Snow Bound- Book One- Chapt Fourteen

A half-hour later I noticed a small cave among some big boulders. I pointed towards it, and Porter nodded. We got to the cave, and I suggested I should go in first to make sure it was not a den for hibernating bears.

“Excuse me why should you be first to enter? What if there were bears in there?” Porter asked frowning.

“Because that happens to be another gift of mine. I can just about tame a wild animal. Not once has one ever tried to attack me.” I smiled at him, “Trust me.” I said as I ventured inside and looked around. I poked my head out of the opening. “It’s all clear,” I said, and he began to unload the sleeping bag and quilts as the winds began to blow the snow harder. I began to set things up and spread out the sleeping bag, so we can sit.

The cave was big enough for us two and space to build a fire. So, as I was setting up and bringing in the basket of food, Porter went in search of wood, so we could make a fire. I found some good size rocks to make a fire pit as he walked in
