood.
“Well,” Roxie hugged her mom, “I guess I’m going to a party.”
Suri smiled, “Call me if you need me, please. Don’t you dare hesitate to do so. I love you too much to see anything happen to you.”
Roxie nodded, “I love you, Mom. I’ll be safe.”
Stepping out onto the porch, Roxie shoved her sweater into her bag and watched Walker stroll up to her, eyeing her up and down.
“Well, you clean up well, mouse.”
Roxie rolled her eyes, “Can we just go, please?”
Walker reached out his hand, but Roxie hesitated.
“I’m not going to bite,”Walker said, narrowing his eyes and grinning, “Unless you want me to.”
Roxie sighed, taking his hand and allowing him to escort her to the Jeep.
“You have a nice ass in those jeans,” Walker licked his lips as he watched her climb into the vehicle.
“You’re such a perv.”
“That I am,” Walker hopped into the driver’s seat and peeled out of the driveway, “I have to pick up Holden.”
Roxie felt a tinge of disappointment, but that was quickly erased when Walker put a hand on her thigh.
“This should be one hell of a night, little mouse,” he leaned over, his eyes still on the road, “There’s no telling what might happen.”
He smirked as Roxie peeled his hand from her leg and glared at him.
“And if you’re not scared now, I guarantee you will be soon.”
“That’s right,” Maddy smiled, “Get angry with me. It’ll do you no good.”Roxie squeezed her eyes shut, possibly trying to save Archibald.Walker shook his head,“No, little mouse. He’s not coming back. ”There was still a great sadness in Walker’s voice which made Roxie even angrier.Jadis could feel it and so could Jaleesa. Leah and Chet, even Chad had stepped out from the shadows, preparing to fight off the succubi.“You’re no match for all of us, “Roxie said,“We will show you absolutely no mercy. You thought you could just take over Archibald’s little scheme? Look how that turned out. It’s over. People can finally be with their true mates. What do you propose now? A life where you rule? You and your minions?”Maddy locked eyes with Walker.“You’ve got a smart one, my son. Smart and pregnant. Ya know, your father was a good man, Roxie… Too bad he chose to interfere. ”Jenny stepped closer to Walker.“You killed our family, bitch…The things I wish I could do to you.”Maddy appeared sh
Walker held Crystal a little closer as she began to tremble.“Don’t panic. Stay calm,” Walker told her, “There’s got to be a good explanation.”Jaleesa made her way across the dance floor and stopped momentarily beside them.“Get ready to fight… ”Walker noticed Seth and Gordon mingling at the buffet. Their masks were off and they looked immersed in conversation. Pate and his wife, Angie, were eyeing the elders, Maddy and Archibald were dancing as Gina, Valentina, Felicity, and Norman rolled by like an oddball clique. He could sense Metgar and Martina, Corey and Sarai, floating around the room as mere observers. No one suspected witches and wolves to be there.“I’m surprised not everyone’s here,” Crystal said, “The Haven’s, Parker, Felicity’s people...”“The Haven’s are dead,” Jaleesa said, much to the shock of Walker and Crystal, “They tried to get to Roxie....”Walker looked to his mate who was just now receiving the news from Jadis. Her whole body went stiff and he could see her sh
“Just be cool, Roxie...” Roxie mumbled to herself, “Don’t be weird, don’t be weird...don’t be..”“Hey, Rox..”She whirled around, “J-Jesse...hi..”Looking around she didn’t see Felicity, but that mattered not. She didn’t know if Jesse was friend or foe yet.He looked her up and down and smiled, “I like your dress.”“Thank you,” she said, “I see you clean up well.”Jesse chuckled, “Thanks...”There was an awkward silence between them until Jesse piped up.“I’m sorry for causing you pain and being an asshole. You deserved better—you still deserve better..” Jesse said, “I hope that whoever your mate is that they treat you better than I did.”Roxie smiled, her red mask practically suffocating her eyes which seemed ridiculous, but the perspiration was getting to her.“I forgive you, Jesse..” she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, “Cheers to new beginnings?”Jesse smiled and held up his cup, “To new beginnings...”Roxie wanted to rush off before she was asked about Walker and where she’
“Are you ready?”“Not at all.”“I’m not either.”“I don’t like that we have to be apart.”“It’s only for a little while, mouse.”“I can’t believe the four weeks have flown by.”“I can’t believe we’re going to have a baby.”“I can’t believe I’m letting you talk me into a dozen kids!”“It’ll be fun making those little rugrats… ”“I love you so much, Walker… ”“I love you, too, fancy face… ”They were caravaning to the masquerade ball. It was time–the final battle… possibly the start of a war that they had no intention of losing. The wolves and witches had bound themselves to smell like the vamps and they too were headed to the ball.Anyone in the vampire world could show up to see the 25 couples be united by the lies of the elder imposters.Roxie’s pulse raced even though they were a few hours away from Myrtle. The place had been canvassed, it was secure–or as secure as it could be.The witches, wolves, and vamps at Crow’s Peak had been trained, awakened, and a plan we put into place.I
“Oh my gods! I’ve never had so much fun in my life!” Roxie squealed as Walker whirled her around on their walk home.Walker chuckled, “Honestly, I knew it would be fun with you around.”“Crystal and Dante are so cute together, aren’t they?”Walker agreed, “I’m happy for them. I think they truly complete each other.”They entered their home, both of them giggling like little kids with a crush.“This is where I want to be forever, Walker, locked in your arms..” Roxie said as Walker kissed her gently, “I can never picture myself with anyone else.”“I don’t ever want anyone else, fancy face...” Walker said as they shredded their prom clothes and made love for hours. They wrapped up in a blanket together on the window seat, watching the sun rise.“You aren’t even tired, are you?” Walker said, kissing his mate on the top of the head, “You smell so damn good.”“I smell like you,” Roxie giggled, “No, I am not really tired—just hungry.”Walker snickered, “That little one is hungry.”“She defin
“What did you say?” Roxie asked as Walker straightened up and looked around at the room. He was dizzy, but he knew his awakening was the reason, “Walker?”Walker smiled, “That’s between me and my baby,” he winked, “Come on. Let’s get some punch.”The gym was crowded, but they managed to meet up with Evans, Jenny, and Marlena at the buffet. Marlena was eyeing the chicken tenders.“She’s going to turn into a big ole chicken,” Evans teased loud enough for the little girl to hear him, “But I guess I’ll still love her when she’s got feathers.”Marlena stuck her tongue out, but then smiled, nibbling on a tender.“Fatherhood looks good on you,” Walker said as the two stepped off to the side so Jenny and Roxie could chat, “You doing OK?”“Eh...I’m trying...it’s hard being a dad,for sure, but when it’s for a kid who’s had such trauma...she’s tougher than I am,” Evans said, glancing back at his family, “I want her to be safe and happy.”“She will be with you,” Walker said, “I believe that now,
