Fractured Bones

When we stepped inside the operating room, Dad was already in a profound sleep while some of the Doctors are now finishing the stitches.

Afterward, they cleaned up the room and left. I strode towards Dad and lifted his left arm towards my face.

Dad woke up after noticing his arm was lifted up.

“Hey.” He said with a squashy voice and looked at Mom and Kevin. He then gave us a half-smile.

“Hey, Dad.”

“Am I dead?” He jokingly replied.

I chuckled and breathed out. “Your car is dead, Dad.”

Dad rubbed my shoulder and stared at me seriously. “You are great out there. The other you were so beautiful. I saw you for the first time. Don’t ever think you’re a monster, all right?” Then, he made a mimic growling sound.

Mom chuckled.

“Thank you, Dad. That helps a lot for me.”

“Did you kill the vampire?”

“Yeah, the vampire
